Sweet and Shy Phil Needs a Loving Home Phil is an incredibly sweet boy who is a bit shy but full of love to give. He adores attention and loves to snuggle up and watch TV with you all day long! Phil gets along wonderfully with other dogs and thrives in the company of a playful, friendly canine companion. Having just graduated from our Paws-In-Prison program, Phil has learned all kinds of manners and obedience. He completed two sessions to help him overcome his shyness. While he has made great progress, he remains timid and would benefit from a calm, understanding home that has the patience and time to help him explore the world and overcome his shyness. **Phil Needs:** - A calm environment - A second playful dog in the home - Older kids, calm kids, or no kids - A physical fenced yard due to his shyness Phil was extensively socialized as a pup, but he remains shy despite this. However, his lovable Labrador traits shine through! **Phil's Traits:** - Sweet - Goofy - Food motivated - LOVES people - Playful - Good with dogs - Loves water Phil is ready to find a family that will understand and cherish his gentle nature. Phil's adoption fee has been waived for the right home! Story
Meet Kel! Kel is a proud graduate of our Paws in Prison program and an absolute superstar when it comes to obedience. He has mastered all of his basic commands and knows many fun tricks, too! His inmate trainer put in months of consistent work, and Kel truly shines when given direction. Kel’s story began in a tough place. He was chained outside from the time he was a small puppy until he was about a year old. Because of that, many everyday experiences were new to him when he came into our program. Despite his rough start, Kel has learned quickly and adapted beautifully with patience, structure, and positive training. During his time living inside the prison, Kel did very well coexisting among more than 900 inmates. However, he is most comfortable in smaller, calmer settings where there’s not too much chaos or noise. He can handle some activity and moderate sounds, but loud or unpredictable environments make him uneasy. For that reason, we’re looking for an adult-only home or one with older teens, and a calmer daily routine. Kel is a well-mannered, relaxed, and loyal dog who would thrive in a home that includes him in everyday life but doesn’t have constant commotion or lots of visitors. He loves to train, adores his people, and truly wants to please. Kel will make an incredible companion for someone who enjoys spending time with their dog, working together, and giving him the stable, loving home he deserves. ⸻ Be sure to visit our Facebook page for additional pictures and information on our rescues! “Canine Partners Program Inc” Please note: We cannot guarantee breed or breed mix. Our knowledge is based on limited background information or what may have been provided by a previous owner. A change in environment may affect behavior; therefore, we cannot guarantee personality traits, temperament, or preferences. All of our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, rabies, microchipping, Heartworm and Lyme testing, deworming, flea/tick treatment, and Heartworm prevention. Any additional medical care needed is also provided. Foster-to-adopt dogs live with you while receiving any remaining care. Once all vetting is completed, the adoption is finalized. Our adoption fee includes a 6-week group obedience class (a $125 value). If adopting an underage puppy, we cover the cost of spay/neuter at 6 months of age. Story
Willa is a lab mix - we are not sure what the mix is but she looks like a pit bull/terrier. She is food motivated, extremely playful, energetic, and smart. She loves children and other animals, but she has a LOT of energy and can be a little overwhelming. She has only been around outdoor cats and an outdoor dog. She also prefers men to women. Most of the day she lays around and chews on toys, but when she wants attention and is hyper you will know. Rehoming because of busy schedule/changing life circumstances and she has so much energy that I’m not able to work out of her. It’s not fair to her and I want her to have a home that is the best fit.

Story
Morty looks like big tough dog but really, he's a big softy who is scared of his own shadow. He has tiny ears and a big heart. Morty has a moderate energy level. There are times where he will lay down and sleep for hours, and also times he will want to play like. maniac. He loves to chew on things and have peanut butter filled Kongs. He likes to swim, play fetch, be chased, and shred stuffed animals. Morty enjoys long walks where he is allowed to sniff out the path to see who was there before. He also enjoys rawhide bones, playing with anything you can throw, playing "catch me if you can", and sleeping in a papasan chair. Morty likes things to be predicable and would do best in a home with older children who know that even dogs have boundaries. Morty is a diva who would like to be the only animal in the house. Morty has passed all his basic obedience classes with flying colours. He is a neutered man who is fully vaccinated including Lyme. He recently had a 4DX test done for parasites

Duke Silver

Labrador Retriever Mixed Breed (Medium)

Male, 1 yr 7 mos
Westfield, NY
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
From Duke’s foster mom: – good in car – doing well with other dogs in house – plays upon request but doesn’t initiate play himself – eats kibble sparingly and prefers treats -Slept eight hours without a peep in crate – knows sit, stay, down -Takes treats very gently -settles inside the house easily -is very strong and pulls on leash (will work on this) -Definitely house trained. Zero accidents Duke would be a great dog for someone who wants a running /hiking partner, or wants a young dog but doesn’t love the training part. He has clearly been well trained and knows how to behave inside the house and with other dogs. Dashing Duke Silver arrived at NCCR in late October as a local stray. Since his owner did not come forward to claim him, he is now ready to hunt for a forever home of his own. Believed to be around 1-2 years old, and guessed to be a mix of Labrador Retriever and possibly Pointer or Hound (maybe both?), this sporting mix is lively, energetic, and likes to keep himself busy. He enjoys playing with toys, and seems to be friendly to the other dogs around him at the shelter. He appears to have been well cared for previously, and has a nice, outgoing temperament. Duke is hoping for a family that can continue with daily training, give him lots of exercise, 1-on-1 attention and playtime, and has room in their home and heart for a big, active, playful buddy. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your next step should be to complete an Adoption Application. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them. NYS Registration #RR028
