Story
Max is a sweet and happy boy, and his breed is a Lowchen. This breed is also known as the Little Lion Dog. He is one year old and weighs 10 pounds. Max is a one-of-a-kind guy; he just loves everyone and loves to play. A very friendly boy, he loves both dogs and people. Max is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and is playpen trained and house-trained. He gets excited when it is time to eat, and he loves his toys. This boy is a special breed and a wonderful soul. He will need a home with a yard so he can run and play, and another little dog, if possible, to play with. His adopter must be retired or working from home. Due to his small size, no kids under 16 years old, please. Max is hypoallergenic and requires daily grooming. If you are interested in Max, go to www.arrfsandiego.org and fill out an adoption application. All of ARRF's dogs are in foster homes, and it may be a few days before you are contacted about your application. We are a very small rescue, so please be patient. Thank you.

Meet Miss Lola, a young spayed Bichon mix weighing about 15 lbs. This sweet, curious girl has puppy energy, loves being involved with her people, and enjoys playtime and companionship. She is currently NOT in our care and is at the Santa Cruz SPCA.Lola is friendly with new people, does well with small dogs, and may adjust to larger dogs with proper introductions. She may also do okay with dog-savvy cats. She thrives in a structured, calm environment with clear routines and guidance.Lola has a history of resource guarding, including a past bite related to guarding an item. In the shelter, she has shown that with structure, boundaries, and thoughtful handling, she does very well. Three year old, 11 lb, Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu mix Pauly entered the county shelter as a stray. He was very reactive at the shelter, but calmed once he came into our care. While he likes people, Pauly can be shy/protective with new people, and doesn't like some men. He also doesn't like confinement. Pauly prefers to be with other dogs, especially small ones. He likes to play with soft toys. Pauly would be happiest with another dog in the home. He likes to deal with one person at a time, and is not appropriate for a home with children or people who are not experienced in handling dogs who may get moody. The ideal home for Bruno would be where someone is home a lot, with a backyard for him to run around and someone who loves to walk and play with him, and another playful dog would be ideal.
