Ellie is a 11 month old lab/great dane puppy. She is a sweetheart who loves cuddles and was given to me by a family friend. Due to personal circumstances I am no longer able to keep her and feel that she deserves the best forever family. This big lug is a super sweet happy guy. He is still a little uneasy about his new surroundings but is adjusting well. He is currently living with 3 other dogs and 2 cats with no issues. Plugsy loves being around people, but he likes to be busy (bones, toys, exploring). I'm sure this will change as he settles in. He is well mannered when meeting new people, no jumping; he just leans in for pets. Plugsy doesn't like being in a room with the doors closed even if you are with him. He is not destructive, just uneasy and will whine. He has come to work the last couple days and has done well in the office. Plugsy crates like a champ. He goes right to his kennel when coming in from playing fetch outside. He walks well with a harness, but he wants to walk which is a good thing as he needs to lose a few pounds. We are working on car rides; Plugsy loves them but seems a little excited/anxious. If he can stick his head out the window, he is totally happy. We will update again as he continues to settle in.   To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org December 3, 2024, 10:40 pm

Giacomo is a big, loveable teddy bear of a dog, and we’re delighted to be his foster family. Originally adopted as a puppy, Giacomo returned to the rescue due to changes in his previous home. When he first arrived, he was understandably scared and sad, but with a little patience, he started to come out of his shell. Giacomo takes his time to adjust, but he’s a dog with many wonderful qualities. He’s house-trained and enjoys free roam while we’re out. Despite his size and ability to reach counters, he never helps himself to food, demonstrating his respectful nature. Giacomo is dog-friendly and plays well with our resident dog. He loves going on walks, though he does pull a bit on the leash. While generally quiet, he will bark at people outside the window. Giacomo would thrive in almost any living environment and would make a great companion for families with kids or individuals looking for a loyal buddy. 4/7/2022 Foster Feedback: The cone is officially off, and he is more of a goofball than ever! Giacomo (JOCK-co-mo) has been doing great this last week and is really enjoying having his cone off. He gets to do all the things he loves again--playing, running, wrestling with the resident dog. And just when you think he's tired of it, he goes right back into it and is ready for round 2. I had to go out of town for a few days, so Giacomo got to spend a little time with a dog sitter. She was so impressed by how kind and considerate he was with her little dogs and how friendly and sweet he was overall. Giacomo is still pretty cautious in new settings and around new people. We've started working on walking, but rather than focus on how to behave with the leash, we've been working on building confidence getting out the door and out into the neighborhood. He's getting more courageous, and we were able to get down the block the last time we tried. We also took a short car ride to MSUM, and he seemed a lot more comfortable walking around the quad where there weren't as many people or loud noises from cars or buses to distract him. We're still working on potty training, and while he hasn't had any accidents lately, we are still going out every 90 minutes or so to make sure. He still does great in his kennel overnight, though. Giacomo is such a friendly little goofball, and he has been so fun to have as a foster. He's going to be a tough one to see go, but he will be a great addition to any home! 3/29/2022 Foster Feedback: Giacomo has certainly had a busy week - but every week is busy when you're a puppy! He went to the vet on Thursday to get neutered, but being the energetic puppy that he is, he was ready to go go go as soon as he got home. He's been very good and cooperating with the limited activity (and wearing the cone), but he's really eager to start running, wrestling, and playing again as soon as he can! Giacomo also got to spend some time with a sitter this weekend. He did great, only had a few accidents inside, but otherwise made a really good adjustment to a new place for a few days. His sitter said he certainly is goofy! He's still learning his size, and he still misses the couch when he jumps every now and then. As far as training, Giacomo is still working on some of the basics. He's got a really good sit when he knows there are treats coming. He doesn't always want to lay down (he's got way too much energy for that!), but he's quickly picking up on the "wait" command. Being part lab, he's also starting to pick up on fetch and is light-years ahead of what my resident beagle likes to do. Giacomo is an awesome dog who's always making me laugh with just how much of a goofball he is. Sweet, gentle, playful, and super willing to please, he's going to make an amazing companion and pet for a lucky owner! 3/21/2022: Hello, world! Meet Giacomo (JOCK-co-mo)! He is a super sweet and wiggly pup who loves to play. He's a bit timid of new people and places at first (he kinda "chuffs" when he first meets someone new), but he warms up quick with a few treats (string cheese is his favorite). He's only been with me a short time, but he is already starting to get comfortable and come out of his shell. He does great with our resident dog, and they have a blast and get a lot of energy out with some rough and tumble wrestling. He is only a few months old, though, so he's still adjusting to his gangly legs and growing size. Some of the things we've started working on are crating and potty training. He puts up a fuss when he goes in the crate, but he's learning to calm himself down. He's also done great overnight and has only had one accident in the house (because his foster dad wasn't quite quick enough in the morning). He's pretty quiet, too! I haven't heard him bark yet. The only sounds I've heard are when he "chuffs" at someone new or whines when he's first put in his crate. Giacomo will make a wonderful four-legged family member for whoever is lucky enough to have him!To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org December 3, 2024, 10:40 pm
