Story
🏠 Currently in a Toronto foster home Hi, my name is Remy🤍 I’m a male Maltipoo, weighing about 7kg (15 lbs), and I’m just 1 year and 6 months old — still very young. I was rescued from an animal hoarding situation. More than 80 dogs were crowded into a tiny space where it was hard to breathe. There was no one to protect me, so I had to protect myself. Every day was filled with anxiety. Every moment felt like competition. In that environment, I had to become strong simply to survive. Thankfully, I was rescued and brought to a shelter. After my health check, everyone was surprised — my body is miraculously healthy. But some of those difficult days still live quietly in my heart. Despite my past, I have a beautiful personality. I love people, I’m very affectionate, and I deeply crave human touch. In new or unfamiliar environments, I may be a little cautious at first. I’ve never lived alone before, so I may show signs of separation anxiety, and situations where I feel confined can cause intense fear. Because I spent so long having to defend myself, I may show defensive behavior toward smaller dogs, especially if I feel pushed aside. However, I do not show this behavior with dogs larger than me. For this reason, I would do best in a home: ✔️ with a larger dog than me, or ✔️ as the only dog, where I can receive focused love and reassurance. Everything about home life is new to me — living indoors, going on walks, and sharing daily life with people. I’m learning all of this for the very first time. I’m only a year and a half old. Still so young. I’m looking for a family who will teach me with love, wait patiently when I make mistakes, and gently say, “It’s okay.” I’m no longer a dog who needs to survive alone. Now, I deserve a life where I’m loved — not just enduring. Please take my paw and help me begin a life of love. I’m waiting for my forever family 🤍

Story
Echo Age: 2 years Sex: Neutered male Breed: Maltese/Terrier mix Color: White Weight: 9.1 kg (20 lbs) Height: 38 cm (15 in)   Echo is deaf (he cannot hear). He relies on visual cues and human guidance, and stays very attentive to his person.   Rescue Story: Echo was rescued from an animal hoarding situation where over 230 dogs were being kept.   Human Socialization   Echo is a very affectionate and friendly boy. He approaches both familiar people and strangers, rubs against them, and enjoys being petted. He likes both men and women and does well with children under 13 (he simply shows little interest). He is comfortable being picked up, and once he bonds with you, he loves showing his belly for rubs   Dog Socialization   Echo is friendly with both familiar and unfamiliar dogs and happily goes up to greet them. He doesn’t quite know how to “play properly” yet and mostly just runs around excitedly. He is not afraid of larger dogs, though he usually prefers dogs of similar size. If another dog provokes him, he tends to avoid conflict and gets along well without issues. After playtime, he usually likes to rest in his own quiet space.   Cats   His reaction to cats has not been observed yet, but a cat test can be arranged.   Energy Level   Low energy. Echo is a calm dog who enjoys relaxing and resting most of the time   Walks   Echo only recently started going on walks, so he is still learning to explore and sniff around. However, he walks nicely without pulling and follows his human well. Since he is deaf, he relies heavily on visual cues and tends to stay close and attentive to his handler.   Other Behaviors   Echo does not resource guard food with either people or dogs and is not particularly food-motivated.   Because he was born and raised among many dogs, he has some baseline separation anxiety. When first placed in a new environment—especially since he is deaf—he may feel anxious if he cannot see his person. In the past, he showed behaviors like scratching walls, the floor, or tearing pee pads.   However, once he adjusts, he becomes very relaxed, sleeps well, and can stay alone comfortably. He rarely barks and is currently doing both indoor pee pad training and outdoor potty.   Foster History   • First foster home: About 2 weeks. No howling when left alone, but scratched at closed doors. • Second foster home: About 1.5 months. Did well staying alone. • Current: Staying at the AKR Center.   Echo is a gentle, quiet, and loving soul. He may need a little patience during the initial adjustment period, but once he feels safe, he becomes an incredibly easy and calm companion who just wants to stay close to his person. Story
