Story
Franklin is very sweet, energetic, playful, vocal, and intelligent. He loves to play with other dogs, play tug of war, and loves to play fetch. He’ll be just a year old in march, and is only about 20 pounds. He’s truly an amazing dog and has so much love to offer. Unfortunately due to time and financial reasons I am unable to give him the life he truly deserves. I want him to be able to socialize and bond with other dogs and people, which I am unable to do for him at this time. It is a difficult decision but I want to find a home for him that is patient, loving, and able to give him all the play time and attention he needs.

Current Location: Strasburg, VA Hello! My name is Lucy! I'm thought to be a Dachshund mix about 2 years old and I currently weigh about 31 pounds - though I am still working on getting my post baby shape back! I'm a sweet gal who enjoys the people I've met so far and I get along very well with the other dogs in the house. I especially enjoy snuggling and will jump up on the couch or recliner to lay next to people. I'm house trained, walk well on a leash and do fine in a crate though my foster family doesn't crate me anymore since I've proven to be trustworthy when left alone at night. I'm microchipped and current on my vaccines and monthly preventatives. I do still need to be spayed, which should happen the first week in January. I am heartworm positive so I need to receive that treatment before I can be adopted and should be able to go to my new home by the end of January. I’m looking for my forever family! Is that with you? If so please click “apply for adoption” or submit an application through the Adopt tab. Let’s get our family started! This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. The disease was treated while in foster care. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable.
