Story
Shadow is a 4-year-old Mastiff x Lab mix who weighed 112.1 pounds on intake! He is quite chunky and needs to loose a few pounds!03/01/26 Shadow is back! In his most recent home he was described as being gentle when playing, housebroken, outgoing, rides well in the car, and kennel trained! But he is a chewer, likes to get in the trash, and can be a little stubborn. He also needs to be fed seperatly from ALL other animals as he can be sensitive around his food. He will need to have planned meals, as he tends to over eat when freely fed. He was assessed by the shelter vet who stated his ideal weight should be nearing 85 pounds. We encourage his next owner to work with their vet on helping him shed those pounds! Smaller frequent meals help. Like any animal it is important to make introductions with any new friend in a slow and controlled manner. He was reported to have done well with both the cats and dogs he met in his most recent home! If you are interested in meeting Shadow please give the shelter a call!12/08/25 This happy boy is Shadow! Shadow is back at the shelter due to no fault of his own. He was described as a very affectionate boy who loves people of all ages â&#194&#128&#194&#147 big and small! However, he can be very excitable and does like to jump on people. Shadow was said to be kennel-trained, housebroken, and rides well in cars. When his owner is not home, Shadow was said to be kept in the kennel as he was known to chew and get into the trash if given the opportunity. When it comes to other animals, Shadow was said to be curious towards cats and can be selective with other dogs. He was said to generally be gentle but can become irritable if the other dog does not give him space. Appropriate introductions are important in helping set him up for success! We have found at the shelter that Shadow is very treat-motivated, which can be great with training. He is a sweet boy looking for his next person to love! If you are interested in meeting Shadow, please let us know!02/19/24 Shadow was returned to the shelter because his adoptive owner could no longer care for him. We unfortunately did not receive any additional behavior on how Shadow behaved in their care. Shadow was excited to see the care staff and still seems to have his happy go lucky energy! Shadow is a large dog and does like to jump on people. He would benefit from attending a basic obedience class to continue working on his manners in his next home! If you are interested in meeting Shadow, please let us know! 01/31/24 This big loving goofball is Shadow! Shadow was surrendered to the shelter because the older dog in the home was starting to beat up on him. Shadow did not engage and was said to love other dogs. He was even said to do well with the cats in the home. Please ensure you are doing appropriate introductions with all new animals. Shadow is a large dog and other animals might not always appreciate his enthusiasm. Shadow was said to be kennel trained, housebroken, rides well in a car, and knows a variety of commands. He does have a history of jumping on counters so please make sure to not leave anything tempting in reach. Shadow was described as a very loving dog who wants to be a lap dog! He was said to do wonderful with people of all ages including babies and children. He was said to very patient with the 1 year old in his prior home. If you are interested in meeting this sweet boy, please let us know! March 7, 2026, 4:08 pm
