Story
TABITHA AND MARGO Meet our beautiful purebred Mastiff siblings, a bonded sister pair seeking a special forever home together. At 2½ years old, they are loyal, intelligent, affectionate, and true to the Mastiff breed in both devotion and protectiveness. They can be cautious with strangers at first, but once comfortable, they are loving and deeply loyal companions. Because of their size and guardian instincts, they need an experienced home with strong leadership, structure, and continued socialization. They would do best in a quiet home with few visitors, a very large securely fenced yard is a MUST, and no children under 16. They may do well with another large, gentle dog given proper introductions, but would probably do best with no other pets. To help ensure a successful transition, adopters will be required to attend one complimentary session with our trainer. These are truly lovely dogs looking for a calm, stable home committed to keeping this bonded pair together. Dogs have been professionally obedience trained, are potty trained, and very well mannered in the home.   The suggested adoption donation for both Tabitha and Margo is $750, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Adoptions for Tabitha and Margo are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that they can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers.       Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2749161##

Story
Moxie is a sweet Mastiff mix with a gentle heart who is looking for a family willing to give her a little time and patience as she settles into a new home. New people and unfamiliar situations can make her a bit nervous at first, but once she feels comfortable, her loving personality begins to shine. This lovely girl is the kind of dog who forms strong bonds with her people and will reward your patience with loyalty, affection, and companionship. Moxie has also done well with other laid-back dogs and may enjoy having a calm canine friend to help her feel at ease. She would likely thrive in a home that understands that some dogs just need a little extra time to adjust.

Story
Meet Sophie — A Gentle, Resilient Young Girl Ready for the Loving Home She Deserves Sophie’s story begins on the side of the road, where she was found with both back legs and her hip broken. Despite everything she had endured, she greeted her rescuers with a soft, hopeful spirit. After surgery, careful rehab, and months of healing, Sophie has blossomed into a sweet, affectionate, active young dog who is now ready for her forever family.  She is a mixed Mastiff, born in 2025 (appx May). Her current family adores her and is grateful they were able to save her, but due to major life changes, they want to ensure Sophie finds a home that can give her the time, attention, and closeness she thrives on. Personality & Temperament Sweet, gentle, and affectionate — she loves being close to her people Dog friendly and enjoys having another pet around Friendly with kids 6–16 Active and playful — fetch is a favorite Shy with new people but warms up with kindness Kisser & cuddleseeker Knows some commands and learns quickly Home Skills Housebroken / litter trained Leash trained Does great freeroaming when left with another dog Needs a fenced yard Separation anxiety when kenneled — barking, pacing, trying to escape Submissive urination used to happen when scared or excited, but she has outgrown this When she first arrived, Sophie showed signs of past mistreatment — including sores on her front legs — and she struggled with being crated during the day. A camera showed she became extremely anxious when confined, likely due to her history. Once allowed to free roam with the family’s Labrador, she never had an accident, never damaged anything, and settled beautifully. The Home She Needs Sophie is looking for a family who treats their dogs like true companions — sleeping in the bedroom, spending most of the day inside with their people, and offering steady affection and reassurance. She thrives in a calm, loving environment where she can feel safe and included. Her ideal home would offer: A fenced yard Another friendly dog or pet companion People who are home often or enjoy having a dog by their side A gentle, patient household that understands her past and celebrates her progress Sophie’s Next Chapter After surviving trauma, healing from major surgery, and learning to trust again, Sophie is ready for a family who will cherish her. She has so much love to give and will be a devoted, gentle companion to the people who welcome her into their hearts.   The suggested adoption donation for Sophie is $415, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Story
Need a little laughter in your laugh? Wishbone is your guy! This big lug LOVES playing with toys and will make your day with his silliness. He`ll toss his stuffy up in the air to himself, usually misses the catch and then spends 30 seconds confusedly searching for it since it landed behind him. He never learns and we love him for it! Wishbone has playing and entertaining himself (and us!) downpat, but he needs a little extra help on his manners. He can pull a bit on leash and is working hard to focus when he gets excited. We`re working with him and see progress daily! All he needs is an adopter who`ll help him keep learning to be his best self. In return, you`ll get endless joy and love from Mr. Wishbone. Come meet this guy today! If you already have dogs, note that he`ll need to meet them, too, before going home!
