Story
"Meet Marty! This sweet 7-month-old boy has a heart of gold and ears that could communicate with a satellite on Mars. When he arrived as a stray at the Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre, he was very thin and required a lot of TLC. His animal care team quickly worked to restore his health, but it soon became clear that he had some underlying health concerns. Marty has a bit of a hunch in his back and cannot raise his tail due to joint complications. Despite this, he always has an optimistic waggy tail. He also has an enlarged heart and a significant heart murmur. Marty is an adorable, quiet boy looking for a home where he can live out his days surrounded by love and comfort. Does Marty sound like the right fit for your family? Email orillia@ontariospca.ca or call 705-325-1304 to learn more about him.Note from foster mommy... Marty is the sweetest puppy you'll ever meet. Marty loves everybody and wants everybody to love him. He is such a kind and gentle soul with love for all other animals. Marty doesn't have a bad bone in his body. He is currently living with a canine sister, and some kitties. He likes to give everyone kisses and snuggle with everyone which is not always appreciated by all of the feline members of the household, Lol. Marty doesn't really have a concept of personal space! He really bonds with his hoomans and when he is in the house with you he will literally follow you from room to room, everywhere you go, he just wants to be with you. When he goes outside, he follows his foster sister everywhere. Marty is full of life, he really enjoys going on walks, playing with toys (especially balls) and playing with other dogs. He is a very happy puppy.Marty loves to snuggle on the couch beside you and his favourite thing is belly rubs. Marty is completely toilet trained and very clean in the house. Marty loves company he doesn't really like to be alone. Marty is fine left alone in the house for a few hours with his foster sister, they sleep on the couch together.Marty is no trouble at all. He's a funny little guy that will keep you entertained and give you endless amounts of love and kisses. He truly deserves a loving and wonderful Home and Family to call his own. Story
My name is Scout, and I’m so excited that it’s finally my turn to start looking for my furever home! I am a 10 month Chocolate Lab and I came in to Hank’s with Megaesophagus Disorder. If you’ve been following Hank’s, you know I’ve growing up with my foster families for quite some time. I started off in pretty bad condition, but I’ve greatly improved! I do have to eat in a bailey chair still, but I happily go into it when you announce there is food. My home has to be careful about me getting into too much which is why I am crated when people are out, but don’t worry, I do great in the crate. I’ve been so lucky to have dog siblings in my foster homes and I do great with them. I’ve lived with kids as well but would recommend older/dog experienced kids simply because I’m still jumpy and love to give kisses which might scare some kids. I’m a very typical lab and have lots and love to go on adventures with my family and play with my dog siblings. Here’s what my foster family has to say about me: “Scout is an absolute love bug! If you’re looking for a dog that is always happy to see you, Scout is for you. His energy is electric ! Besides his little health issue, Scout is a normal dog. He loves to play, he can be cuddly and loving. He is always ready for adventure and play! He is a great dog if you're someone that loves to explore, hike, walk or be active. As the days in foster care progress, Scout is learning more and more as his days in foster care grow. He is a fast learner and a quick eater! He’s an incredible little guy that’s ready to fill any home with energy and love If interested in having Scout join your family, please fill out an application here: Adoption Information (hankshaven.ca) Scout is being fostered in Beaverton. Though Scout’s Megaesophagus Disorder is under control, please educate yourself on the condition before applying.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 25, 2024, 4:41 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.VENUS hails from Cat Lake and came south with her 6 puppies in search of a better life. She’s been spayed, vaccinated including her rabies, microchipped and been given a clean bill of health by her vet. We’ve just made an educated guess as to her breeds as unfortunately we have no info on her parentage. She’s a very gentle loving girl who was a wonderful nurturing mum to her puppies. However, she definitely has an energetic side to her too especially when it comes to playing outside.  VENUS is crate trained and sleeps soundly in it at night and will also go in it during the day for a nap. She’s a true northern girl as she has lots of energy for running around and playing outside  in the yard with the two resident dogs but when she comes inside the home, she relaxes quietly on her dog bed where she enjoys chewing on her bone or rubber toys. She’s very good with eating around the other dogs in the home and will sit calmly for her food or treats.  VENUS loves to be around people and to have reassurance that she’s loved. She’ll snuggle with you on the couch or lay right beside your feet. For this reason she would best suit having someone home for a good part of the day with her. She loves going on walks but would benefit from some formal leash training as if she gets excited she will pull. She has never met a cat so we wouldn’t recommend her being in a home with one. She has met children and was very good with them and we’re recommending they should be aged 6 and up and should have large breed dog experience. Her ideal family would be one that loves the outdoors as much as she does and enjoys walking and hiking on the trails too. She travels really well in a vehicle and would always be up for a road trip that leads to an adventure or two. She is housetrained and will let you know when she needs to go outside to use the bathroom. If you would like to meet VENUS then please put in an adoption application. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 26, 2024, 9:35 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ROMEO hails from CAT LAKE in Northern Ontario and he came south with his mum and 5 siblings to find his forever home. His mum is a Labrador Retriever/Gt Pyrenees mix and weighs 60lbs but his dad is unknown. The breed mix we have him listed as and the size he’ll grow to be is just a guess as we really have no way of knowing. He’s had his first and second sets of puppy vaccines, a microchip and been deemed a healthy boy by our vet. His nick name is Chunk due to being the biggest in the litter. He’s a happy-go-lucky, confident and fun loving guy who loves nothing better than giving out puppy kisses and cuddling with you.  ROMEO is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it through the night and will also take his naps in there during the day. His house training is going well and he has very few accidents in the house now and when taken out for a bathroom break he will usually go. He’s doing well on his leash and really enjoys going on walks. He’s a well socialized energetic puppy who loves to play with with all sorts of toys and play chase with the resident dogs in his foster home. He would love to find a family who will take him on walks, hikes and basically enjoy being outside with him. He does okay in a vehicle but it’s not his favourite place to be and a couple of times he’s been in one he’s had an upset tummy. He hasn’t met a cat but if the cat is dog savvy and with a monitored introduction they should get along okay. Children should be aged 6 and up and he does require a fenced-in yard. Puppies are fun and cute but also require a lot of work, patience and dedication to training. We need his potential adopter to be in agreement to sign him up for obedience/puppy training in order to adopt him. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and will be performed at the Barrie SPCA by the time he’s 8 months of age or reaches 60lbs (whichever comes first.) We also need you to be in agreement with this in order to adopt him.  If you would like to meet ROMEO then please submit the adoption application to do so. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 26, 2024, 9:35 pm
