Story
Vecna is a 2-year-old Maltese mix weighing in at 14 pounds, and he is serving personality with a side of pop star flair. Currently rocking a haircut that would make early-2010s Justin Bieber nod in approval, this little guy definitely has presence. One thing is clear right away: Vecna is a busy boy. He has energy for days and approaches life like the Energizer Bunny, always ready to go, explore, and see what’s happening next. He’s curious, lively, and loves to stay on the move, making him a great match for someone who enjoys an active little companion. Vecna is also the perfect “take you everywhere” size. Big enough to keep up with your day-to-day adventures, but small enough to scoop up for some well-earned couch time once he finally decides to recharge. Because Vecna can be a bit barky, he will do best in a home without shared walls. A house where he has a little more space to express himself will help set him up for success. While it’s not required, he would likely benefit from having a fenced yard where he can burn off some of that busy-boy energy. Vecna recently spent time in a home with a young child and did well, showing that he can be a fun and engaging little companion. If you’re looking for a lively, personality-packed pup who will keep you on your toes and make you smile every day, Vecna may be your guy. His minimum adoption fee is $400 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Meet Babe, a 14-year-old Maltese weighing about 9 pounds, and every bit the tiny, fluffy angel she appears to be. Babe came to us after her beloved owner had to move into a nursing home, a heartbreaking transition for them both. It’s clear she was deeply loved, and she carries that gentle, devoted spirit with her everywhere she goes. Like many senior pups, Babe is a little hard of hearing, but she still enjoys the quiet comforts of home and being close to her people. She would do best in a calm, cozy environment where she can enjoy her golden years with a soft lap, a comfy bed, and someone who appreciates the special magic that senior dogs bring. Babe does have a 5/6 heart murmur and takes medication that she will need for the rest of her life. She is doing well with her treatment, and we are happy to talk with potential adopters about her care. Senior dogs like Babe don’t ask for much, just love, kindness, and a little place to belong. In return, they give a quiet, steady devotion that only comes with age. If you’re ready to open your heart to a tiny companion with a lifetime of love still to give, Babe may be the perfect addition to your family. Her minimum adoption fee is $200 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Meet little Foxy, a tiny Maltese gentleman, a fluffy explorer who’s just starting to discover the joys of being a dog. Once a little ghost who floated quietly through the house, he’s warming up — starting to try food, wagging his tiny tail, and bravely venturing out in short bursts to see what life is all about. He’s still a sensitive soul, but every day he adds a new chapter to his “learning to love” story. With a patient, kind human by his side, this sweet boy will keep blossoming into the happy, wiggly companion he’s meant to be. All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. Records are sent via email. Paper versions are available upon request. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile above. After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!
