Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sophia is a 7-8 year old, super cute mixture of what we guess is dachshund mixed with something that gives her a little taller legs, so maybe a mini Australian shepherd? She's beautiful but quite shy. She will need some time to warm up to you, and she will need a safe space to go when she's feeling overwhelmed. A crate or space under a piece of furniture will do, she isn't too picky!   Sophia currently lives with other dogs and would do best with another small, calm dog. Big dogs and children can be a bit intimidating to her. Once she realizes you're not scary, she will hang out on the couch with you, happily watch tv, and enjoy getting pets and snuggles. She likes to know where you are and if you aren’t where she expects you to be, she’ll track you down  in the house to find you.    She enjoys being outside in the yard, doesn’t mind the rain and is mostly house trained. She will use pee pads in the house if they are available to her. She gets very excited for food, so you’ll have to be careful not to overfeed her because she has a tendency towards love handles (that are honestly adorable).   Sophia is very sweet, and she will need someone with patience who will allow her the space and time she needs for big adjustments. If you are looking for a low maintenance dog and have a quiet home, Sophia must be the dog for you! Sophia's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and prevention, plus a free basic training class at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires all animals to be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping pets altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background check, vet history check, and a home visit. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mildly collapsing trachea dx 9/24/25 Meet Rommy, a 10 year old dachshund with a heart full of love and a mission to be your shadow. He's the definition of a "Velcro dog" - where you go, Rommy will be right behind you, ready to offer moral support during every family meeting, snack run, or Netflix binge. If you have some steps up to your sofa or bed, he'd love to join you for some cuddle time!   This little gentleman has a partially collapsed trachea, which just means walks are better suited with a harness instead of a collar. He is currently working on house training and lives in a foster home where a doggie door is used. While progress has been made, he's a short guy and the struggle to get through the dog door is real, so he'd just prefer that you open the door for him to preserve his dignity.   If you're looking for a snuggly lap dog who loves "uppies," endless companionship, and gentle affection, Rommy would be thrilled to meet you!   Rommy's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, and current vaccinations and preventatives. Last Hope requires that all animals be keep as indoor pets only and that adopters have a history of having kept their pets altered and current on vaccines and prevention. Our adoption process includes a background check, vet history check, and a home visit. If you would like to meet Rommy please submit an adoption application on our website, Adopthope.org.
