Story
Jaid came to DREAM after her owners never returned for her while staying with neighbor. She’s a sweet little gal looking for a place to land and a lap to cuddle on. We know very little about her past (not even her age-its just a guess) but we have followed some clues that lead us to believe she’s had back surgery in the past. She walks just fine and to the untrained eye she walks with an adorable swish. She has had all her regular vetting (shots, tests, spay) and also some imaging. She was having some issues and scanned showed cystitis and she is being treated for that. Don’t let all that medical talk fool ya, this gal is got spunk and is living out loud with many years left to share her passion for taking in all life has to give. If you are interested in adopting Jaid, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Jaid's adoption fee is $500. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Jaid will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Story
Midnight ended up at animal control after his owners abandoned him at a clinic. He was held for a while but with so many dogs he ended up on the euthanasia list. Can you imagine? This little guy is a very nice dog with a great temperament. He loves to hang with his people way more than the other dogs at his foster home. He appears to prefer the company of the females in the foster home pack. His foster family believe he is mixed with corgi or other herding breed because he has a habit of jumping and mouthing to get attention. Midnight is not rally a vocal dog. But when he has something to say it is in a a "Big Dog" bark but the good news is he's not a huge barker unless he's excited about something. Midnight sleeps quietly in a crate like a gentleman. Midnight is completely potty trained. He no longer takes any medicine for anything but when he did he took it like a champ. He loves to chase a ball and bring it back to you to throw again. He loves to go for loooooooong leash walks. He needs a home with people that will dedicate time to his daily walks. This guy absolutely loves to explore the back yard and will definitely need a fenced yard. He is working on waiting but still is a BIG Door Darter. He is very excited to GO, GO, GOI! A home with adults and everyone over 16yrs is needed so he doesn’t sneak out past a kiddo. ✅ Sweet guy ✅ loves to walk & play with toys ✅ crate trained 🚫 door dasher so no young kiddos ✅ housetrained ✅ smart and eager to learn If you are interested in adopting Midnight, you can fill out an application right on our website! Story
Twinkle is a zesty little sprite of a dog weighing in at less than 8 pounds. She came from animal control after owner surrendering her and another dog. Twinkle is a zesty little sprite of a dog, under two years old and weighing in at less than 8 pounds! She was found as a stray and taken to animal control.  While settling into her foster home she had a seizure.  But after seeing our vets, we have found a dosage of keppra that has been effective for her and only costs around $15 a month partnered yearly bloodwork. Twinkle loves to play tug with her foster family and their dog and is affectionate towards people.  She isn't much of a barker and often seek ear scratches and belly rubs from her foster people.  Twinkle also likes to play with her foster family's cat and chase squirrels given the chance.  She can entertain herself outside by herself in her foster family's fenced-in yard, but can be anxious alone indoors without a person or another dog.  She would do well with a guardian who can work from home and/or has another dog to keep her company when alone.  Twinkle is potty-trained and does very well travelling in the car.
