Meet Rozi. Our sweet Red Rozi
Rozi is a 5.5-year-old Labrador Retriever who has been deeply loved her entire life. Originally adopted as a young puppy from FBS, she spent nearly six years in a committed family home before being returned to rescue due to a heartbreaking and very specific safety concern involving a young child in the home. Despite years of management and training efforts, Rozi’s discomfort around young children could not be safely resolved, and the decision was made in the best interest of the child’s safety and Rozi’s well-being.

Rozi is a deeply affectionate, people-oriented dog who bonds quickly and loves attention, cuddling, and being part of daily life. She enjoys social time with other dogs and has done well in structured group settings like doggy daycare as long as not everyone humps her 🙄 That gets annoying.
Rozi’s primary management consideration is her response to young children. After a child was introduced into the home three years ago, extensive effort was made to help her adjust. In most situations, Rozi is calm, social, and able to coexist peacefully just removing herself when uncomfortable. However, if a young child approaches her too quickly or corners her, she will react and has bitten in those specific situations. For this reason, she must not be placed in a home with young children or a home where children visit or she will be expected to be around children. Her ideal family would be 40s or older and no interaction with children, grandchildren, etc.
She also is not appropriate for homes with cats. That Labrador prey drive is strong.
She would be well-suited for a home with dog-savvy teenagers and adults who want a walking partner and cuddle buddy!
Rozi enjoys outdoor time, fetch, food motivation, and simply being near her people. She thrives on routine, connection, and companionship.
She is currently on a simple daily medication for urinary incontinence, which is low-cost, well tolerated, and fully effective. Otherwise, she is in excellent health.
Adoption Info:
Rozi is looking for a stable, adult-focused home (teenagers and up are fine) with no young children or cats. She is a loving, social, and deeply loyal dog who simply needs the right environment where her boundaries are respected and set up for success.
