Story
We have a transport leaving on July 31st 2026 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Mila to our trip for the right family 😊
Some dogs are easy to love, and then there are the ones who somehow become a part of your heart before you even realize it. Mila is one of those rare little souls. From the moment she came into our care, she made it her mission to be wherever her favorite person happened to be. If you’re folding laundry, she’ll be nearby. If you’re making dinner, she’ll happily sit at your feet. If you’re relaxing on the couch, she’ll gently remind you that your lap was made just for her. Loving her isn’t something you have to teach yourself to do, it simply happens.
At just 11 months old, Mila is a beautiful Yorkshire Terrier and Maltese mix weighing only 5 pounds. She is fully grown, making her the perfect little companion to take along wherever life leads you. Though tiny in size, her heart is anything but small. She forms deep bonds with her people and finds her greatest joy in simply being close. She isn’t the type of dog who is content spending her days entertaining herself across the room. Instead, she wants to be involved in your everyday life, following you from room to room with quiet devotion, always wanting to know what you’re doing and simply happy to be included. If you’re hoping for a more independent companion, Mila may not be the right fit. But if you’ve been praying for a little best friend who will adore you with her whole heart and make every day feel a little brighter simply by being there, she is exactly the girl you’ve been searching for.
Mila has a gentle, loving nature that extends far beyond her family. She absolutely adores people and greets men, women, and children with the same sweet, trusting heart. She also gets along beautifully with other dogs and cats, making her an easy addition to just about any loving home. There isn’t a mean bone in this little girl’s body. She simply wants to love and be loved.
She has wonderful manners and has been a complete joy to care for. Mila is crate trained, although if given the choice, she would much rather sleep where she can see the people she loves. Simply having her crate nearby where she can keep you in sight helps her feel secure because, more than anything, she just wants to feel close. She is both potty pad trained and does an excellent job going outside every two to three hours when taken out consistently. Because of her tiny size, she is always supervised outdoors for her safety, and her new family should plan to continue doing the same.
One of the things we love most about Mila is how effortlessly she fits into everyday life. She has beautiful house manners, rides wonderfully in the car and makes an incredible road trip companion, is excellent at the groomer, and is continuing to make wonderful progress with her leash training. She loves exploring the world as long as her favorite person is right beside her. She also has outstanding recall and happily comes every time she’s called, always eager to reconnect with the person she loves most.
Mila is not a barker, which is something many people appreciate in such a tiny dog. She is quiet and content, although she’ll politely let you know when she’d like your attention or if she needs something. She has the sweetest way of communicating without ever being demanding, and it’s impossible not to smile when she looks up at you with those bright eyes full of love.
Before going home, Mila will be spayed on July 28, 2026. She will also receive a dental cleaning to remove the very mild tartar on her teeth because we want her to begin this next chapter of her life in the very best health possible. She will also be microchipped, current on all vaccinations, thoroughly examined, and medically cleared by our veterinarian prior to adoption.
There are dogs who become companions, and then there are dogs who become part of your soul. Mila is the kind of little girl who will greet you as though you’ve been gone for years, who will happily curl up beside you after a long day, and who will quietly remind you every single day that unconditional love really does exist. She is one of those once-in-a-lifetime little treasures whose greatest happiness comes from simply sharing life with the person she loves.
Mila’s adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/_mila-1
It helps cover her spay, dental cleaning, microchip, current vaccinations, veterinary examination and clearance, as well as the months of care, training, grooming, socialization, and love she has received while in our care 🩷
