Story
🐾 Meet Alastor – The One-Eyed Wonder with a Heart of Gold 🐾 Breed: Lhasa Apso x Maltese (best guess( Age: ~6 years old Weight: ~10 kg Neutered: Yes Vaccinated: Up to date Location: Vancouver, BC Adoption Fee: $750 Alastor’s story is one of quiet strength and resilience. Three years ago, locals in Taiwan found him wandering the streets with his right eyeball hanging from its socket after an unknown injury. With limited medical resources available, the shelter veterinarian put his eye back into the socket — the best they could do under the circumstances. Sadly, due to his eye condition and appearance, Alastor spent the next three years in the shelter, overlooked time and time again. Despite this, he remained gentle, affectionate, and hopeful. When our team met him, we immediately knew he deserved a second chance. Alastor has since received the proper medical care he needed, including the safe removal of his damaged eye. He has healed beautifully and has adjusted wonderfully to life with one eye. His spirit, charm, and resilience have remained unshaken — and now, he’s ready to begin his new chapter in Vancouver. ✨ Personality & Temperament Alastor is an exceptionally sweet, affectionate, and social dog. He loves going for walks, exploring the outdoors, and snuggling up for attention. He’s great with people, cats, and children, and enjoys being part of family life. Even though he has one eye, he gets around confidently and doesn’t let it slow him down one bit! Alastor is healthy, calm, and easygoing — the kind of companion who brings warmth and joy wherever he goes. 🏡 Ideal Home Alastor would do best in a loving home where he can be included in daily activities, go for walks, and enjoy lots of affection. He’s adaptable to both active families and quieter households. His easygoing nature makes him a wonderful fit for adopters looking for a well-mannered, loyal, and grateful companion. ❤️ Health & Care • Fully vetted, vaccinated, and neutered • Right eye removed (fully healed, no ongoing treatment required) • Healthy and active • Eats well and enjoys multiple short to moderate walks throughout the day Alastor has overcome so much, yet his spirit remains bright and loving. If you’re looking for a resilient, gentle, and devoted companion, Alastor might be your perfect match. 📩 Interested in adopting Alastor? Story
Hi, I’m Bruno and If you want a dog who will greet you with joy and make you smile every day, I’m ready.  Breed: Bichon Frise Age: 7.5 years Gender: Male     Weight: 17 lb    Height: 32 inches I get along with: Dogs but I don't know about cats or kids Fears: Non observed . Please be patient assisting me in my transition. Leash skills: Yes. Please be prepared to continue training. House trained: Yes 90% Health notes: I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Adoption fee: $800.00 CAD + taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Highlight(s): affectionate, social, gentle, calm About Me - I’m a cheerful, affectionate Bichon Frise who loves people with my whole heart. I’m calm, confident, and affectionate I’m gentle, trusting, and very comfortable around humans I’m extremely social and have a bright, happy personality. I love attention and human company—I’ll happily let strangers hug me, pick me up, and rub my belly. I’m not shy at all, and I truly enjoy being around people. I’m great with other dogs, too. I currently live peacefully with more than 10 small- to medium-sized dogs. I like to say hello to new friends, no matter their size, but after a brief greeting, I’m content doing my own thing. At parks, I enjoy running on my own rather than roughhousing—I’m confident and independent, but still very loving. Don't let my age fool you, I have a good amount of energy and I love going on walks and exploring outdoors but once I’m home, I settle down nicely. The couch is my favorite place to relax. I walk well on leash, follow my handler closely, and I’m not afraid of city noises or busy environments. I’m also excellent at getting in and out of the car and never get carsick.  I’m not very interested in toys, but I’m very interested in you. I rarely bark (only sometimes to ask for something), don’t try to escape, and haven’t shown any signs of separation anxiety. I have no aggression, andn no resource guarding toward people or dogs. I haven’t met cats yet, so that part of my story is still unwritten. My Story - I was taken to a shelter on September 22nd by my family. I know they loved me but for some reason they couldn't keep me but they did teach me how to love. I've been waiting for over two months in a kill shelter while others younger dogs were chosen but finally, on November 8th, I was given my chance to leave the shelter and start fresh in a foster home. I’ve been waiting patiently for someone to see me for who I am. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will brighten your days and rest happily by your side, I’m here—and I can’t wait to meet you. Health notes: I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Adoption fee: $800.00 CAD + taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##2613908##
