Story
Meet NIKKI: At 13 years old and just 10 pounds, Nikki the Maltipoo is the definition of a little lap dog. She spent her whole life very loved, but sadly her mom became very sick and can no longer care for her. Now Nikki is hoping someone will open their heart and give her a soft, loving place to land for her golden years. Nikki is being fostered in Toronto. Nikki is the sweetest girl and a true companion. She’s friendly, though it can take her a little time to fully trust new people. Once she feels safe, she bonds very deeply and will happily curl up beside you — or better yet, on your lap — whenever she gets the chance. Because Nikki loves her people so much, she does have separation anxiety and will cry when you leave. She truly just wants to be near her people and doesn’t enjoy being alone for long. Nikki does get stressed when in new environments or places like the vet so our vets have recommended use of a mild anti-anxiety meds for those kind of occasions. For a senior, Nikki is in good health with no red flags. She will be having a dental soon and we anticipate she may need several teeth removed, which is very common for little dogs her age. Like many white fluffy pups, she will also need regular grooming and a bit of care to keep her face free of tear stains. Nikki walks nicely on leash and enjoys short strolls, but she’s also perfectly happy being a homebody. Nikki is housetrained and also pee pad trained. She previously lived in a condo and did well there, though she will bark if she hears noises. Nikki is good with other dogs but isn’t interested in playing with them — she’d much rather spend her time with her people. She would likely also be fine with a dog-savvy cat. What Nikki wants most is simple: a warm lap, and people who will spend lots of time with her and who will love her as much as she will love them. After 13 years of being someone’s cherished companion, she deserves a gentle, loving place to call home again. ••••••••• As my foster family gets to know me my profile can change and will be updated accordingly. Check back often for details! An application for me can be found at www.justpaws.ca. Just Paws is located in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada. We do not adopt out of province or country. Please note that although many of our dogs get along with children, we are not able to adopt to any household with kids under the age of 8 years old. This is a stipulation of our insurance and is not a reflection on suitability of the potential adopter.

Story
Meet Swag 🤍 Swag (aka Swaggy) is a 1-year-old, 10-pound poodle mix looking for his forever home. Swag is a very loving velcro dog that bonds fiercely to his person. He is great with other dogs (with a slow introduction) He can be a bit anxious when left alone, so he’ll do best with someone patient who is home most of the time and can help him continue building his confidence. He is still in his puppy era and doing so incredibly well with potty training. He is good on walks and enjoys sniffing and exploring the outdoors. He’ll occasionally bark at a passerby human or dog, but can also slowly greet them given the chance. He is VERY food motivated, and will do great with training with treats and positive reinforcement. Swaggy is also the biggest cuddle bug. He loves cuddling in his foster mom’s lap and being as close as possible. He just melts right into you and stays that way. He is also great with handling - wiping his paws, putting on his harness, having a bath - he will patiently get through it all. He has definitely found his voice in his foster home, so like many doggos, he will bark if he hears someone in the doorway or if he hears a noise that startles him, but he will not bark for long. Overall, Swag is a sweet, loyal little dog who just wants stability, reassurance, and someone to call his own. If you’re looking for a small companion who will truly attach to you and be by your side, Swag could be your guy. Swag is being fostered downtown Toronto. ••••••••• As my foster family gets to know me my profile can change and will be updated accordingly. Check back often for details!
