Introducing beautiful Miss Nutmeg! Nutmeg, AKA Meggy, is a 10-year-old long-haired miniature dachshund who doesn't look or act a day over five. She's the sweetest, most gentle, calm girl you'll ever meet. Nutmeg was surrendered to Zoe's House by a farm when they decided to stop breeding her. While in our care she's been spayed so no more puppies for this lil mama! Meggy gets along great with dogs of all ages and sizes, but her notes from the farm said she likes to chase cats, so a home without kitties is required. Her ideal home will have a fenced in yard as she likes to take her time sniffing around for the perfect potty spot. Speaking of, she's done amazing with potty training and has had very few accidents inside, but regression in a new environment can sometimes occur. She enjoys chewing on bones and sunbathing in the yard, but her absolute MOST favorite thing to do in the whole world is curl up on a warm lap. Meggy is the true definition of lap dog. And weighing in at only 14 lbs, she's the perfect size for it! As common for the breed, Nutmeg did have some dental issues when she first came to us, but we've got her all fixed up now. She had several teeth removed and the remaining teeth cleaned, and she's still able to eat kibble with no issues. She also tested positive for Lyme but was treated with a round of antibiotics and has exhibited no symptoms. Meggy is UTD on all vaccines and preventatives and is ready to find her forever home! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application.The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Will only go to a home with another young small dog or someone taking 2.  Will NOT go to homes with young children as dachshunds are easily injured.  Fenced yard is a plusVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5.
