Meet Murphy — a 5 month old, 16 lb Lhasa Apso mix whose life may have started on the wrong paw, but his spirit is nothing short of joyful! Originally bred as indoor watchdogs in Tibetan monasteries, they tend to be alert and expressive, yet deeply affectionate with their families. What to Love about Murphy: Abandoned in an apartment in early May, Murphy has shown incredible resilience! He’s full spirited, energetic, outgoing, and sweet — the kind of puppy who greets every person and dog like a new friend. He loves car rides, enjoys baths, and is happiest exploring the outdoors on his walks. Murphy has a playful, bouncy side, but he also knows how to settle. After a good session of toy tossing and zoomies, he’ll curl up in his dog bed for a well earned nap. He’s crate trained and can stay crated for up to three hours, and at night he sleeps peacefully with his foster mom. He’s doing wonderfully with potty training — about 90% there — and thrives with positive reinforcement, treats, praise, and regular potty breaks. This friendly boy loves everyone he meets and is fantastic with other dogs. He especially enjoys playing with bigger dogs and would be thrilled to have a playful canine sibling in his forever home. He hasn’t lived with kids yet, but would likely do well with school aged children 8+. He hasn’t been around cats, but he’s open to a meet and greet. With puppy energy to spare, Murphy needs plenty of exercise, stimulation, and continued training as he grows. He’s learning good leash manners and loves to instigate play, followed by adorable 15 minute zoomie sessions before he crashes for a nap. Murphy is looking for a family who can give him time, structure, and lots of love as he continues to grow into the happy, confident, affectionate dog he’s meant to be.
