Story
Meet Muffin! Muffin is an 11-week-old puppy from Athena’s breakfast litter, and this little girl has been ahead of the game from the very beginning. She was the first puppy in the litter to open her eyes and the first to figure out how to walk! Apparently, Muffin was ready to get this life started while everyone else was still sleeping. Muffin is small and built a lot like her brother Sausage, with a long body, short little legs and an adorable low-to-the-ground profile. She may be small, but she has plenty of puppy personality packed into that little body. Muffin is a playful, curious girl who loves to get things moving. Give her a toy and she's happy to carry it around, toss it, chase it and turn it into a game. She has plenty of puppy energy and loves racing around with her siblings before stopping to see what else she can get into. She is also a people-loving little girl who enjoys attention and being involved with whatever her humans are doing. Muffin has a confident, outgoing personality and isn't afraid to explore. She's the kind of puppy who seems to believe that if something is happening, she should probably be there for it. We haven't DNA tested Muffin, but her brother Java's Wisdom Panel results included 24% American Pit Bull Terrier, 14% Shih Tzu and 4% Dachshund, along with 14 other breeds. Looking at Muffin's long body and short legs, we're thinking the Dachshund and Shih Tzu genes may have made themselves pretty comfortable in this part of the litter! Like all of Athena's puppies, Muffin is looking for a family who understands that puppies need patience, training, supervision and plenty of time to learn how to be good dogs. She will need a physically fenced yard for safe play and exercise. Muffin has been spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and has received her first two distemper/parvo vaccines. Her adopter will be responsible for her last distemper/parvo vaccine and her rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age. Muffin may be small and low to the ground, but she's been proving from day one that small doesn't mean slow! She's playful, curious, affectionate and ready to find a family who will keep up with her. If you’d like to meet Muffin, please fill out an adoption application at www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Muffin, you can email rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Adopters must live within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA. Indoor homes only. Adoption Fee: $300

Story
Meet Toast! Toast is an 11-week-old puppy from Athena’s breakfast litter, and this little guy has a look all his own. He has the same beautiful wispy coat as his brothers Java and Benedict, but Toast is smaller and has a very long body and short, stubby, Dachshund-like legs. We can't help but wonder if the Shih Tzu and Dachshund in his family tree had a little extra influence on this boy! Toast is a happy, playful puppy with a fun personality. He loves playing with his siblings, exploring the yard and checking out whatever looks interesting. He is curious about the world around him and is always ready to see what is happening next. Toast is also an affectionate little guy who enjoys attention from his people. He is perfectly happy to be part of the action, but when the puppy energy runs out, he's ready to settle down for a nap and recharge for the next round. We haven't DNA tested Toast, but his brother Java's Wisdom Panel results give us an interesting glimpse into the genetics behind some of these puppies. Java's DNA included 24% American Pit Bull Terrier, 14% Shih Tzu and 4% Dachshund, along with 14 other breeds. With Toast's long body, short legs and adorable wispy coat, we're thinking those Shih Tzu and Dachshund genes may have made themselves particularly noticeable in him! Like all of Athena's puppies, Toast is looking for a family who understands that puppies need patience, training, supervision and plenty of time to learn how to be good dogs. He will need a physically fenced yard for safe play and exercise. Toast has been neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and has received his first two distemper/parvo vaccines. His adopter will be responsible for his last distemper/parvo vaccine and his rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age. If you're looking for a smaller puppy with a fun personality, a wispy coat, a very long body and some seriously cute short legs, Toast might be your guy. If you’d like to meet Toast, please fill out an adoption application at www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Toast, you can email rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Story
Meet Sausage! Sausage is an 11-week-old puppy from Athena’s breakfast litter, and we're pretty sure his name chose him. He is small, long and wonderfully low to the ground, with short little Dachshund-style legs and a body that is shaped remarkably like a sausage! Add his shiny black coat, and you have one very distinctive little puppy. But don't let his dark coloring fool you. Sausage has a personality that is impossible to overlook. Sausage is an outgoing, confident little guy who loves attention. He is curious about everything and wants to know what his people are doing at all times. If something interesting is happening, Sausage will be there to investigate. If someone is sitting down, he considers that an excellent opportunity to come over and see if attention is available. He loves to play with his siblings and has plenty of puppy energy, but he also has a sweet, affectionate side. Once he's had enough running, wrestling and exploring, Sausage is happy to settle down with his people and soak up some attention. His brother Java's DNA included 24% American Pit Bull Terrier, 14% Shih Tzu and 4% Dachshund, along with 14 other breeds. We haven't DNA tested Sausage, but when we look at his long body and short legs, we're pretty confident the Dachshund portion of the family tree made its presence known! Like all of Athena's puppies, Sausage is looking for a family who understands that puppies need patience, training, supervision and plenty of time to learn how to be good dogs. He will need a physically fenced yard for safe play and exercise. Sausage has been neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and has received his first two distemper/parvo vaccines. His adopter will be responsible for his last distemper/parvo vaccine and his rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age. Sausage may be a little black puppy who is easy to overlook in a group of colorful puppies, but spend a few minutes with him and we're pretty sure you'll notice him. He's small, he's long, he's adorable, and his personality is anything but black and white. If you’d like to meet Sausage, please fill out an adoption application at www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Sausage, you can email rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Adopters must live within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA. Indoor homes only. Adoption Fee: $300
