Story
Bow is an 11-year-old Maltipoo, about 9 lbs, and is a deeply loved member of our family. She enjoys cozy spaces, relaxing on the couch, and being near her people in a calm, predictable environment. We are rehoming Bow because we now have two young children, and her needs are no longer compatible with a household with little ones. Bow has a history of biting related to resource guarding, especially around food and when resting. Despite working with professional trainers, this behavior has persisted. As such, she must go to an adult-only home with an experienced owner who understands boundaries and resource guarding. In the right calm, structured home, Bow is a loyal companion who enjoys to snuggle and lounge as well as explore the outdoors. Our priority is finding her a safe, loving place to enjoy her senior years.

Meet Fritter! Another little youngster abandoned and terrified at our local animal control, he quickly warmed up and showed he’s still just a puppy and a jittery Velcro one at that. He was recently shaved, though had a few dirty dreadlocks still hanging off of him. So we are going to guess he was pretty neglected for a while and paces and panics when crated at first like he spent a lot of time in one and climbs baby gates in his quest to socialize. He’s very sweet and needy, about a year old Maltese mix, under 10lbs. He gets along with dogs but mostly just wants to be around his person and dances and begs to be held. Housebreaking is a work in progress and may take some patience. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Fritter in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
