Story
My name is Holden, but most often my foster family calls me "Mr. Handsome" or "Sweet Boy." I am both of those things, if I do say so myself. One thing you need to know about me is that I had a back problem so now I cannot use my rear legs. This is VERY common in dachshunds. However, it doesn't slow me down one bit. This gorgeous lover boy is a gentle soul with a bark that sounds like bubbles and he’s also a very talented squeaky toy musician. Sometimes foster ma has to confiscate it so she can work! Other than that he’s a quiet guy who loves to cuddle, take sun naps outside on the deck and beg for dinner like any other dog. I may not walk like other dogs do, but I sure do have a happy life and a happy attitude. My foster mom can teach you to take care of me, it's not difficult. It's not any more work than any other dog is, it's just a bit different. Here's what you get when you adopt me: bedroom eyes, soft long hair in a beautiful mahogany color, cuddles galore, and a constant companion. I am a very good and gentle boy! I don't bark very much, but when I do, my foster ma says I sound like I am underwater. I have no idea what that means, but I'll demonstrate when we meet. I need a home with lots of toys, snuggly blankets, and someone willing to deal with a little poop once in a while. My bladder needs to be expressed manually, but you just squeeze my tummy and out it comes. No biggie. Takes 20 seconds and it's super easy to learn. I love meeting new people, and I am very friendly to everyone i meet. If you are interested in adopting Holden, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform2.shtml . Holden 's adoption fee is $350.00. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Holden will go to his new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook

Story
How delicious is a dapple? Vince is no exception to that hard and fast rule. This boy has personality in SPADES! He is such a cool little wiener dog with a curious way of seeing the world. His previous owners loved him but did not have the means to care for him properly when he suffered an IVDD back injury. Once he came into DREAM, we took Vance in right away to see our specialist vet, who performed surgery on three ruptured discs. Since then, he's gone through physical therapy and his foster mama is a pro at helping him through all of his stretches and exercises, and short of getting him a Pilates reformer, he's gotten the works for sure. While the surgery and therapy has helped him greatly, he will need to be expressed to help him to go potty. When kept on a schedule of expressing, he’s house trained . To help him get around, Vance has a new set of wheels and he absolutely loves rolling around exploring all the world has to offer. He's a friendly little muppet who loves his people and has the gumption to thrive no matter his circumstances. It's impossible to be around him without smiling. If you are interested in adopting Vance, you can fill out an application right on our website. Go to our online adoption application. Vance's adoption fee is $400. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Vance will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. Story
Join the Chiweenie Clubini! Bogie is about the cutest, sweetest little pudding pot you've ever laid eyes on. Bogie is the whole package of an adorable little long haired solid black (except for a little white on his chest) chihuahua. He's 14 lbs of puppy energy and around 1 year 6 months old, just a boy in dog years. And two words for you...potty trained.HALLELUJAH - amirite? This little nug-nug was [just barely] captured running down the interstate with no collar and no real hope. A good samaritan saw Bogie hobbling down an interstate and pulled over to see about him. He was very frail, hungry, afraid and determined not to be caught. The good samaritan called her husband to come help catch Bogie which was not an easy task, but they got it done. He was taken to a vet and after x-rays confirmed he had a fractured leg which had happened several weeks prior, and that the bone had already started healing and was lined up perfectly. Crate rest and confinement was a must so the bone could finish healing and stay lined up through the process. No one really knows for sure, but we believe Bogie was probably hit by a car. The sweet lady that saved him could not keep him long term so he ended up at DREAM. In November Bogie’s foster mom noticed he started limping and walking on 3 legs. The fractured leg that was healing nicely was the weight bearing leg. It was his hip on the other leg giving him trouble. After more extensive x-rays we learned he needed a total hip replacement. After the growth plates closed he got a brand new hip on January 9th. He’s loving his new hip and raring to go, go, go! He feels so much better and just wants to play. He can finally be the normal little happy playful boy he deserves to be. One thing he’s ready for now, is a forever home! Now that he has a clean bill of health from the doctors after his surgery, he is showing how much he loves to play chase or light puppy wrestling with his youngest foster sibling. All during the time he wasn’t allowed to walk or run, he would lay on his back in his foster dad’s chair and play gently. He enjoys tugging on a rope, chewing on rubber toys and chasing the ball. He if fascinated by flying bugs and tries to chase them. He has a good eye for those pesky squirrels and will go after them with great excitement. This boy absolutely needs a fenced in yard so he can pursue his delight in running free. Bogie is soooooo very sweet. Not a big kisser but he is already a pro with regards to lap time. He’s a Velcro dog because you can’t leave the room without him being on your heels. He would definitely do best with another fur sibling in the house. He cuddles with his foster home pack for naps or bedtime. He thrives on routine (as most dogs do). He is fully satisfied to stay in a crate when you leave or at bed time. But I’m sure he’d love to snuggle in his human’s bed as well. Because of his recovering from surgery, walks were not an option for two months. At first he was suspicious of the leash, but after 10 minutes on a leash he got the hang of it. He is very teachable and curious. His tail shows his true colors, wagging almost constantly as everyone who meets him tells him what a good boy he is. He's enjoying lots of good food and putting some weight on, and is a great little companion with his people and can hang with other small dogs in the house. Whomever ever gets this lad, will have a friend for life. He is smart, curious, playful and sweet. What more could a person want? If you're interested in sweet baby Bogie, don't wait to fill out an application. If you are interested in adopting Bogie, you can fill out an application right on our website!
