Story
Meet Bentley — A Loyal, Energetic Little Companion Looking for His Perfect Match
Bentley is a Lhasa Apso/Maltese mix, neutered, adorable, and full of personality. He’s a highenergy, playful boy who loves fetch, cuddles, and being close to his people. Bentley has been deeply loved, and his family is making the difficult decision to rehome him only because he is scared of young children. They want him to have a home where he can feel safe, understood, and set up for success.
Bentley’s Personality
Bentley is a sweet, affectionate lap dog once he trusts you. He loves:
Playing fetch (his absolute favorite activity)
Going for walks — he’s great on a leash
Cuddling and giving kisses
Being near his people
Having another dog or pet around for comfort
He’s active, fun, and full of life. With the people he knows, he is gentle, loving, and incredibly loyal.
Important Behavior Notes
Bentley has significant fear and anxiety around new people. When strangers enter the home, he may:
Bark or Growl
Once Bentley realizes he is safe, he becomes a completely different dog — sweet, snuggly, and eager to please. Even with his current family, it took time for him to warm up, but now he is a total sweetheart.
Medical
Bentley has idiopathic epilepsy and takes Phenobarbital 16.2 mg, which costs about $10/month. With medication, he typically has one seizure per month and otherwise lives a normal, happy life.
Home Requirements
Bentley will thrive in a home that is:
Quiet and lowtraffic (not many visitors)
Without young children (age 10+ should be okay)
Patient and experienced with anxious dogs
Able to give him time to decompress and build trust
Equipped with a fenced yard or located in a rural area
Home often — he loves companionship
Open to slow introductions with new people and pets
He is housebroken, crate trained, leash trained, and uses potty pads if needed. He does well with other dogs and enjoys having a furry friend around.
Why Bentley Is Worth It
Bentley is a sweet, energetic, loving boy who just needs the right environment. In a calm home with patient people, he will blossom into the affectionate, playful companion he truly is. He has so much love to give — he just needs someone willing to help him feel safe enough to show it.
Bentley is ready for a fresh start with someone who understands him, believes in him, and will give him the secure, loving home he deserves.
The suggested adoption donation for Bentley is $ 375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.

From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site.
