Story
Current Location: Gainesville, VA Meet Comet. One ear up. One ear down. Zero chance you forget him. Comet loves being around other dogs and plays happily with his two canine friends. When the other dogs settle, he settles too. He reads the room and matches the vibe, which makes him an easy dog to live with. He enjoys a fenced yard and likes to run around for a bit, then come back inside and relax. His energy stays nicely balanced. He is not a wild child. Calm and steady suits him. A few honest details, because the right match matters. - Still working on house training - Crate trained and sleeps there at night without issues - Slightly timid at first, then very sweet - Treat motivated and enthusiastic. He will absolutely try to sneak the other dogs' treats Comet has a shiny black coat, a low rider dachshund build, and that irresistible one ear up, one ear down look. He is gentle, affectionate, and quietly hilarious. This is a dog who blends into your life rather than taking it over. Calm home. Fenced yard. Dog friends welcome. Comet is ready to cruise straight into his forever home.

Story
Current Location: Strasburg, VA Hello! My name is Lucy! I'm thought to be a Dachshund mix about 2 years old and I currently weigh about 31 pounds - though I am still working on getting my post baby shape back! I'm a sweet gal who enjoys the people I've met so far and I get along very well with the other dogs in the house. I especially enjoy snuggling and will jump up on the couch or recliner to lay next to people. I'm house trained, walk well on a leash and do fine in a crate though my foster family doesn't crate me anymore since I've proven to be trustworthy when left alone at night. I'm microchipped and current on my vaccines and monthly preventatives. I do still need to be spayed, which should happen the first week in January. I am heartworm positive so I need to receive that treatment before I can be adopted and should be able to go to my new home by the end of January. I’m looking for my forever family! Is that with you? If so please click “apply for adoption” or submit an application through the Adopt tab. Let’s get our family started!

Story
Meet Zo! This sweet dachshund girl is the most breathtaking little queen you've ever seen. Zo arrived at the shelter in the arms of an elderly man who adored her for all 16 of her years. Her family cared for her with devotion, but age caught them faster than it caught Zo. Her dad had recently suffered a stroke and could no longer meet her needs. Zo is settling in beautifully. She eats like a champ, toddles around happily, and is busy sampling every dog bed in the house like a petite, elderly Goldilocks. Deaf from birth, Zo is understandably a bit head shy when surprised. But she's gentle, great with the other dogs, and already turning every heart to mush. Zo is approximately 16 years old and 10 lbs. Fostered in Alexandria, VA Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Freya is ready to become the newest member of your family. At approximately 10-11 weeks old and six pounds, this adorable black and white mixed-breed puppy (likely Dachshund/Chihuahua/Beagle mix) has already shown incredible strength and resilience. She is expected to remain small, growing to an estimated 10-20 pounds, making her the perfect lap companion. Despite a rough start involving starvation and neglect, Freya has bounced back with astonishing fortitude. Now healthy and full of puppy exuberance, she is a "little whirlwind of fun" who embraces every moment with boundless energy and joy. Freya is a smart, responsive, and incredibly affectionate puppy. She brings a complete faith and trusting nature to her interactions, adoring toys, mealtimes, and all things interactive. Her energetic, outgoing personality promises endless entertainment and unwavering companionship. Her adoption fee covers her puppy shots (including rabies), dewormings, and her future spay procedure when she reaches six months old. Hedgesville Hounds would love to see Freya in a home with a securely fenced yard where she can play safely. Due to her small stature and typical puppy mouthing, we are less inclined to place her with small children or large dogs, but we carefully evaluate every application individually to find her the perfect match. Bring this intelligent, trusting, and fun-loving bundle of joy into your life and experience the rewarding love only a rescue puppy like Freya can provide. Story
Meet Rogan, a darling little terrier with a gentle soul and an easygoing nature 💕 Rogan is a sweet, submissive girl who fits in beautifully with other dogs and truly enjoys their company. She’d be happiest in a home with another canine friend or with someone who’s around most of the time, as she doesn’t love being alone. She walks wonderfully on a leash and politely goes to the back door when she needs to go outside—such a good girl! While toys don’t really impress her (Santa tried 😉), food and treats absolutely do. Rogan is very food-motivated and never misses a mealtime. She’s simple, affectionate, and low-key—just looking for a cozy home, a full bowl, and a buddy to keep her company. Rogan’s adoption fee is $300, which includes her spay, up-to-date vaccinations, parasite prevention, and microchip. Visit www.fullcirclerescueandsanctuary.com to fill out an application.
