Story
Chloe: 8 Years Old • Great Dane / Mastiff Mix • Approx. 101 lbs • Female • Available in Shelter Compatibility & Care Dogs: Previously lived with another dog • Compatibility with other dogs is still being evaluated Cats: Unknown Small Animals: Unknown Children: Unknown Energy Level: Low-Medium Best Home: A home that can accommodate a giant breed senior and provide a comfortable pace with opportunities for outdoor activity Medical Needs: Age-related stiffness Special Diet: None known 💙 About Chloe "101 pounds of sweetness with a playful side." Meet Chloe, a big, sweet senior girl who may be 8 years old, but she certainly isn't ready to give up all the fun! At 101 pounds, Chloe is an extra-large girl with an equally big personality. She enjoys spending time outside and still has a playful side, especially when there's a big herding ball involved. Watching Chloe chase her ball around the yard is a great reminder that senior dogs can still have plenty of fun. Chloe also enjoys attention from her people and has already shown us that a good booty scratch is one of her favorite forms of affection. She has a lower to moderate energy level and can be a little stiff, especially when getting up from lying down or moving around. Once she's outside, though, Chloe can surprise you with bursts of playfulness and even some running around the yard. Chloe came to the shelter through no fault of her own after previously living with another dog. We are still getting to know her and learning more about what type of home will be the best fit for her. Her history with cats, small animals, and children is currently unknown. If you're looking for a big-hearted senior who enjoys both relaxing with her people and having a little fun outside, Chloe would love to meet you! Chloe's Best Qualities ✔️ Sweet and affectionate ✔️ Loves attention from people ✔️ Enjoys booty scratches ✔️ Still playful despite her age ✔️ Loves chasing a herding ball ✔️ Enjoys time outside ✔️ Lower to moderate energy level ✔️ Big girl with an even bigger personality 📍 Come meet Chloe at Caroline County Humane Society 407 W. Story
Meet Rowdy 7 Years Old • American Pit Bull Terrier/Mastiff Mix • Approx. 78 lbs • Neutered Male • Available in Shelter Compatibility & Care Dogs: A meet-and-greet at the shelter is required if you have resident dog(s). Cats: Unknown Small Animals: Unknown Children: Unknown Energy Level: Low Best Home: A laid-back home looking for a calm, easygoing companion Medical Needs: Takes gabapentin to help keep his hind leg comfortable Special Diet: None known Training: Knows sit and paw About Rowdy “Older + Wiser.” Despite what his name might suggest, Rowdy is about as far from rowdy as you can get. At 7 years old, he's apparently decided that life is better when you don't feel the need to run everywhere, chase everything, or participate in every activity. Rowdy came to us as a stray, so we don't know what his life looked like before arriving here. But he's already given us a pretty good idea of the kind of guy he is. He's smart, polite, and wonderfully easygoing. He knows sit and paw, takes treats gently, and has done well out and about around people. He's also got a very particular idea of entertainment. Running around just for the sake of running? Not really his thing. Fetch? He'll pass. Toys? He doesn't seem particularly concerned. Rowdy isn't waiting around for someone to keep him busy. He seems perfectly content taking in his surroundings and deciding for himself whether something is worth his time. And honestly, he may be onto something. Why chase a ball when you can look this distinguished in a bandanna? Rowdy would make a great companion for someone who appreciates a dog with a little personality but doesn't need a constant source of excitement. He could happily keep you company while you work on a project, supervise whatever you're cooking from a respectful distance, or simply be nearby while you go about your day. He's not demanding your attention every second, but he's happy to be included. There's something pretty nice about having a 78-pound dog around who seems perfectly comfortable letting you do your thing while he does his. If you're looking for a companion with good manners, a mellow outlook, and a personality all his own, Rowdy might be your guy. Rowdy isn't rowdy. He's ready for a life where he can be the distinguished gentleman in the room, take things at his own pace, and enjoy all the little perks that come with being a very good dog. If that sounds like your kind of companion, come meet Rowdy! Rowdy's Best Qualities ✔️ Calm and laid-back ✔️ Low energy ✔️ Smart and attentive ✔️ Takes treats gently ✔️ Knows sit and paw ✔️ Easygoing around people ✔️ Comfortable taking things at his own pace ✔️ Happy to be included without demanding the spotlight ✔️ Has absolutely no interest in living up to his name ✔️ Very distinguished bandanna wearer 📍 Come meet Rowdy at Caroline County Humane Society 407 W.
