Lhasa Apso puppies and dogs in British Columbia

Hello! My name is NABI and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: likely a Lhasa Apso mix Age: 2.5 years old Gender: female Weight: 15 lbs (7 kg) Current Location: S. KOREA RESCUE STORY - I haven't had the easiest start to my life. In January 2026, I was found living alongside approximately 200 other dogs in a hoarding situation in Nowon-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Luckily, my rescuers stepped in just in time!  I was rescued alongside another dog who has since been adopted through WCP, and now it’s my turn to find the loving forever family I’ve been waiting for Despite my difficult beginning, my rescuers describe me as a gentle, calm, and easygoing gal. I’m not a dog who needs to be the centre of attention — I’m perfectly happy taking things at my own pace and enjoying the simple things in life. TEMPERAMENT - I’m a sweet and easygoing girl who is comfortable around both women and men. I’m also very tolerant of handling and am comfortable having my face, paws, and belly touched. I tend to have a calm, independent personality. Around other dogs, I’m generally relaxed and non-aggressive, but I’m not particularly interested in initiating play. I’m more of a “you do your thing, I’ll do mine” kind of gal! Given my background, my future family should understand that adjusting to a completely new environment may take some time. I would do best with people who are patient, gentle, and willing to let me decompress and build confidence at my own pace. My adopters should be prepared for the possibility that I may need some time to fully settle into my new life. MY IDEAL HOME: A calm, loving home where I can decompress, settle in, and gain confidence at my own pace. An adopter who understands that dogs coming from hoarding situations may need patience and consistency as they adjust to all the new sights, sounds, routines, and experiences of life in a home. A home with a yard would be a bonus, but is not required. I can live happily in an apartment as long as I receive regular walks and outdoor potty breaks. I would do well as the only dog in the home, where I can enjoy having my people all to myself. Someone who appreciates a quiet, low-key companion rather than a dog who needs constant activity or entertainment. A family who is committed to continuing my training and helping me build confidence through positive reinforcement and gentle guidance. ENERGY LEVEL - Low. I am a calm, easygoing gal! I enjoy going for walks, but I also love my rest and relaxation time. I even have a cute little habit of climbing on top of my crate to relax  I’m not looking for a super-active lifestyle. I’d be very happy with some daily walks, opportunities to sniff and explore, and plenty of cozy relaxation time with my family. GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. I have not had any interactions with children yet, so I am unsure how I will react. Because of my background, any introductions to children should be slow, supervised, and respectful of my comfort level and body language. Dogs – Yes, I get along well with other dogs! I do not usually initiate play, and prefer to do my own thing, but around other dogs I stay calm and non-aggressive (see videos here and here). When I meet another dog during a walk, I usually just give them a quick sniff and then move on! Cats – Unknown. I have not had any interactions with cats yet, so I am unsure how I will react. PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Pretty good! (see videos here, here, and here)! I already have some lovely leash manners and enjoy getting out for walks. I would love an adopter who is happy to continue building on these skills with me. A well-fitted harness, consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement will help me continue to succeed! House trained – Work in progress. I currently do very well with outdoor potty breaks, but I am still learning. Moving to a completely new environment can also temporarily cause accidents, even for dogs who have previously been doing well. Frequent potty breaks, a consistent routine, and positive reinforcement will help me understand what is expected in my new home. Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I tend to have slightly watery eyes, similar to other small, long-haired breeds. Routine cleaning around my eyes is recommended and appreciated :) I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. Meet Rza ❤️ Rza is tiny, ridiculously fluffy, completely adorable, and absolutely convinced that wherever you are is exactly where he needs to be. At 2 years old and approximately 11 to 12 pounds, this Lhasa Apso mix has a huge personality packed into a very fluffy little body. He goes by Rza, Taz, Reggie, and The Rizz, although Taz may be the most fitting. When the zoomies hit, this little guy is all gas and no brakes! He also makes hilarious little gremlin noises when playing with his toys. Rza loves his people and wants to be wherever you are. He follows you from room to room, including the bathroom, snuggles on the bed, burrows between the pillows, and loves sleeping on his favourite bath mat. He enjoys plush toys, Kongs, antlers, socks, face cloths, and, for reasons known only to Rza, sometimes a spatula. As cute and funny as Rza is, his behavioural needs cannot be overlooked because he is adorable. Rza struggles with anxiety, particularly on walks. His response to people and other animals can be unpredictable. Sometimes walks are great, while other times his anxiety causes him to bark and react. Treats can help, but he needs an adopter who understands his triggers, recognizes his stress signals, and can consistently help him manage his anxiety. Rza is currently on anxiety medication to help manage his anxiety. Medication is an important part of his care, but it is not a substitute for training, structure, and management. An online behavioural course will be required as part of Rza's adoption. This is not optional. His adopter must be willing to learn about his anxiety, understand his needs, and continue the work after adoption. This does mean they do need to be in the Okanagan to be close to our rescue for support. Rza needs routine, structure, and clear expectations. His fluffy face and tiny size make him incredibly easy to spoil, but allowing him to get away with things because he is cute will not help him. He needs someone who can be loving and patient while also being consistent with boundaries. Rza is good with other dogs and cats, although people and animals outside the home can trigger his anxiety. He does need a kid free home and a yard. He is generally doing well with house training but still needs supervision, as he may rush back inside before finishing his business. He is comfortable in his kennel and settles once his people leave, although he may bark initially. Most importantly, Rza needs someone who understands the difference between a dog giving you a hard time and a dog having a hard time. He may be tiny. He may be fluffy. He may be irresistible. But Rza needs more than someone who falls in love with his face. He needs someone prepared to understand him, set appropriate boundaries, and commit to the work.
