Meet sweet ARWEN who just arrived! Arwen is a handsome 2 year old, 17 pound, cream with white, long-hair dachshund hound/Tibetan spaniel mix. He initially is shy but warms up relatively quickly; he needs to build his confidence! Arwen gets along well with other dogs, and ignores the kitties. Arwen lost his way in rural North Carolina and we can not understand why his people did not retrieve such a sweet dog from the NC shelter. Volunteers at the shelter let us know that he was a very sweet shy dog that need to feel safe to warm up, be his playful self. With the offer of from a great foster home, PetConnect was able to come to his rescue and bring him to the DC area to find his new home that will adore him furever. The "big city" may be a bit daunting to this country boy, so he may not be a good fit for someone living in a city environment -- too much traffic noise will scare poor Arwen! Moreover, he probably will be best in an adult home or a less active home with older children, and may need some patience as he overcomes his shyness. In the comfort of his foster home, he has already learned how good it can be to get belly rubs and cuddle! He likes to go for walks, is a great size, with an adorable very expressive face and eyes. Arwen would be a great companion to curl up at your feet on a cool fall evening. ***Please note that the first step is to fill out an application (It does not commit you in anyway but allows us to discuss with you if you and the dog are a good fit). In addition, an important step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies ) , spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Arwen is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system.
