Story
Pumba is a 1 year old, male, Labrador Retriever mix. Looking at Pumba's picture I really believe he's a Purebred Cow/Dog but without paperwork we can't be sure. One of our members, Kacie, thinks Pumba is actually a very rare Holstein Doggo!! Pumba is an adorable and happy guy that would love to make your life better! He’s so full of joy! He does well with other dogs and kids but is too interested in cats. Pumba was scheduled to be euthanized due to overcrowding at a small southern Michigan Shelter but Newaygo County stepped up to help him. Stop by and meet him soon! The adoption fee for dogs is $90. This fee includes spay/neuter, deworming, heartworm test, rabies & DHLPP shots, flea & tick treatment and license (for Newaygo County residents). Newaygo County Animal Shelter 78 N. Story
Meet Rocky! Rocky came to us after his owners could no longer care for him so he is now searching for a new forever home! Rocky is a Lab/Mastiff mix that only about 1 year old and weighs about 85 pounds! Rocky has lots of love and energy and would love to find a family to love him. Rocky is housebroken and would do best with older kids. Rocky gets quite excited and no fault of his own may knock over small children by accident. Rocky would do best in a home without cats but does good with other dogs. We do require a dog intro with any future k-9 siblings to make sure everyone gets along. Rocky is up to date in his vaccinations, dewormed, flea treated, heartworm tested negative, microchipped & neutered! If you are interested in giving Rocky a forever home please contact the shelter directly at 989-831-7302 to set up an appointment! *All adoptions are done by appointment only*

Story
My wife and I have had Murphy for 7 years. He's listens well, knows many tricks and is very playful. He actively seeks human affection and attention. He is a little on the hyper side at times and loves to run around and burn off energy in the yard. The reason we are looking for a good new home for our dog is he just doesn't get the attention he needs. We have a 1 and a half year old daughter and are trying for baby number two so we have not been able to be as attentive to him as we would like to. He is great with our daughter but hey have been separated for the most part since she was born. He is great when playing with her and lets her pet him whenever she wants. We have kept them separate as sometimes doesn't know his own size so we don't want her to get trampled or accidentally scratched if the doorbell rings or someone comes over. He has been great with other dogs but has not had much expose to other animals. We are looking for a home that can give him the attention he needs.

Story
Winston is an 8 year old lab mix, adopted from Harbor Humane Society in 2019. It was just him and I at the beginning and besides some separation anxiety, he was a perfect fit for me. Over the years I adopted another dog and 4 cats which obviously changed the dynamic at home. He loves/needs to snuggle, play with tennis balls and loves to swim more than any other dog I've seen. However, he is a very anxious dog. Over the years I've tried all sorts of methods to alleviate this anxiety and keep him happy. What I have realized, is that he would be happiest in a home where he can receive more one on one attention than I am able to provide. I love him but it would be selfish of me to keep him in an environment he can no longer thrive in. His ideal home is one without many other pets in the home (ideally the only dog) where things are calm and structured with lots of walks and snuggles. He is not aggressive towards other animals but can become easily worked up with high energy dogs.

Story
Kona is about 5 years old. She can be anxious in new places, but is very calm when she has routine and becomes familiar with her surroundings. She is a goofy and loving dog, fully potty trained (never had an accident), knows commands such as sit, stay, wait, shake and lay down. She is super smart and continues to learn new tricks! She loves walks regardless of the weather, but when at home she can sit and look out the window all day. Kona has become our first baby and it breaks our hearts to rehome her. She is an amazing dog, but she is reactive on leash with people and other dogs. She is great with people at our house, but more skeptical on a leash. My fiance and I are starting to travel for work more and looking to start a family, so we believe what is best for Kona and for us it to find her a loving home that will have more routine and time to work with her on reactivity. We hope to work with her future owners to transfer everything we know and love about Miss Kona!
