Story
Meet Kip!  Kip is a 1-year-old Maltese mix looking for a family who will love him through his journey of discovering the world. Everything is still new and exciting (and sometimes a little startling) to Kip, so he can be a bit jumpy — but he's got a sweet, gentle heart and he's eager to feel safe and confident. Kip does best in a home with another friendly, playful dog who can show him the ropes and help him build his confidence. He's a total shadow once he settles in — he loves following his people around the house and simply sitting with them, soaking up the company. Older kids and a fenced in yard are preferred The details: Age: 1 year old Breed: Maltese mix Energy level: Moderate Crate trained: Yes Potty training: Doing great — no accidents! Good with cats & dogs: Yes! Kip is convinced everyone is his friend — no chasing, just love. Kip would thrive with a patient family who can give him time to grow into himself, ideally alongside a playful canine sibling who can help him feel brave. If you're looking for a sweet, devoted companion who will stick by your side, Kip might be your guy If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will be in touch The adoption fee of $500 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm, and any other necessary medical treatment to ensure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe the breed, since our pups all come from shelters, we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *Please note that we are a foster home-based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Story
All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile. After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. We're primarily a volunteer organization, so we appreciate your patience. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sundays and Mondays and will not be processing any applications on that day. Do get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). Counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and leash to pick up. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart: Park in the PetSmart Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day photo with your pet and family. PCH supports a 21-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we are not able to provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!

Story
Mia Joy 9 years old 6 pounds Maltese If sweetness were a dog, it would be Mia Joy. This 6-pound Maltese girl is 9 years old and absolutely, ridiculously sweet. She’s the kind of dog who melts into you, looks at you with soft eyes, and makes you wonder how something so tiny can hold so much love. Mia has no teeth (which only adds to her charm), but unlike some of our gummy little friends, her tongue stays politely tucked inside. She is simply adorable — dainty, gentle, and full of quiet affection. She is: • Wonderful with people • Great with other dogs • Especially loves having another small dog to cuddle • Crate trained • Social and affectionate Mia may bark a little when the car first starts moving, but she settles quickly and rides just fine. We’re still learning about her leash skills and potty habits. She is a breeder release, but you would never guess it. Mia is incredibly social and comfortable with people — she leans into love like she’s been waiting for it her whole life. If you have a soft lap, a cozy blanket, and maybe a little dog who wouldn’t mind sharing snuggles, Mia is ready to complete your home. 🤍 Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog Her minimum adoption donation amount is $275 She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state. Your current pets must be up-to-date on core vaccines, spayed/neutered, and on heart worm prevention year round. You must be at least 21-years-old to adopt. Please have your veterinarian and two non-family reference phone numbers ready. The app makes you start all over if you leave the page to look up numbers. Story
Adoption fee:$450 Meet our sweet old lady Gretta. This tiny old girl came in from CACC where she was surrendered to the shelter after ten years. She is a sweet thing who is kennel trained, good with cats, dogs, and just wants a lap that is quiet and safe. Gretta does not need tons of exercise, but she could stand to lose a couple of pounds. Please share this sweet old girl and let's get her in a home as soon as possible. She absolutely does not need to sit and wait.
