Maximus is a fun loving energetic dog. He loves walk and running around the yard. The thinks he is a lap dog despite his size. He loves to cuddle and watch shows with you. She is good when getting his nails clipped but baths are a challenge. Recommend having a trusted groomer.

Story
This is Brandy. She is roughly 13 weeks old. A trucker gave her to me at a gas station and said he couldn't take care of her anymore. She is the sweetest girl and a very well behaved puppy. She spent the last 3 weeks at my house and did great. Unfortunately, my landlord won't let me keep her. It breaks my heart, but I am hoping to find her a new home where she is loved and well taken care of. No fee or anything. I'll also be happy to give you the supplies I've picked up at pet smart for her. I just want to make sure she's loved. She has done well with other dogs of all sizes and loves playing with kids. She's a work in progress walking on a leash but we can make it around the block pretty easily now. She is also good with potty training, but you need need to give her an opportunity to go.

We often puppy-sit and sometimes take in a puppy to foster. Confetti is fantastic with the puppies, playing with them and helping to teach them the dog ropes.  She would welcome the opportunity to show you how much love and devotion she can offer.  We love Confetti so much and hope the right person comes along soon and gives this sweet girl a chance. 10/28/23 Foster Feedback:  Fun Facts About Confetti: -Loves car rides, belly rubs, snuggles and her snuffle mat -Loves to swim, would make a good dock jumper -Loves to fetch -Loves birds…would love to chase them. Also, not scared of fireworks and looks good in the color orange!  -Playful, prancy and agile…would be fantastic with agility -SMART, oh so willing to please and very food motivated Confetti absolutely loves her people and plans to spend her life trying to make them happy, and play fetch, of course! In addition to being a loose leash pro, this brilliant beauty knows almost 20 different cues! At just under 40 lbs. Confetti can happily show how affectionate she is by snuggling with you in the recliner and offering her loving licks. Confetti has been working so hard on her reactivity and separation anxiety and making immense progress! She has been meeting new people and dogs at the meet and greets all over town. Going to these events has become one of the favorites for this joyful 2-year-old. She would love to show you how much she has learned; her future is so bright! In September, Confetti released a video for her 1-year anniversary in rescue. You can view it here. https://youtu.be/--Lrz_rL-0Y?si=qC_yt4ZITWZcqNhS 8/28/23 Foster Feedback: Confetti has a big announcement! In September, she will be in rescue for 1 year! She is planning something fun to share about all her achievements during that amazing year! 4/12/23 Foster Feedback: Confetti thought it was time to let her future family know what she’s been up to. We are so proud of how well she has done with sharing toys! She loves playing with her small foster brother and is pretty good with being gentle with his little self, even though she has a lot of spunk! They trot around the house, each with an end of the same toy in their mouths. Confetti had a spa day including a bath, nail trim, and ear cleaning. She was easily entertained by a lick mat, which made making her beautiful a lot easier! Confetti loves to go for car rides and doesn’t try to bolt when the doors are open.  We have been steadily practicing daily kennel naps where Confetti can enjoy a stuffed bone or Kong and settle in for some quiet time, she does well with being in her kennel for a couple of hours at a time. Throughout the day we carve out 10-20 minutes a few times a day to play, practice manners, and/or go for walks. We really love having this endearing, happy honey with us. 3/7/23 Foster Feedback: Confetti has been working so hard and has learned so much while attending classes at Down Dog Studio and practicing at home with her foster mom. The cues she regularly knows are: touch, sit, down, wait, leave it, place (bed), kennel, come, off, up, bring it, drop, spin and Confetti has good loose leash walking manners.  This sweet pup is affectionate with her people. We have developed a strong bond training together and she prefers to spend her time with her foster mom, however, she finds opportunities to play with her human foster brother and cuddle her foster dad. One evening, her human foster sister was crying (sibling squabbles) and Confetti gently found the best angle to lick her tears and insert herself into sister's lap for snuggles. The tears stopped because who can cry through that comforting preciousness?! Confetti is a very playful pup! Her favorites haven't changed, and she still finds joy and exercise playing fetch both inside and outside. She was prancing around the other day switching gaits like a fancy show horse. Confetti loves to learn and work and is extremely food motivated. She even prefers working over fetch, so she really does well when she's engaged and learning.   Confetti's perfect match will find her and when they do, it will be someone who has lots of love and belly rubs to give. Someone who can offer time and patience to help her build confidence in anxious situations and set her up to succeed. A family who is home more often than not and has a large area for her to run and play. Confetti would enjoy and benefit from having a canine fur sibling who would reciprocate play. Does this sound like your family? This smart, spunky pup has so much love and companionship to offer! 