Story
Cooper was found in a Walmart Parking Lot in Alabama with a “free puppies” sign. He is 10 months old, and was covered in fleas, ticks and had worms when I got him. He needs a big yard to play in and he loves other animals (he just wants to play) and the other animals in my household do not like him playing with them. In addition to my busy schedule, he deserves a family who has time to spend with him and to play with him. He is very loyal and has a bit of separation anxiety but he really is the bestest boy.

Story
Meet Ghost (aka Beastie) 👻❤️Ghost may be named after something spooky, but this 7-year-old Lab-ish gentleman is really just a big softie whose greatest passions are belly rubs, butt scratches, car rides, and cuddling on the couch.Ghost came to H.A.L.O. through no fault of his own when his family was facing a move, demanding work schedules, and financial challenges that made it impossible to keep him. They made sure we knew just how special he is: housebroken, good with dogs and cats, trustworthy when left alone, and so quiet that he rarely ever barks.Described as affectionate, gentle, docile, and well-behaved, Ghost knows sit, down, heel, and even sit pretty. His only behavioral quirk? He gets a little excited on leash. After all, life is pretty exciting when you're a happy dog.Ghost does have a few medical needs. Like many white dogs, he struggles with allergies and is currently on a prescription hydrolyzed protein diet. He also has arthritis and evidence of a previous knee repair, so he takes daily medications and supplements to keep him comfortable. Thanks to his treatment plan, he's still able to enjoy his favorite activities—mainly relaxing wherever his people are.His biggest dislike? The vet. While he's a sweetheart in everyday life, veterinary visits require sedation and a muzzle. Baths aren't high on his list either, although peanut butter helps smooth negotiations.Ghost isn't looking for an action-packed lifestyle. He's looking for a loving home where he can spend his golden years being the affectionate couch potato he was born to be. If you're searching for a loyal companion with a heart as big as his head, Ghost might just be your perfect match. He is currently being cared for in a foster home while he awaits his forever home, ask our staff about the steps to meeting this sweet boy!Requirements: Martingale Collar; Arthritis/Joint Medications; Prescription Diet (Allergies)All of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home. Our adoption fee helps cover this cost.

Story
Meet Pypa (formerly Kathulu, or "Hulu" to her friends)! 🩷🐾You may remember this sweet face from a previous stay at H.A.L.O. as Kathulu (though everyone affectionately called her "Hulu"). Since her most recent adoption, she's been known as Pypa, but no matter what you call her, she's the same goofy, affectionate girl with so much love to give.Just over a year old, Pypa is full of happy puppy energy! She loves playing fetch with squeaky balls, going for walks, rolling in the grass, and spending time with her people. Once she's had her fun, she's more than happy to settle in for belly rubs or relax with a favorite toy.Pypa has been adopted more than once, and each return has helped us better understand the home where she'll truly thrive. She's wonderful with people and has never shown resource guarding toward humans. However, she does guard food, toys, and other prized items from other dogs, so she is looking for a home where she can be the only dog. We know she'll shine when she doesn't have to compete for the things she loves. She has been introduced successfully with cats and has done well around children. She's also a smart girl who already knows "sit" and "lay down," enjoys having a crate as her safe space, and walks well on leash, though she'll need someone who can manage her excitement around squirrels and rabbits.Pypa has experienced recurring urinary tract infections related to a hooded vulva. Surgery was discussed previously, but since returning to H.A.L.O. she has gone over two months without a single UTI, so we do not feel the potential benefits outweigh the risks at this time.Pypa doesn't need a perfect family—just the right one. Someone who will appreciate her playful spirit, understand her needs, and give her the forever home she's been waiting for. She's had a few names and a few chapters—we're hoping the next one is her forever. ❤️Requirements: Martingale ColarAll of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home. Story
Meet Kiara! 🐾Some dogs have Labrador looks and Labrador personalities. Kiara got the Labrador looks... but we're pretty sure her personality came straight from the Husky factory! She's smart, goofy, energetic, and has a way of making every day a little more fun.Just over a year old, Kiara came to H.A.L.O. through no fault of her own after her owner's health issues and allergies made it impossible to keep her. She spent her early months as an indoor family dog, but as she got older she was mostly kept outdoors. Through all the changes, she has remained a happy, affectionate girl who loves everyone she meets.Kiara was briefly adopted, but unfortunately it was discovered that she is not cat friendly, so she's back with us looking for a cat-free forever home where she can thrive.Kiara is crate trained, housetrained, knows her name, and responds to basic commands. She loves running, playing with toys, learning new things, and will do anything for a tasty treat (especially boiled chicken!). She would do best with an active home that can keep her busy with exercise, training, and adventures. She gets along well with other dogs and would love a canine companion.Since coming into our care, Kiara has become increasingly protective of her toys and other high-value items. Because of this, we feel she would do best in an adult-only home with experienced adopters who understand resource guarding and are committed to managing her environment and continuing positive reinforcement training. With the right structure and guidance, Kiara has so much love, loyalty, and fun to offer. If you're looking for a goofy adventure buddy, cuddle bug, and class clown all wrapped into one, Kiara is ready to be your new best friend. ❤️Requirements: Martingale Collar; Adult-Only Home (due to resource guarding toys/high value items); No CatsAll of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, heart worm or feleuk/FIV tested, fecal tested, rabies and tag, and microchipped before being placed in your home. Story
ASHER is a happy, affectionate, and playful boy, 1 year old ( 53 lbs).Asher loves getting outside to enjoy the fresh air, whether he’s exploring his surroundings or heading out for a nice walk. He’s also a big fan of belly rubs and soaking up quality time with staff and volunteers — attention is definitely one of his favorite things! He enjoys showing off the basic commands he’s learned, especially when yummy treats are involved. This smart young pup is also working toward being fully housebroken and continues to make steady progress with routine and consistency. Asher is one of five littermates, and they have already found their forever homes. He is still patiently waiting for his turn. Because of his playful energy, he would likely do best in a home with children 10 years or older. A high, secured, fenced‑in yard would be ideal for him to safely run and play, or he’d thrive with a family or individual who enjoys long walks and staying active.
