Story
At just 2 years old and 16 lbs, this handsome, male Bichon Frise is ready to trade his past for a lifetime of love with his forever family. Due to unfortunate medical circumstances, his Mom had to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender him to our rescue. Sweet, friendly, and full of personality, Charlie is hoping to find someone who will become his new best friend. This happy, sweet little guy is already potty trained, crate trained, and rides calmly in the car, making him an easy companion for everyday adventures. Whether you're heading to the park, running errands, or relaxing at home, Charlie is happiest when he's by your side. Since he was used to his prior owner staying home, he has learned to be a velcro dog but can be left in a crate or left to free roam with his favorite bones, because sometimes kids' toys seem fun to chew too!  He's playful, affectionate, and gets along wonderfully with everyone he meets, including adults, children, other dogs, and even cats. His gentle nature makes him a great fit for many different types of families. Like many dogs, he may bark occasionally to let you know when he sees unfamiliar people or other dogs, but it's simply his way of alerting you to what's happening around him. As a Bichon, he'll need regular grooming to keep looking his best. In return, you'll have a fluffy companion who turns heads wherever he goes! If you're looking for a loyal, loving, and cheerful friend to share life's adventures with, Charlie is ready to fill your home with joy, laughter, and unconditional love! Charlie is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm tested, and ready to meet you! His adoption donation is $500. Please apply directly in the dropdown menu on our website at https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! August 7, 2026, 5:46 pm

Story
Ricky Male DOB 7/1/21 Approx 10 lbs Neutered Meet Ricky – A Loyal Little Heart Ready to Learn What Love Means 🐾 Ricky is a 4-year-old Maltese–Yorkie mix with a gentle soul and so much love waiting to bloom. He came into rescue from a hoarding situation, and while his early life didn’t give him the stability every dog deserves, Ricky is now discovering what it means to be part of a caring family. In his foster home, Ricky is learning that he is safe and that the people around him will be there for him every day. His wonderful foster family is patiently showing him that visitors are kind, that gentle hands bring comfort, and that love can be a consistent and reliable part of life. Each day he grows a little braver. When Ricky feels secure with his people, his true personality shines through. He becomes an incredibly devoted and affectionate companion who forms deep bonds with those he trusts. Ricky loves being close to his family and takes his role very seriously. Because Ricky is still adjusting to the world, he would do best in a mature home without small children. Quick movements and unexpected activity can still startle him, so a calm, low-traffic household will help him continue to build confidence and feel safe. Ricky is doing well living with the other dogs in his foster home and is learning a lot from them. He enjoys running around the fenced yard and loves keeping an eye on the neighborhood. If another dog passes by, Ricky is happy to bark and let everyone know he’s on watch and doing his part to keep his family safe! He also takes cues well from the larger dogs in the home, which helps him feel more comfortable. Ricky is currently working on potty training. Because he’s still learning and can get very excited, he may occasionally have accidents. With patience, routine, encouragement, and medication we hope he will continue to improve as he settles into a stable home environment. Ricky is looking for a patient, loving family who will give him the time he needs to fully blossom. In return, you’ll gain a loyal little companion whose devotion will be truly special. If you’re ready to help a deserving dog discover the joy of a safe and loving forever home, Ricky might just be the perfect addition to your family. The Adoption Fee (Tax Deductible Donation) is $200. If you are interested please fill out an application at www.nalarescue.org. Please note a Vet Check and Home Inspection are part of the application process. NALA Rescue is a home-based foster rescue and does not have a facility. If interested in meeting a dog, please apply at www.nalarescue.org. All dog meets are scheduled by appointment in advance only, if approved.