1/8/23 Foster Feedback: Sweet Confetti came to the rescue from the pound in September 2022. This little lady loves to play with toys, especially balls and fetch! She even tosses them around and plays by herself. Her favorites are the glitter baby shark. When she is happy and excited, she prances around and has a great time playing with my mini dachshund. Confetti has a lot of energy! She likes being outside, even in the cold. She is wonderful with the kids, they chase her around, and that’s what she likes. She has been cautious, but friendly meeting a few new people. To keep Confetti engaged we’ve been learning new tricks, playing double ball fetch, puzzle feeders, exploring the yard and learning how to be comfortable and confident being left alone. She sleeps quietly in her kennel all night. Confetti would do best in a home where her people are home more often than not and have dedicated time and patience to offer her in learning healthy ways to cope with her anxiety.  Confetti is petite, smaller than she looks in pictures and her fur is silky soft. She has the most adorable, speckled socks and is a fantastic cuddler. The kisses she offers show the love she has, and they are not slobbery at all!  I’m looking forward to helping her continue to grow in confidence and knowledge so she can be her best pup and make the perfect family pet!  11/17/22 Foster Feedback: Confetti is still looking for her forever home. She is still a spunky gal who loves to move, run, and play! She spends quite a bit of time running around in our backyard trying to catch all of the birds and squirrels. She is fantastic at fetch and loves to run around and play with our kids.  Even though Confetti has a tough time when she first meets new dogs, she really enjoys having a dog buddy! I can tell she misses our last foster as they’d play for hours. She gets along just fine with the resident dog but he doesn’t play nearly enough for her liking. She is super lovable and sweet! She does get a bit nervous meeting new people - especially men. She just needs a few extra minutes to sniff them out. So some time and patience is needed. She quickly became BFF’s with my husband.  She is just so cute and sweet! We hope she finds her forever family soon! I can see her being a great road trip dog, going on hikes, jumping in the river, etc. I hope she finds a person to match her fun personality!  10/13/22 Foster Feedback: Confetti is a loving dog who enjoys chomping toys, cuddling on laps, and giving kisses. She loves my kids and is always down for a game of hide and seek. I’m able to leave her unattended for about 10 minutes without her getting into mischief but haven’t had the courage to try any longer than that. Confetti sleeps well through the night. She has woken me up twice to go outside and use the bathroom but generally sleeps through the night. She is potty trained but for some reason enjoys peeing on our porch instead of going all the way outside. We are working on that!  We have another foster and our own dog and she gets along with them beautifully. She has some spunk and can play for hours with another playful dog. However, intros need to be done slowly during initial meets. We can help you with that if you have another dog.  Confetti is a good girl and would love to meet you!  9/19/22 Volunteer Feedback: Confetti is a gorgeous girl who loves to love on others! Within seconds of meeting her, she was kissing me all over! She walks beautifully on a leash and follows directional cues wonderfully. Her basic commands, such as sit, are a work in progress, but a patient owner would get these commands mastered in no time. She loves her tennis ball and returns it back with the command “drop it.” Relaxing in a shaded spot is her idea of a good time! She enjoys playing “find it” with treats and lounging around in the presence of humans. Her small head fits perfectly in hands and she loves to receive scratches near her ears! This beauty would love an owner who can still around at her pace and take in the views and scents with her. She did great and graduated this past week! She is ready for a home that will make her training "muscle memory". Take a look at her photos to see how proud she is with her certificate! 1/24/2024 Volunteer Feedback: I have the pleasure of helping this sweetheart out in the rescue. I take her once a week to training classes along with taking her to dog friendly stores. She has been doing great! Very treat motivated and well behaved walking out and about. She can be a bit excited when she first sees you but listens when you need her to calm down. She rides great in the car and loves to sniff out the window. Sparkler is always on the move or will be laying down chewing on a bone next to you! She knows a lot of training commands and is a very smart dog. She would do great in any home that has some patience in adjusting out of shelter life.   12/13/23 Volunteer Feedback:  Hi! My name is Sparkler. Some current facts you should know about me are: I'm very smart. I pick things up really quickly, so as people work with me on training they will find I'm easy to please and super treat motivated.  I know sit, shake, touch, eye contact, and down. I learn everything the building volunteers throw at me. I am definitely an active lady who likes to stay busy. Walks make me happy and the building volunteers do a lot of enrichment with me to help ease my mind. I love snuffle mats and puzzle toys.   I keep my kennel clean and people say I am a joy to be around.  