Story
Meet Scrumps - the big, goofy, one-of-a-kind heartthrob with a smile so unique it deserves its own fan club. Scrumps is currently spending some time in a foster home and has been adjusting well to his new routine. He`s proven to be potty trained and an overall respectful houseguest! At just one year old, Scrumps has that perfect mix of playful puppy energy and “please love me” cuddle vibes packed into 115 lbs of dog. He LOVES carrying his toys around like prized possessions and will absolutely parade them in front of you like he just won Best in Show. His hobbies include: sprinting (or rather speed-waddling) around the yard chasing toys like he just remembered he has legs, going on sniff-filled walks (snow snacks included), collecting compliments (he will not stop until he gets them), and practicing “sit” like the smart cookie he is. Scrumps is also a certified road-trip buddy! After any activity, Scrumps` signature move is to melt into you with his classic full-body lean while you deliver top-tier butt rubs. It’s his love language. Scrumps’ dream home would include older kids who can handle his big, bouncy energy, and he’s looking for a cat-free household (he says “hard pass” to feline friends). He would likely be happiest as your one-and-only dog superstar where he can soak up all the attention. What he really needs is a home where he can decompress, burn off energy, have his snuggle needs met, and get the mental and physical engagement he deserves. Please note:- Our website (www.neenahanimalshelter.org) is updated in real time, so we are accepting applications for all animals that are currently listed.-Applications can be downloaded from our website. (http://neenahanimalshelter.org/how-to-adopt.html)- Our shelter has open visiting hours for cats, however a pre-approved application is needed prior to an adoption. Appointments may be scheduled with an approved application as well, otherwise we may not be able to accommodate same day adoptions.- Approved applications are required prior to meeting our dogs in foster homes. Please contact the shelter to discuss meeting dogs prior to arrival.

Story
Meet Mae Mae was rescued during a pretty nasty storm in Chicago, looks like she had puppies at some point too. Her exact age and breed are a mystery, but our best guess is 1–2 years old and possibly a Mastiff/Shar-Pei mix. It also appears this sweet girl had puppies at some point in her young life, although none were found with her when she was rescued. She's got the head that looks like it should belong to a 100-pound dog, a nose that always looks like it was stung by bees (don't worry—it wasn't!), and the personality of an oversized toddler. Mae loves her people and hands out kisses freely. She gets very mouthy when she's excited, but it's all playful puppy behavior—not aggression. She has done well with other dogs but says no thanks to cats and birds. She absolutely adores kids... maybe a little too much. She may accidentally knock them over to bring them down to kissing level, so we'd recommend older children—unless your younger ones have previous chew toy experience. Mae rides beautifully in the car, is learning leash manners, and kennels well. Just don't leave food on the counter unless you were planning on sharing. The shelter volunteer described her perfectly: 'Klutzy with a developing brain.' She trips over her own feet, and the first time she was invited onto the couch, she got so excited for belly rubs that she rolled right off... then barked at the couch like it was its fault. If you're looking for a perfectly polished dog, keep scrolling. If you're looking for a goofy, lovable best friend who will make you laugh every single day, Mae is waiting to meet you. ❤️July 21, 2026, 11:23 pm
