Story
Husk Fizzy Duke — better known as Husk! Husk is a young, wiggly bundle of happiness who is absolutely overflowing with love. This sweet boy thrives on affection and attention, and honestly? Being loved on is when you’ll see the calmest, happiest version of him. He just wants to be included and close to his people. Husk is an energetic dog who will flourish with positive outlets for all that enthusiasm. Playtime, adventures outdoors, long walks, and fun activities are right up his alley! He especially loves toys—and he’s not picky one bit. Stuffies, chew toys, enrichment puzzles… if it’s his, he’s thrilled about it! He was surrendered for needing additional training and for being destructive when left alone, but Husk has already shown us just how capable he is. In the shelter, he keeps himself busy with toys and enrichment during kennel time and has proven to be eager to learn and genuinely happy just to participate in whatever you’re doing. Husk is potty trained and already knows cues like “sit” and “down.” We’ve also been working on “wait” to help him stay focused during exciting moments, and he’s been catching on wonderfully! He would likely benefit from crate training in his future home, both to help maintain good habits and to give him a cozy, secure space of his own while his family is away. We don’t know if Husk has lived with other animals before, but he has not shown any reactivity toward other dogs. In fact, he’s usually all wiggles and friendliness when he sees them! He may do especially well with a playful companion who can match his happy energy. We are more than happy to accommodate a dog meet and greet if needed! At the end of the day, Husk is simply a good boy who needs consistency, structure, and a family willing to guide him through life with patience and love. With the right home, we have no doubt he’ll grow into an incredibly loyal and joyful companion.

Story
Say hello to Joey! We think Joey is most likely a Boxer/Mastiff mix; however he's pretty small for these breeds, weighing in at around 50 pounds of pure muscle. Joey is 2 years old, super calm, chill and docile. However, he gets along well with other dogs and loves to play and be social when given the opportunity. We recently pulled him from the ACC. We're not exactly sure how he ended up there, but either way it's a shock as he is an incredibly sweet, relaxed and handsome dog. At the ACC Joey received a glowing behavior assessment- he was easily pushed away from his food bowl mid-eating, he showed zero aggression, and he had soft body language. This gentle boy will be a joy to have around. Won't you give him the forever home he so desperately needs? All IOHR animals have had age-appropriate medical care.
