Story

Sable is a cute little malti-poo puppy, a cross of a maltese and a poodle.  He was born 9/21/22 in a commercial kennel, but didn't get sold when he was a tiny baby so the breeder surrendered him to rescue. He is a little shy initially but very sweet and playful, and good with other dogs.  He is microchipped, has been neutered, is up to date with vaccinations and has been dosed with Interceptor Plus for intestinal worm and heartworm prevention and Nexgard for flea and tick prevention.  He weighs 8 pounds 3 ounces. The vet noted that he has a grade 2 heart murmur, which is mild and does not appear to affect him but should be periodically monitored as he ages. We show our dogs by appointment only, if you are interested in adopting please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org. Adoption fee for this dog is $300 Bob is a 9 year old Maltese. He came to us from a commercial breeder situation. Breeder releases are often frightened of new things and need some time to fully trust people since they have lived a life in a cage or pen without a lot of interaction or human contact Luckily, we were able to get them released and into a foster home to show them plenty of TLC and allow them to begin to learn to be pampered family members. Bob is very sweet but is still a little shy with new people. He is much more confident and comfortable when he has another dog to buddy up with. We will require Bob be adopted into a home with another dog.  Bob will need a home in which her new owners understand that she has been through a lot and will take time to come out of his shell and learn new routines and become comfortable in a new environment. SNM(single neutered male) in search of LFH(loving fur-ever home) My name is Charlie and I find myself single again and on the prowl for my fur-ever home. Let me start off by telling you a little about myself. I like long walks, cuddling with my people and taking naps on the couch. While I am a cute cuddly lil stud muffin, I need some space and time to get comfortable in my surroundings. I can be a little fear reactive to new situations and people, but just a little patience goes a long way. I can co-habitat with other dogs but would prefer them not to be constantly bouncing in my face. A more mellow calm sibling would be more up my alley!! On the positive side, I do have some awesome qualities. I'm quiet, housetrained, love walks, car rides, cuddling on the couch and don't destroy the house while left alone. At 10 years old I've been around the block a time or two making me a great confidante and secret keeper. And at only 15lbs I'm a great size to tag along on your errand runs. I know my little quirks makes it harder for me to find that special family that's just perfect for me, but I know you're out there. UPDATE - Brian is a year older now, almost 13 years old. His vision is not as good as it used to be, and his hearing may be worse like all of us humans as we age. But he's still just a sweet boy and gets along with other dogs. He deserves his own home. Brian came to us from way up north where he was a breeder dog. He's happy to be retired and living in a home where he's got his own soft bedding and plenty of food and water!
