Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact GW for more information about this pet. Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   This is a long bio, but please read it in its entirety before applying. Thank you! Aretha and Franklin originally came to us in 2022 as kittens. They have always been bonded.  They were adopted by a lovely couple who adored them, but Aretha and Franklin found themselves back with their foster mom recently, through no fault of their own, after a tragic medical event struck one of the humans. While Aretha and Franklin were pretty kittens, they grew up to be such stunning cats that their foster mom decided to do a DNA test on one of them before they go to their new forever home. Foster mom wanted to ensure that for their new home, Aretha and Franklin, as well as their new humans, are set up for success. She was also curious about what breeds made up such big, fluffy, pure white siblings. While waiting for the DNA results, their foster mom was able to get reacquainted with them to provide a significant amount of information to prospective new families.   Franklin’s Basepaws DNA test showed that these two are mostly Maine Coon and Ragdoll mixed with other “Western breeds.” We believe this is important because it reinforces our feeling that these two are quite special, long-haired darlings who need a forever home that will not only ensure that their glorious fur is cared for, but will also understand and accept that this fur will literally become part of the fabric of the home. Investing in lint rollers will be a must for their family. Humidifiers also help control the static electricity that their gorgeous hair creates in dry winter air. They will need regular combing and brushing, and may even benefit from a grooming each spring. Franklin, especially, has very long hair. Both cats love being combed and brushed, even on their bellies and near their private areas. Franklin is good about nail trims. Aretha does not like it. Surprisingly, for such long haired cats, they aren’t hairball pukers. Aside from their beauty, these two also carry many of the characteristics of their breeds. They are sweet, funny, playful, and snuggly. Franklin will play fetch until your arm hurts. He will also carry around a toy mouse and howl, like he needs to announce to you that he caught some prey for you. Aretha prefers motorized toys and want toys. Aretha is more of a “lay right on you” cat, while Franklin is a “lay right next to you” cat. They are good eaters, with a far greater preference for dry food than wet.    They will be afraid of new people and new surroundings while adjusting to their forever home. They will not trust their new adopters for at least a few days, so patience is required, but then when they know you, they become your best friends and follow you around like puppies. They are VERY treat motivated, so they will be become your besties quickly if there are crunchy treats or Churu treats involved. They currently hide from visitors to their foster home, at least when the visitors first arrive, so if you want cats that will always greet guests, these may not be the kitties for you. Aretha and Franklin are big kitties! They came back to us a bit overweight, and with careful management they are now at much more acceptable weights. Franklin is 14 pounds and Aretha is 13 pounds. Franklin enjoys being picked up for a hug, which is an adventure because he’s the size of a pony. They are still very young, at around 2 years old. Despite their size, they are quite nimble. They also LOVE other cats. When they came back to their foster mom, they were so excited to meet the resident cats. They ran right up to them without any hesitation. The resident cats were not thrilled, but learned to accept the giant white puffballs that were following them around. While it may be tempting for many people to say “OOOOH, I want the big white cats,” priority will be given to applicants that can demonstrate knowledge and/or experience with long-haired exotic cats. They are regularly featured on their foster mom’s Instagram account, @gloriawarshaw.    Aretha & Franklin are micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, spayed & neutered and litter box trained. Aretha & Franklin's combined adoption fee is $350. If you are interested in meeting these two beauties, please fill out our Online Application today! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are  based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events.  Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop! February 23, 2024, 10:21 pm

Story
Hey there! I’m cute, right? That’s why you’re here, you thought I was cute. So let me tell you a little bit about myself because, I’m not your average kitty. My name is Scoots but my foster mom has lots of other names for me; Scooty, Scootsy, Scoot-a-toot, tootsie. I’m a smart little guy so I usually answer to all of the above. I was brought to the shelter because I got hurt somehow. My back legs don’t work like they’re supposed to so I can’t use them. That’s how I got the name Scoots, I scoot to get around. But don’t let that fool ya! I can move pretty fast when I get the zoomies! They say I’m “different” but I don’t feel different. I get around just as well as my kitty foster brother except, I don’t get in trouble for jumping on the counter. I do have to wear a diaper though because I can’t get into the littler box very well. I really like my doggie foster brother and sister, they’re German Shepherds but they don’t scare me! My foster kitty brother likes to play rough and I’m ok with that, I’m a tough guy. I love to show off and climb my kitty tower because, you know, I can only use my front legs, so clearly, I’m a strong boy. My favorite toys are these little tinsel balls that I can chase after, swat like a volleyball or catch mid air. I can go down stairs easily and I’m working on going up every once in awhile. I do like to look outside and watch the birds whenever I can. I’m not one to hide very much. I like to be around everyone because I’m a curious kind of guy.  Our house can be quiet but also quite chaotic at times and I’m pretty chill either way. I just like to witness all the action. Even though I do like to play, I don’t love to be picked up and held. I’ll sit with you on the couch though, I’m pretty good company. My foster mom says I’m also very entertaining. You should really contact Starfish to see if we would be a good fit. Hope to meet ya soon! Interested in meeting the Scoots? Complete our online application at https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/cat-adoption-application The adoption fee of $150.00 includes neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new cat for your family. Although we make the best guess on the breed of our cats, because they come from shelters, we can never be completely certain of the genetic makeup of the cat.  All we can tell you for sure is that they are 100% RESCUED! Thank you for wanting to adopt a Starfish Animal Rescue cat! Story
Roosevelt and his brother Capone are two wonderfully affectionate cats. These two boys were left outside of our center on a cold rainy day in a dog crate. There was no information given as to why they were left or anything regarding their history. Both cats are extremely affectionate with humans and each other. They groom one another, sleep together and play. Both cats will need to be adopted to the same home together, we are unwilling to separate them. The adoption fee for Roosevelt and Capone is $350 together.

Story
Bryce is a handsome and sweet, three-year-old, 13-pound, hunk of a brown tabby Maine Coon-mix looking for a loving guardian. Bryce was found living outside with poor vision due to juvenile cataracts. The cataracts probably formed due some virus he contracted as a kitten. Bryce loves to be pet and brushed; he absolutely drools with happiness! He does startle easily since his vision is impaired, and he play bites when over-stimulated so he’s looking for an experienced cat lover without children in the home. He is very healthy, neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, microchipped, and virus-tested negative. He can be easily intimidated by some cats, so he can either live with a calm, easy-going cat, or on his own as the one and only pet in the home. His adoption fee of $150 benefits rescue. To meet and possibly adopt him, please fill out the adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/cat-adoption-application/ and follow up with friendsofpetraits@gmail.com He is being fostered in Chicago.