Cotton Age: 3 years Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Maltese Terrier mix Color: White / Beige Weight: 8 kg (17.6 lbs) Height: 36 cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story Cotton was rescued from an extreme animal hoarding situation where over 230 dogs were being kept in poor conditions. Despite her past, Cotton is a gentle and affectionate little girl who still loves people and seeks comfort from humans. Special Note: Congenital Deafness (born deaf)     ‍ Human Social Skills Cotton is very friendly and affectionate. She approaches both familiar people and strangers, enjoys rubbing against them, and allows easy handling. She can be comfortably picked up and will even show her belly once she bonds with you.   She is good with children under 13, but because she is deaf, she may get startled by sudden movements or unexpected touches.   Dog Social Skills Cotton will greet unfamiliar dogs but doesn’t really play with them. She generally prefers dogs similar to her size and feels overwhelmed by high-energy dogs.   Although she’s not very interested in other dogs, she has lived with many dogs before and may feel anxious if she is the only dog in the home.   Cats Cotton has passed her cat test and is currently being fostered in a home with cats. She usually ignores them, but sometimes at night, if she suddenly sees a cat’s shadow, she may get scared and bark.   Energy Level Low energy. Cotton loves to rest and sleep most of the day. Because she is deaf, once she falls asleep, she tends to sleep very deeply and for long periods.   Walks Cotton doesn’t have much walking experience yet, so she’s still learning. She generally follows her handler well, but if she feels scared, she may pull on the leash to move away from what’s frightening.   Other Behaviors & Notes • No resource guarding with people or dogs. • Very quiet at the center, but after moving to foster, she showed separation anxiety and howled for about 3 days. • After training, she can now stay alone (with another dog present) for over 3 hours calmly. • She sleeps in the same space as people but not right next to them. • Still struggling with crate training — she becomes anxious and barks when she can’t see people. • No car sickness, but she is scared of getting into the car and needs to be carried in. • Currently uses both pee pads indoors and outdoor potty.   Ideal Home Cotton would do best in a calm, patient home that understands deaf dogs and can communicate using visual cues and consistency. A home with another gentle dog may help her feel more secure.   She is a sweet, quiet soul who just needs time, stability, and love to truly blossom Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org Please also visit our Facebook and Instagram! QUICK FACTS Name: Lua Age: 9 years old (Estimated) Gender: Female (Spayed) Breed: Poodle Color: Black Weight:6 kg / 13 lbs Microchipped Full Vaccinated   MY RESCUE STORY     MY HEALTH  March 2025: Patellar luxation check  May 2025: Spay surgery 10 teeth extracted Dental scaling Mammary tumor removal KIT test positive November 2025: KIT test negative (Stage 2, larvae observed, no heart shape deformity, no related symptoms)   MY PERSONALITY Hi! I’m Lua, a calm and gentle girl who loves being around people. I really enjoy watching TV and snuggling with my humans. I’m a little shy at first, but I warm up quickly with treats and enjoy being petted once we’re friends.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS · With People: I’m a little shy at first, but I love treats and will quickly warm up to you. Once we’re friends, I enjoy being petted and cuddled. I haven’t met many children under 13 yet, and I’m happy to be picked up by sliding your arms under my belly. I’m looking for a loving family who will give me patience, treats, and gentle cuddles! · With Dogs: I will approach and greet unfamiliar dogs, but I don’t usually play with them right away—I need some time to feel comfortable. I tend to feel a bit overwhelmed around dogs with high energy, and I’m generally not very interested in other dogs. · With Cats: I haven’t had any observed reactions to cats yet. At the hospital, I didn’t respond to the cats in the neighboring kennels.   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a low energy level and love to relax calmly. I’m not very used to walks, and if something scares me during a walk, I tend to lie flat on the ground. TRAINING & HABITS I don’t guard my food from people, but I may growl if another dog approaches while I’m eating. I almost never bark. I’m calm when in a kennel. I haven’t learned to go to the bathroom indoors and don’t seem to have experience with potty pads. MY IDEAL HOME A calm and patient family who understands she’s a little shy at first Experienced with or open to older, low-energy dogs Children over 13 or adults, as she hasn’t had much experience with young kids A quiet environment without high-energy or very playful dogs A home where she can relax indoors, with gentle walks introduced gradually Someone willing to help her learn potty pads or indoor bathroom habits Plenty of treats, cuddles, and soft spots to lounge   SPECIAL NOTES Meet Lua! She’s a friendly and active Poodle who doesn’t let her age show. Despite being a Stage 2 rescue dog, she’s full of energy and loves spending time with people. Lua is ready to find a loving home where she can share her playful spirit and sweet personality with her new family.   Lua's YouTube Playlist   Apply to foster or adopt: https://www.welcomedogkorea.org For Inquiries: info@welcomedogkorea.com ##2615964##
