Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Luca, the Adventure-Loving Cuddlebug! He is the perfect boy for an active family!! At a year old and 40 lbs, he has the personality of a lab in a compact body! Luca is a bundle of joy whose love for life is absolutely contagious! When he first arrived at his foster home, he was a shy, cautious little soul. But oh, how he has flourished! Luca has transformed into the ultimate cuddlebug, eager to snuggle up and share his unending love and affection. Previously timid with the leash, Luca now bounds forward with newfound confidence, eagerly awaiting his daily explorations. His zest for life and boundless curiosity make every walk an adventure. Whether frolicking in a spacious yard catching frisbees or play-wrestling with a canine pal, Luca is happiest when active and involved in family activities. He is a fairly quiet dog; he barks outside when someone comes to the fence or inside the yard, but he doesn't bark inside....and we're not sure if his outside barking is because he's copying the other dogs in the home or if it's his own idea. If he's in his crate, he will bark to alert that he needs to go out, but otherwise he is quiet indoors.  Though a bit reserved around new faces, Luca quickly warms up to become a loving lap dog once he feels secure. For this reason, a home with another friendly and active dog would be ideal for him. Luca’s sociable nature shines brightest in the company of his canine friends! Luca isn’t just about outdoor escapades; he’s equally content to stay indoors, showering his humans with affection and delighting in his toy collection. His gentle demeanor makes him a perfect companion for children, with whom he is always careful and sweet. He would be the perfect family dog, for children to grow up with. One of Luca’s charming features is his adorable short, docked tail. We don't know if he was born that way or someone docked it at his birth. We did have a DNA test donated and Luca is a little mix of everything! He quite literally is a mix of (a small percentage each) TWENTY different breeds, a multi-generational mutt! If you're seeking a devoted, playful, friendly and loyal companion who is as enthusiastic about adventure as he is about snuggle time, Luca is your boy. Come meet him and let the adventures begin! Luca has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heart worm tested, dewormed and is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. He is ready to find his forever home!  Luca's adoption fee is $200.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/. The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care. Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy. We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter. CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract. CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it. July 10, 2025, 12:11 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Red's family asked us to find him a home, through our "My Home to Yours" complementary posting. Here is what she says about him: "He does not like to be outside, so he potties and then cries until he’s let back in-- so definitely an inside doggy. He is 7-8 years old, and is very friendly and cuddly but can also be very clingy and has separation anxiety. He is around children very comfortably, but we recommend older respectful kids since Red had a bad experience when an unsupervised toddler jumped on him and pulled his tail. Red loves his humans, being safe inside, and being loved! He is not a fan of hiking or adventures to a dog park so if you are looking for a solid easy-to-care-for pet, Red would most likely be a lovely fit. "My Home to Yours" We have had numerous requests from citizens in our county to help them rehome their pets, but they are willing to keep them in the home until it happens, rather than bring them to the overflowing shelter at Campbell County Animal Control near Yellow Branch. We are listing those cats and dogs on our website as "My Home to Yours." We ask that interested adopters fill out the FOAC application, and we will pass it along to the family wanting to rehome. We cannot guarantee health, temperament, or behavior for these pets, as we have not met them. However, we are happy to act as a resource for issues that may arise. **For pets not spayed or neutered, we are happy to help set that up! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Tommy – The Goofy, Treat-Loving Softie   Tommy is a handsome hound mix with the most expressive eyes and a heart that’s slowly learning to trust again. While he can be unsure around men at first, this sweet boy is making great progress with patient guidance and gentle kindness. Once you’ve earned his trust, Tommy transforms into a playful goofball who loves attention, gives gentle kisses, and eagerly soaks up affection.   Tommy enjoys playing outside, especially with other pups — he recently had a blast splashing around in the kiddie pool with his buddy Strawberry Moon! He’s also a big fan of treats and will happily show off his charm to earn one (or a few).   This lovable boy may start off a little reserved, but those who take the time to understand him will find a loyal, fun-loving companion. He thrives in calm environments where he can build trust at his own pace and would benefit from a home that can continue to help him feel safe and loved.   If you believe in second chances and have a soft spot for underdogs, Tommy is ready to steal your heart — one tail wag at a time. https://www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org/forms/form?formid=3709 PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. It’s always sad when an eight-year-old dog needs to find a new home, but we were especially sorry that Sophie had to be relinquished due to her family‘s housing issues. Sometimes life hands you lemons, and other times it’s good. Sophie took it all in stride when she first came to us, but we know she is sad that she doesn’t have a loving teenager taking care of her anymore, and we know she misses her mom. She had been with one family her entire life. we are doing our best to fill in an offer her quiet times during the day, but it’s pretty stressful at the shelter. Sophie is house trained, and appreciate a nice snuggly bed to sleep in without destroying it. she has been good with most of the other dogs she meets, although she’s not happy to meet them through the fence at the kennel run gates. She met a kitten today at the shelter and was basically interested and then ready to move on without feeling like she had to spend time with it. she enjoyed a car ride to McDonald’s, and then was glad to get back home to the shelter. Can you offer this dog a nice quiet place to rest, and a place to call home? That’s what she needs. She is spayed, microchipped, current with vaccines and a heartworm test. . Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Skunk is a young, energetic Labrador mix who is finally getting the attention and care he always deserved. Much of his early life was spent as a backyard dog with little family interaction, so the shelter team and volunteers are working hard to help him learn manners, build confidence, and become the wonderful companion we know he can be.   This boy is highly active, friendly with new people, and eager to please. He already knows how to sit on command and is very treat motivated—perfect for continued training. Skunk walks well on the leash most of the time, but like many young, energetic dogs, he can get excited if he sees something that interests him. He settles down quickly, though, and is learning every day.   Skunk enjoys attention and loves to be petted, though he prefers not to stay still for too long—he’s always ready for the next adventure! With proper guidance, consistency, and plenty of exercise, he has excellent potential to thrive in a loving home.   Because he missed out on early socialization, Skunk will do best with an adopter willing to provide supervision and structure, especially around other dogs. Volunteers describe him as fun, strong, and very willing to learn. He is a smart boy who just needs the right person to continue building on the progress he’s making here.   If you’re looking for an active, trainable companion who’s ready for a fresh start, Skunk could be the perfect fit for you!
