Story
Welcome to rescue, Ziva!  She is a parvo survivor and adjusting to surroundings at her foster home.  Ziva is a mix of Mastiff/Boxer/Hound, born appx Feb 2025.  She's getting lots of TLC and is starting to show her sassy side, especially if youre eating and not sharing your food with her!  :) Once she is fully recovered, she will be ready for her next chapter!  We'll share updates and more information about Ziva as we learn more about her! Please Note:  Ziva came to rescue Parvo+ and won’t be able to go to her furever home until released from the vet as she will be “shedding” parvo until then.  We encourage you to apply to adopt so we can start the process now! The suggested adoption donation for Ziva is $415, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2539859##

If you have ANY QUESTIONS or are truly interested in adopting any animal from PAW Animal Shelter Please, fillout an adoption application FIRST!   WE are a high intake No Kill Shelter ran by a staff of 4 and do not always have time to answer every question asked by so many. If you are a good fit for the animal you are interested in -we will call to speak with you, If we feel you are not a good fit , we will contact you about other pets that may be a good fit for your home. Many people are losing the opportunity to adopt the animal they want because they fail to put in an application and the pet was adopted before we could answer your email. .If you have applied for an animal in our facility and have not received a response within 7 days, PLEASE call or contact us again. Though we do our best in trying to answer all emails in a timely manner, sometimes things get away from us, get lost or misplaced. It is never our intention to ignore a request about an adoptable animal in our facility. Sandy Brown, Director, PAW Animal Shelter 319-372-2274 ##1849160##

Story
Meet Wendell! 💛 Wendell is a 6-year-old Mastiff mix with a heart as big as his 75-pound frame! This gentle giant was taken in as a stray at just 7 months old and has spent the last several years living peacefully in a home with 15 other dogs of all ages and sizes. He’s truly a pack-friendly boy who gets along with everyone. Unfortunately, his owner had to downsize her dog family, so Wendell came to us. From the moment we met him, it was clear—this boy is pure love! 🥰 He’s chill, affectionate, housebroken, and oh-so-sweet. Wendell absolutely aced his temperament test and showed us just how easygoing and wonderful he is. If you’re looking for a loyal, laid-back companion who will fit right in with your family, Wendell is your guy! This handsome hunk of love is ready to give his heart to a forever home. 🐾 Housebroken 🐾 Dog-friendly with all shapes and sizes 🐾 Big, gentle, and so loving 🐾 Perfect family dog

Story
Boomer is a handsome young English Mastiff (born 2022) looking for a family who would have time to play and snuggle with him.  He's a very sweet and shy guy who will become nervous in new surroundings.  Boomer is mellow and barks only when he needs to, but he becomes anxious when left alone and does not like being in his kennel.  A perfect home for Boomer will have people who would be willing to spend the time needed to help him overcome his anxieties.  He's food motivated, but won't eat when stressed.  Boomer is willing to learn and enjoys training and being around other people.   Boomer is not leash trained because he is nervous about his surroundings.  He needs a 6' fenced yard so he has a place to stretch his legs and get some exercise.  Boomer is cat friendly, but we're not sure about kids. Boomer lives with Achilles now and it would be preferable if Boomer and Achilles could be adopted together.  It is possible they could be seprated. The suggested adoption donation for Boomer is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. Story
Kodak is a gentle, affectionate 5-year-old Mastiff × Great Dane mix with a calm, loving presence and the sweetest giant-dog personality. He enjoys sunshine, relaxed outdoor time, and close company. Kodak is bonded with Scarlet and does best when adopted with his buddy. Personality and behavior • Temperament: Gentle, loyal, affectionate • Energy: Low to moderate — prefers leisurely walks, lounging in the sun, and calm companionship • Social needs: Friendly with people; enjoys being near his family and benefits from steady, patient handling • Bonded pair: Closely bonded to Scarlet; happiest when adopted together Ideal home • A home that can accommodate a large, calm dog with space to stretch out • Someone who enjoys relaxed outdoor time and can include Kodak in family life rather than leaving him alone for long periods • Best adopted together with Scarlet so both dogs keep their bond and confidence Care notes • Gentle, consistent handling and positive reinforcement work best • Regular low-impact exercise (walks, shaded yard time) and comfortable resting space are important
