Story
Meet Carter, a spirited red Miniature Pinscher with a heart full of energy and charm! Despite his age, Carter remains incredibly spry and loves to stay active, making him a perfect companion for an energetic household. He is highly social and thrives on interaction, always eager to make new friends. If you're looking for a playful, affectionate pup to brighten your days, Carter is the one for you! Here's some notes from his foster: Carter is the sweetest boy! As his previous foster mentioned, "curious" is the best word to describe this busy little guy. He does a lot of exploring around our apartment and is always following us around to see what we're getting up to. He LOVES walks (he knows what that word means for sure) and is able to go very long distances (up to 6 miles so far!) After some adventuring, he is content to sleep and cuddle in his bed or on the couch next to you for the rest of the day - the best of both worlds! Carter has a lot of behavior and energy similar to a puppy. I think some people looking for a senior dog might be surprised at his youthfulness. Carter is a little nervous at first, but warms up easily - he needs a gentle touch at first to gain trust and then will be a big ball of love. Carter has not shown any leash aggression or any other concerning behaviors - we went to a few parks so far as well. He is curious about some dogs on walks and will start heading their direction and has sniffed appropriately, never lunging. For the most part, he is so intent on the walk and whatever is ahead of him that he barely registers many of the dogs we encounter! After only a few accidents the first couple of days, Carter seems to be housetrained He goes right to the door to ask to go outside. We left Carter alone for about 30 minutes and heard no barking - he was calmly laying on the couch when we got back. So far we have gathered that he knows his name, “Sit”, and “walk”! Potentially “treat” as well :) Carter has really started showing us more of his funny personality after being with us for a full week - it is amazing to see how comfortable he has become in our home with a little love. He is so playful and loves to run and be chased in our small yard. He burrows in every blanket he can find. He will be your constant companion and bring such fun and joy to his forever home!!

Story
Looking for the perfect mix of charm, grace, and sweetness? Meet Crayola, a 12-year-old miniature pinscher with a heart of gold and a strut that will steal yours! Always curious about her surroundings, Crayola’s inquisitive nature makes her a delight to watch, especially when she’s motivated by her favorite thing in the world—treats! This elegant senior lady is the ultimate walking partner, showcasing the cutest little walk that’s guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. With plenty of love to give, Crayola is ready to find a forever home that treasures her gentle, loyal spirit. Could she be your next best friend? Here's some notes from her foster: You guys, seriously, you HAVE to meet Crayola. She's the sweetest girl, with this amazing spark! She keeps up with my kid, no problem. They're best buds. And honestly, she loves everyone. Other dogs? Totally cool. Kids? Adorable. Adults? Instant bestie. She met a cat on a leash too and was fine! She's got this funny little wiggle dance she does when she needs to go outside, it's the cutest thing. And she's a champion snuggler. Like, bury-her-nose-in-a-blanket-and-cuddle-up-next-to-you champion. Honestly, after a long day, having her curled up next to you is the best. She's still got tons of energy. We go on walks, she does stairs like they're nothing, jumps on the couch for prime cuddle spots. She's just... easy. A good, chill dog who just wants to be loved. If you're looking for a dog who's already got the whole 'good dog' thing down, who's sweet and loving and just wants to hang out, you seriously need to meet Crayola. She's got so much love to give, and I just know she'd make someone so happy.

Story
Seven year old Frida is looking for some dog people to live with that want a really affectionate, sweet dog to join them with walks, play and cuddling. Her background is sketchy at best, but she has learned to walk reasonably well on leash, gets along with other dogs on walks, has recently welcomed a visiting dog, and loves her trips to Golden Gate Park dog run. She is still initially nervous about visitors, but one treat can create a friendship. She currently sleeps in her fosters’ bed, is crate trained and does well when left alone. She has a huge appetite that needs to be watched as she would love to be a fat girl. She is now just right at 13 lbs. She has learned quite a few commands and easily fits into household daily life. She sometimes lets you know when a strange dog is passing her house but it can be minimized, and you will usually be notified of postal deliveries. By far, Frida's favorite day is being with her humans whether on a walk, in the car, visiting a store, or wherever you happen to be. As she has spent a number of months with her foster family, she comes with an offer of free boarding if you have a vacation or weekend away that can’t include a dog or just some visits. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Frida is $300. If you are interested in adopting Frida, please complete our online adoption application at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/  . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. November 5, 2024, 10:42 pm