I also love a good toy to chew on.    Pick me, I won't disappoint you! 9/6/23 Foster Feedback: Sparkler is doing GREAT! She is now potty-trained, and knows how to utilize a bell to let you know when she needs to go outside. We have also have her kennel trained with a few tasty bribes, and very little singing. We have found that she likes her kennel to be in our bedroom at night - goes right in and settles in quickly. We've finally been able to go on some walks, and while the first five minutes are VERY exciting, she calms down pretty quickly and walks with a loose leash! Sparkler is such a good dog. She has a lot of puppy energy still, and would probably love a playmate. Like to run? She'd probably love to run with you!  Again, she is VERY treat motivated (we found that Pupperoni is her bribe of choice). She will be very easy to work with and train. She's got her basics down, but could always use refinement or additional training! She is so sweet and goofy. She loves to snuggle and snores very loud when she's comfy. She loves toys, and playing nonstop! Please consider this pocket pup as a companion. She is so wonderful.   7/10/23 Foster Feedback: Meet Sparkler! After a very scary bout with Parvo, this firecracker is healthy and ready for her forever home! She is currently 35lbs at 6 months old. She's got some awkward, lanky legs, so she may get bigger yet. She can sit, lay down, shake, and drop it. We are working on stay and kenneling. She does go in the kennel with some coaxing and treat bribes and then will sing like a Tuesday night karaoke singer... She does calm down though, pretty quickly. We are just refining some potty training. She's almost there! Sparkler can be very sweet, but is mostly in her puppy phase of needing to play, run, tug, and not knowing how to express her energy. Typical puppy behavior, but she is very treat motivated, and easily trainable!  We haven't been able to walk her, due to her parvo, but I have no doubt she will learn quickly!  Right now, she is learning how to "dog" from three chihuahuas. So, she may be awkward and aloof at first. She can be shy/nervous of loud or new sounds. She has a lot of energy and is ready to become your running partner!  Sparkler is a very typical lab puppy/toddler. With some solid training and a schedule, she is going to be an amazing companion! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org April 15, 2024, 10:55 pm

If you qualify and are interested in participating in this program, please fill out an application online and type "SENIOR" after your name.   **   Karlach has been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism is a common hormone imbalance in dogs and is usually caused by inflammation or shrinkage of the thyroid gland. This progressive destruction of the gland leads to diminished thyroid function and insufficient levels of thyroid hormones. She is on daily medication to manage this. The cost is about $23 a month. **   Because of her history of being untreated, she would benefit from a daily skin support supplement, like a fish oil and super EPA. This is over the counter. She is a senior lady, and a large breed dog, she would benefit from a joint supplement daily, like Dasaquin. This is over the counter. **  Karlach has lenticular sclerosis. Lenticular sclerosis is the medical term for a bluish/white, transparent haze that develops in the lens of the eye in middle-aged to senior dogs. It is considered a normal change in the lens associated with aging and is observed as a cloudiness or bluish discoloration on the pupil. Vision does not appear to be significantly affected in dogs diagnosed with lenticular sclerosis. This condition is not the same as cataracts. Cataracts are  opaque white and represent a change in the ability of light to penetrate to the retina causing diminished vision.   Karlach is waiting for someone to take her home to make their home a better place   Foster Home Feedback  3/15/24 Foster Feedback: Meet Karlach (car-lack)! She's a senior lab who, like most of us who are aging, has some thyroid issues. Because of this, she has an almost completely bare belly and tail, and thinning hair. She has it well managed with a reasonable-cost medication. She also takes skin and joint supplements, as she is aging gracefully. It doesn't make her any less lovable though! She is also currently overweight, but we are working hard to get her to a healthy weight.  Karlach is a big lover and has discovered the benefits of couch snuggles. She is potty trained, and knows sit, stay, and shake. We're still working on leash skills and traveling in the car, but a little patience and routine will definitely help. She loves being outside. We have a large, fenced-in backyard that she loves to run around and frolic in the snow. We have not kenneled her, but she does fine in a closed bedroom while we're gone. We have discovered she is a trash dog and loves to counter-surf, which is why she is contained while we're gone. Karlach sleeps on a dog bed in our bedroom at night, and does just fine! She has an adorable howl she lets out when she's excited. I love coming home and being greeted this way.    Karlach would love a comfy retirement home. She mostly sleeps all day, but has her moments of energy. She does great with our small dogs, and has been iffy with bigger dogs. She lived with cats before coming into rescue. She's a great old gal who will be a great dog for someone looking for a calmer companion. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org April 15, 2024, 10:55 pm
