Story
A very generous donor has sponsored Thor's adoption! Thor is a handsome, big black Lab/Rottweiler mix (and yes, those adorable “hidden” Rottie eyebrows are real!) with stunning eyes that will melt your heart. He may have a deep, commanding bark, but don’t let that fool you—he’s the ultimate lovebug once you get to know him. This playful boy loves walks and is always ready for a game of fetch in the yard (he’s still working on giving the ball back, but we promise it’s all in good fun!). Thor is looking for a forever home where he can be spoiled, loved, and included in all the fun. Interested in adopting? Please review all adoption requirements listed on our "Adopt" page, including requirements regarding spay/neuter of current pets, regular veterinary care, and home/landlord checks.

Story
This sweet senior girl is looking for a soft place to land. She’s not a big fan of other dogs — she’s past the roughhousing stage and prefers a calm, peaceful home. But don’t let that fool you — Aria absolutely adores people and soaks up every bit of love and attention she can get. And here’s a fun surprise: while she prefers to be the only dog, Aria loves cats! Once she’s settled in, she’ll even try to share her toys with them. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate companion to relax beside you on the couch or join you for leisurely strolls, Aria might be your perfect match. Plus, thanks to a generous donor, her adoption fee has been fully sponsored! Interested in adopting? Story
Hi there! My name is Delores,!I am a 9-year-old, medium-sized lab mix that was trying my best to survive living in the forest before AHeinz57 came and rescued me. Living in the forest was not easy for me, so my hard start to life has made me slow to trust people and leery of other dogs, but I have learned a lot since I arrived. The volunteers have described me as shy, sweet, and cautious, but when I see people I know, my tail wags with excitement! I have learned to take treats gently from hands, but I am still hesitant to be petted. I even allowed some of the volunteers to brush me and change my collar, which were big steps that were not so easy for me! I even love fluffy beds and keep my kennel clean. One thing is for sure is that the shelter life is so much better than the forest, but I would still love to be in a home to call my own!Since being here at the shelter, I not only do well with my buddy Howard and have grown closer enough to play with him in the yard, but I have also learned to play nicely with other dogs and may even do well with another dog in the home. Although I have not lived in a home with another dog, it may be a little difficult at first to find the right routine, but as long as I have proper and slow introductions to them, we can learn to get along. I would do best in an adult home since kids are too noisy and loud for me, as I can get scared easily. It will take multiple meetings with me and even then, I might not be the most social, but I promise to love you forgiving me a chance. I do require a fully fenced in yard as it will help keep me safe and secure from wandering away. With the fence being a requirement, an apartment or townhome would not work well for me, but I appreciate the thought of wishing me luck in finding the perfect home for me! Now that the majority of my pack have since been adopted, I hear the volunteers talk about how all of them are doing well in their homes, and how they wish the same for me and my buddy Howard. I would love the opportunity for a quiet, patient, and consistent home that will let me grow at my own pace but will also show me the perks of house living! All of us forest dogs have our little quirks, but that is what makes us special. If you are interested in scheduling a time to meet with me or would like to know more information about me, please fill out an adoption application.Until then, I will be waiting for you and the chance to have a home to call my own.

Story
Hi, I`m Fenmore! I was found in an abandoned shed with my girlfriend (Summer Thayer) and her puppies. Because there wasn`t a way for us to get out and get to food, I taught myself how to parkour and I am now known as an escape artist. With my jumping abilities and my high energy, I’m apparently seen as a flight risk, so a fenced in yard is not required for me. I am a bit of a chatter box, so a home with shared walls may not be the best fit for me.Although I can be a little more energetic, I also like to chill out if given a little attention and love. When volunteers come to hang out with me, I usually give them a big hug to show how much I care for them! When I make new friends, I give them hugs too!In playgroups, I’ve loved to play with other dogs and have been in the rough and rowdy group, but I will need a proper introduction to any furry friends in your home as well as humans to make sure that we all get along! I make fast friends, but sometimes my energy could be a lot for little kids and can scare them, but older children may feel most comfortable with my energy. I have not met a cat since my time here at AHeinz57, but I bet the volunteers or employees here would be happy to test me with a feline to see if I will like them or if I would consider them more like a fun interactive toy.If you would like to know more information or would like to schedule a time to meet with me, complete an application on the website or call the rescue to talk with one of my friends!

Story
Meet Glenn! Glenn is a 2 1/2-year-old Shepherd/lab mix that is about 80 pounds at full growth and is still looking to find his forever home.Glenn can be fearful of new people, so he will need multiple introductions for him to warm up in order to feel comfortable, but once he trusts you, he is such an amazing boy! He loves to be silly and can be such a playful guy! He can entertain himself with a ball, benebone or Kong, and is always pulling out all the toys from the basket! He also loves to suntan outside and prefers to be where his humans are! Glenn is also very treat motivated and extremely smart! He has been through obedience clicker training and responds to several verbal and hand commands such as `sit`, `down`, `break`, `come`, and `place` (especially if it involved a nice soft bed to chill in!). He is also potty trained and kennel trained.Glenn would love to find a slow and patient home that is willing to encourage him to be the best boy he can be! Because he can be slow to trust new people, a home without kids would be best. While Glenn does well on a leash, he does need more training when it comes to other dogs and people walking by, so at this time, we are requiring a fence for him. Although he has learned to do well better with puppies, we do think he would do best as the only dog in the home, as he does have resource guarding with toys and food. Glenn would benefit with continued training to build his confidence and an enriching environment to keep his skills sharp. If you are interested in knowing more information about Glenn or meeting with him, please fill out an application at www.aheinz57.com. He deserves the best life!
