Story
Shadow is a handsome boy who loves his wife, Joy, and his people! Born on 5/6/18, he is 7 years old, neutered, up to date on all his shots, crate trained, and house broken. He is happy to play with toys, take walks, explore the yard, or cuddle up on the couch and take a nap. Shadow loves to play with other dogs of all sizes, tries to play with the cat (until he gets swatted away), is great with kids and adults. Although he is very affectionate, he does get territorial when new people come through the door, so he should be held or crated when people arrive as to avoid any aggression. As soon as he knows you are comfortable with the new person, he calms right down and happily greets them. Shadow and Joy are closely bonded and have lived together (including a shared crate) for over 7 years. They MUST be rehomed together to avoid depression and separation anxiety for both of them. They will thrive best in a calm, quiet household without a lot of traffic in and out.

Story
Joy is a tiny love bug who loves her husband, Shadow, and her people! Born on 10/9/17, she is 8 years old, spayed, up to date on all her shots, crate trained, and house broken. She is happy to play or take walks, but prefers to cuddle up with someone and take a nap. Joy is fine with large or small dogs or cats but lets them know that she's in charge. She is great with kids and adults. Walks prove tricky if a person approaches because Joy will immediately lay down and roll over for belly rubs. Joy and Shadow are closely bonded and have lived together (including a shared crate) for over 7 years. They MUST be rehomed together to avoid depression and separation anxiety for both of them. They will thrive best in a calm, quiet household without a lot of traffic in and out.

Story
Lovey is a three year old Maltese. She is a petite girl at only 12 pounds. She has made great strides since arriving and her favorite place is cuddles in bed. She can still be a little skittish around the house, but the bed seems to be her safe spot. She is not a fan of the cold outside and will only go out if you are going out with her. We have not attempted leash training yet so a fenced in area is a must for this girl. Lovey would also do well with another calm dog to show her the way. An adult home with a fence and a patient family is her best match and you will find much joy in watching her truly become a member of that family. Her adoption fee is $350 and she has been spayed, vetted and microchipped. Please go to the website and fill out an application if you are interested in meeting her. www.susieqdogresq.com

Story
Please contact Jamesa (roxysrescue@yahoo.com), 713-882-2610 for more information about this pet. This darling little girl is DARCY, a bit over 1 years old and 8 pounds.  She has pretty much reached her adult height and weight with maybe 1 pound to gain.  She is mostly Maltese and will need to be groomed every 2-3 months to keep her straight hair from tangling. DARCY is my shadow but she does not get in my way, she just likes to go wherever I go.  DARCY does go outside to play with a couple of Shih Tzu's and have fun.   DARCY can be a bit of a diva and a bossy little girl to the other dogs.  She just tries to keep them in order.  But she plays well with the others and she loves to cuddle.  She is about 75% potty trained.  I do not have a doggy door and let her out to potty with the other dogs and she does just fine.  She is completely crate and house trained.  I have no problem leaving her alone in my home with my personal dogs while I am gone.  She is not destructive or get into personal items. I do not have any cats so I do not know how she would get along with them.  It took DARCY about 2 days to get to know me and show her real personality so some patience is required but then she becomes your shadow and best friend. If you are interested in adopting DARCY, please submit an application on the website below.  Thank you. www.roxysk9rescue.org     ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIRED   Roxxy's K-9 Rescue does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes.  Each dog comes  spay/neutered (fixed), rabies shots appropriate for their age, and dewormed twice.  The dogs are up to date on vaccinations according to their age at the time of adoption.  They are microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative.  ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE. We transport across the United States. Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. Our organization is run by volunteers/foster parents, please be patient to give us time to respond to your emails and/or phone calls.  We will reply to you.  Thank you.         April 19, 2026, 8:44 am

Story
Millie is a 5 year old female Bichon Frise tipping the scales at 16 lbs. She will be spayed prior to adoption and is currently in a foster home. Volunteers For Animals periodically pulls dogs from other shelters to free up space; this helps avoid euthanizing healthy, adoptable animals. We are able to do this through the generosity of many people such as the originating shelter staff, transporters, foster volunteers and others who help with pulling fees, vet bills and finding good homes once they are here. The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the rescues animals can range from $100 to $450 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If you are interested in any of the Rescue dogs, please Contact Us. Do not call the Shelter regarding rescue animals - they have no information about these dogs. All rescue animals are in foster homes with volunteers - NOT at the Shelter - unless otherwise noted.  Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $100 fee for any county animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.April 20, 2026, 4:15 pm
