Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mildly collapsing trachea dx 9/24/25 Rommy & Sophia are a bonded pair of pups looking for a home together! Rommy is the golden boy, around 10 years old. Sophia is the white and brown gal and is estimated to be around 7-8 years old. Together they bring out the best in each other! They love each others’ company and you can often find them lounging around and sleeping together. Sophia tends to be on the shy side but Rommy has helped her to become more brave. Rommy is full of love and has a mission to be your shadow. He’s the definition of a “Velcro dog” -  where you go, Rommy will be right behind you ready to offer moral support during every family meeting, snack run or Netflix binge.  This little gentleman has a partially collapsed trachea, which just means walks are better suited with a harness instead of a collar. He is currently working on house training and lives in a foster home where a doggie door is used. While progress has been made, he's a short guy and the struggle to get through the dog door is real, so he'd just prefer that you open the door for him to preserve his dignity.   Sophia is more timid but with some time she will warm up to you. She would prefer to have a safe space to go whenever she’s felling overwhelmed. A crate or space under a piece of furniture will do, she isn’t too picky! She enjoys being outside in the yard, doesn’t mind the rain and is mostly house trained. She will use pee pads in the house if they are available to her. She gets very excited for food, so you’ll have to be careful not to overfeed her because she has a tendency towards love handles (that are honestly adorable).   Rommy and Sophia’s  adoption fee is $500 and includes their spay and neuter, microchip, and current vaccinations and preventatives. Last Hope requires that all animals be keep as indoor pets only and that adopters have a history of having kept their pets altered and current on vaccines and prevention. Our adoption process includes a background check, vet history check, and a home visit. Story
Meet Ben, the Hotdog Hound! Ben is a 3.5-month-old male dachshund/hound mix whose long, low-slung dachshund body, floppy hound ears, and pointy little snout make him irresistibly adorable. And as if that weren’t enough, he sports a partially blue eye that gives him an extra dash of charm. This boy is truly one of a kind. Ben can be a bit unsure when first encountering new situations, but he warms up quickly and soon shows his playful, goofy side. He loves to play with both people and other dogs, though he prefers when the roughhousing stays friendly. Treats are his love language, and he’ll happily snuggle up beside you until you give him the attention he craves. Like any pup his age, Ben is still learning. He can get a little mouthy during play, but he responds well to guidance. He's crate-trained, and while potty training is still a work in progress, his food motivation makes him a quick and eager learner. Ben does great with other dogs, cats, and kids. He would thrive in just about any home looking for a happy-go-lucky, affectionate, fun-loving pup to join the family. If you’re ready for a sweet little “hotdog” to brighten your days, Ben is your guy!

Story
I am looking for the right home for my sweet dachshund girl. She is 11 years old and has been with me for the last 3 years after being rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Oklahoma. She is spayed and previously had puppies before coming to me. She is a true lap dog who loves to be close to her person. She enjoys sleeping in bed with you, snuggling during the day, squeaky toys, and going for walks. She’s wonderful on a leash and loves exploring. She is housebroken, but she does need regular potty breaks, as she can have accidents if left too long. She has mild grass allergies that are easily managed with a medicated shampoo. She would do best as the only dog, as she can be a little bossy with other dogs. She is okay with cats. Her ideal home is with someone who is home often and wants a cuddly, loyal senior companion.
