Story
Meet Leonardo: The Artist with a Colorful Past!   Straight from a high kill shelter and right into our hearts, Leo is a 14 pound, roughly 3 year old mutt masterpiece. Once spray painted in bright blues and pinks and abandoned as a matted little mess on the streets of Texas, this resilient boy has washed away his past and is ready to paint a brand new future.   Leo considers himself a true expressionist. His mediums? Love, loyalty, and the occasional perfectly executed sit for treats. Housebroken, leash trained, and wonderfully well mannered, this talented gentleman has fully mastered the fine art of being a very good boy. He doesn’t love being in the crate yet, but he eventually settles in when needed.    Leo gets along great with other dogs and would likely do well with kids, though there aren’t any in his foster home. Despite everything he’s been through, he remains playful, sweet, charming, and affectionate. This cutie is ready to trade in street art chaos for couch cuddle serenity!    Leo is neutered, fully vetted and vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, microchipped, freshly groomed, and ready to meet you! His adoption donation fee is $400. Please apply directly on our website in the dropdown menu at havenanimalrescuenebraska.org PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! February 7, 2026, 9:45 pm
