Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 07/15/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Mike was found as a stray and landed at a NC shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter. Foster location: Foster Home in Raleigh, NC Special Needs? Mike is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Mike arrived in rescue with a right eye thta had collapsed and needed to be removed. He has a permanent wink! He has a cataract in his left eye. Given his age estimate, we have elected not to attempt restorative vision surgery on the left eye. He will be adopted on a medical addendum that acknowledges this. Our best estimate is that Mike is a maltese mix, but only a DNA test will tell. We won't guarantee that he is hypoallergenic or that he won't shed. Weight: 8 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $199 -  This adoption fee will be increasing effective 11/01/2025. Fence needed? No, though he'd love one What kind of home would be best for me? Mike is a dog that wants his people. He is in a foster home with large and small dogs, as well as cats. While he is fine with them, he does like to boss them around and would be happier as your only dog. He's indifferent to cats. Mike enjoys being outside and would welcome daily walks. He understands if you work outside of the home, as long as you can provide a mid-day potty break. Mike is equal parts independent and snuggly. He is definitely not a velcro dog, but has a big heart that he's eager to share. What is my personality like? Meet Mike, a smaller senior with one eye and the energy of a teenager! He’s a little bossy with his canine siblings—quick to bark and remind them he’s the big man on campus—but with people, he’s all play, bounces, and the cutest yoga poses. Mike loves sniffing around his fenced yard, would be a great walking buddy, and rides well in the car. While toys don’t interest him much, he makes up for it with his love of big, comfy beds where he happily snoozes at night. Mike is continuing to work on house training in his foster home. We strongly recommend belly bands for this sometimes-naughty boy! Mike is ready to bring joy, laughter, and a little bit of sass to his forever home. How do I act when I first meet new people? Mike is a friendly guy. He's going to give you an introductory sniff and then will jump up on your leg for pets. If you're really lucky, he'll show you his best downward dog yoga pose and ask you to play! Other tips and tidbits: The shelter estimated Mike at 13 years old and celebrates his birthday 07/5/2012. He acts MUCH younger than his.  House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. January 15, 2026, 9:18 pm

Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Diego is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 2/11/26 Diego had a dental polishing. We have no history on Diego pre-rescue. He is a fluffy, mixed breed dog. Only a DNA test will confirm his true heritage. We cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic or that he won't shed. Weight: 16.5 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Playful and enthusiastic, Diego loves to stay active and would thrive in a home that can match his upbeat pace. Diego enjoys being part of the action and would make a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys spending time outdoors. After a good play session, he’s content to relax nearby, but his favorite moments are the ones that let him stretch his legs and burn off energy. What is my personality like? Diego’s journey to rescue was an unusual on. He was left in a drop box in New Mexico and made his way across the country with a truck driver and 13 other dogs. What a story! Along the way, he discovered that he loves car rides and enjoys watching the world pass by through the window, making him a great companion for outings and adventures.  Diego is an estimated two-year-old terrier mix with a fun-loving spirit and energy to spare. He is full of personality. Diego is happiest when he has space to run, explore, and enjoy the outdoors. Whether he’s zooming around the yard or soaking up the sunshine, Diego truly comes alive outside. He will benefit from continued work on basic training, including leash manners and reliable recall, as his excitement can sometimes get the better of him. With structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement, Diego has all the makings of a well-mannered and responsive companion. As he settles into a new home, Diego will need time to learn routines and expectations. With patience and guidance, he’ll quickly adapt and become a loyal, lively addition to an active family ready to embrace his playful, outdoorsy nature. How do I act when I first meet new people? Diego greets with enthusiasm and an almost smile! Other tips and tidbits: We have no history on Dexter pre-rescue. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 2 years old. We celebrate his birthday 1/28/2024. House trained?
