Story
This dapper gentleman ready and waiting to come home to you is Lyman! He is a gentle little shadow with a soft heart, a sweet cuddle habit, and a surprisingly impressive ability to give hugs from the comfort of your shoulder, Lyman is looking for a family that understands that trust is something special. Estimated to be around 3 years old, weighing a perfectly portable 16 pounds, and looking very much like a Maltese mix, Lyman is a rescue, so breed and age are simply our best guess. Go watch Lyman | Tiny Hug Expert Looking for His Person on YouTube, then come right back to read more about this sweet little guy. https://youtu.be/zhDEwXTAr4E Lyman is currently being fostered in a loving home with a variety of other dogs and has previously lived successfully with cats. While he can happily coexist with canine friends, he isn't the type who needs a pack to feel complete. He tends to be easygoing around other dogs after a proper introduction and a little time, but he is perfectly content focusing most of his attention on his people. When we first met Lyman he was a little nervous- new places, unfamiliar people, and lots of activity can feel overwhelming for a sensitive little dog. What stood out most wasn't that he was worried. It was how quickly he recovered once he realized he was safe. Given patience, calm handling, and a little understanding, Lyman showed just how affectionate he can be. One of his favorite things is being held close, where he'll happily rest his chin on your shoulder and soak up the comfort. If he feels pressured too quickly, he will gently let you know he'd like more space, but when people slow down and meet him where he is, his trust grows surprisingly fast. Underneath that initial caution is a sweet, loving little companion who genuinely wants connection. Lyman would likely be happiest in a calmer home where life feels predictable and comfortable. Older children or dog-savvy family members who understand that friendships sometimes take a little time would be ideal. A calm, confident resident dog could be a wonderful role model, but he could also do just fine as your one-and-only little sidekick. He has excellent manners around food- taking treats gently and sharing with other dogs, and was polite for all interactions with other dogs, and was a perfect gentleman with our house cat. He has lived in both busy and multi-pet environments and has shown that once settled in, he adapts well. Lyman isn't looking for someone to rush him. He's looking for someone to understand him. In return, you'll get a loyal little companion, a professional shoulder-resting hug expert, and a dog who will remind you that some of the very best friendships are the ones that are grown over time. Lyman Little Hug Bug is ready and waiting for you! Ready to welcome him home? Apply today! ❤️ https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/6a1df87cf0c95fc31101579b Questions? Story
Waffle is a small dog- about 17lbs- with a big personality and an even bigger need for the right forever home. While he may be adorable, Waffle is not the type of dog who will thrive in just any environment. He is looking for a patient, experienced, dog-savvy adopter committed to helping him continue building confidence and trust. https://youtu.be/aaybwp6jqjI Waffle is estimated to be about 2 years old. Our best guess is that he may be a Maltipoo mix, though as always with rescue, breed and birthday are simply our best guess. Waffle was left behind with two other dogs after his owner was deported, and that experience understandably left him insecure and unsure of the world around him. Because of this, Waffle takes time to warm up to new people and environments. He is not the kind of dog who will immediately shower strangers with affection, but with patience, structure, and consistency, he is capable of forming very strong bonds with his people. Waffle absolutely needs another younger dog in his forever home — ideally a confident dog around his age and similar size who can handle his rough-and-tumble play style, occasional reactivity, and active personality. He relies heavily on other dogs for confidence and comfort, and another dog is essential to helping him feel secure and continue making progress. His ideal home will have: • A securely fenced physical yard (no apartments, condos, or invisible fences) • Another young, confident dog in the home • Experienced adopters familiar with nervous or reactive dogs • A structured environment with boundaries and routine • Patience and realistic expectations during decompression Waffle is vocal, especially when uncertain, so shared-wall living is not appropriate for him. He is also still working on leash skills and can bark at unfamiliar people and dogs on walks. Keeping his world small at first and allowing him to slowly build trust will be very important for his success. Despite his challenges, Waffle has so much potential in the right home. He enjoys playtime, exploring the yard, and being with his dog friends. He is also cat friendly! Watching him slowly learn to trust and feel safe is incredibly rewarding, and the right family will see a side of Waffle that most people never get the chance to experience. Because of his needs, Waffle is not a fit for first-time dog owners or households looking for an easygoing social butterfly. He needs a committed family willing to meet him where he is and help him continue growing into the dog he is meant to be. For serious adopters, we would also be happy to connect you not only with his foster, but with our behavior team to help ensure a successful transition into his forever home. Apply today to adopt Waffle! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/6986372eb92150fb190513d9 Questions? Story
Button is the definition of tiny but mighty. At just around 1 lb, this little Maltese/Pekingese mix is impossibly small, ridiculously cute, and full of happy puppy energy. He’s playful, affectionate, friendly, and always excited to be part of whatever is happening around him. Button was rescued from an unsafe situation where his mom and 5 siblings were tragically run over by cars after being allowed to roam loose near the road. Sadly, only 3 puppies survived from the litter. Despite that heartbreaking start, Button is a joyful little puppy who absolutely loves people and life. He has a very slight underbite that somehow only makes him even cuter. Because of his tiny size and young age, Button will not be neutered prior to adoption. Adopters will be required to provide proof of neuter in 2027 once he is fully grown and medically ready. Good fit: someone looking for a tiny companion puppy who wants affection, attention, playtime, and a safe indoor life. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Age-appropriate vetting, vaccinated, microchipped Adoption fee: $550 (includes transport + vetting) Bonus: Each adoption includes a 30-minute phone consultation with a professional trainer Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Think you might be a good fit? Story
Meet Chino! Chino is a 4-year-old Maltese looking for a calm, patient home where he can be someone’s one and only. This little guy is learning what it means to be loved and cherished — and while he may be shy at first, once you earn his trust, he’ll give you his whole heart. Watch his video here and come back to read more about him! https://youtu.be/7dnuzhZ3kR4 Chino is still getting used to affection, so he needs someone who understands that trust takes time. He would thrive with a single person or older adult who has prior dog experience and can offer consistency, quiet, and love. Once he feels safe, he’ll be your faithful lap dog — content just being near you. He walks well on a leash, is treat-motivated (especially when cheese is involved!), and is working hard to be on his best behavior to earn your affection. Chino lives in a home with small dogs like him and BIG dogs too. He is a not playful with any of his foster dog brothers. He prefers to lay in bed with his person and lap up all the affection and love. When his foster dad comes home he runs up to his leg and paws for attention. If you have a soft heart, a patient spirit, and an open lap, Chino may just be the loyal companion you’ve been waiting for. Application: https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/68825c2530ff4695f902e4e7 Questions? Email Stephanie@threelittlepittiesrescue.org We facilitate adoptions across the US through our own internal transport to ensure the quality of care. We travel to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT and Canada (Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA  or Brattleboro, VT for the eastern Canadian border)! Our pups travel in comfort with 24/7 care on our USDA licensed vehicles, including buses and cargo vans. You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey!   You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!    The adoption fee is $1,200 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!    We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.    Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!    Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.   Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.    The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:   Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!   Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation?
