Story
Meet Daffodil — a little flower who’s finally learning to bloom. Daffodil is a 3–4-year-old, 17-pound pup with a heart as gentle as her name. She came from a hoarding situation and has spent the last several months discovering what it means to feel safe and loved. Her journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been remarkable to watch her grow. Daffodil is very dog-friendly and absolutely needs at least one other dog in her home — they’re her comfort, her confidence, and her teachers. A securely fenced yard is also a must, as Daffodil doesn’t yet know how to walk on a leash and finds joy in running full speed through the grass, getting the zoomies, and playing with toys. She’s not fully house trained, but she does well using puppy pads when she can’t make it outside. Daffodil has also shown potential to live peacefully with cats. Because of her past, Daffodil is wary of new people and situations. She needs a calm, patient home without a lot of noise or chaos. The first few weeks (or even months) will take understanding and consistency — but when she decides you’re one of her people, you’ll know it. She becomes affectionate, playful, and loves nothing more than burrowing under the blanket for a snuggle or inviting you to play her favorite games. Daffodil isn’t an “easy” dog — she’s a special one. She’s looking for a home that will meet her where she is and help her continue to blossom into the joyful, trusting little dog she’s meant to be.

Story
Tucker is a 5-year-old, 85-lb sweetheart with a whole lot of love to give! This gentle giant has about 10–15 pounds to lose to reach his ideal weight, and he’s been making steady progress in his foster home. He’s slowly building up his endurance and can now enjoy longer walks. He can manage stairs, but he’s a bit slow at his current weight, so a home with lots of daily climbing may not be the best fit for him.Tucker is housetrained, low-key, and easy to live with. He enjoys his toys and will happily toss them in the air before trotting after them. He loves being with his family and is always close by—whether he’s cuddling on the couch or simply resting his head on your foot to remind you he’s there. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and his previous owner reports that he’s good with cats as well. This lovable boy would fit well into almost any home. He’d do fine in an apartment or condo and doesn’t require a fenced yard, as long as he gets his daily walks and consistent exercise to support his weight-loss journey. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate companion, Tucker may be the perfect match. Contact BROOD today to meet this fluffy boy! His adoption fee is $300.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Story
Molly is an 8-year-old classic Basset Hound with a big personality and more energy than you’d expect from a senior gal! Independent and confident, she loves spending time outdoors with her nose to the ground, exploring every scent the world has to offer. Walks are one of her favorite activities, and she enjoys every adventure with her family by her side.Molly is house-trained, uses a doggie door, and prefers to sleep in her crate overnight. She loves being around people and soaks up every bit of affection she can get—pets, belly rubs, and kisses are always welcome! She gets along well with other dogs as long as they respect her space, food, and toys—and understand that she’s the boss. Her previous owner also reported that she does well with cats. While Molly adores people, she’d do best in a home without young children under 10, as she appreciates her space and quiet time. She has learned to use her voice since settling in and will bark to alert her family about visitors or passing dogs, wants food or snacks, ready to get in bed, excitement over walks, or just needs some love. She does have mild separation anxiety and whines for a bit when her family leaves. Combined with her barking, she may be disturbing to close neighbors like in a townhouse, apartment, or condo setting.Molly has mild skin allergies that are easily managed with daily medication to keep her looking and feeling her best. Full of sass, love, and classic Basset charm, Molly is ready to find her forever home. Contact BROOD today to meet Molly! Her adoption fee is $200.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/.
