Story
#### Nina is a 6 year old Miniature Pinscher who weighs 14 pounds. This beautiful girl is making nice progress at our shelter after coming in very scared. Nina thinks she is a cat: if it fits, she sits. She loves small cozy spaces to rest in. Boxes, cubbies, tunnels, you name it. She loves playtime and being outside. She likes playing with her dog friends and observing people. She has not played with bigger dogs with us as our play groups are based on size, but she will meet your dog of any size at the meet and greet. They need a yard for safe exploration and the fence must be at least 4 feet high. Nina is a flight risk and needs a quiet and predictable environment. For that reason an adult-only home is needed. Nina is very food motivated and that has made a huge difference in her willingness to get near people. She is very nervous with new people and while she is easy to catch for playtime, she doesn't love being carried and is a little sensitive to her back being touched. On the other hand, there have been a few times where she has sought out staff to sit by and has accepted pets at these times. These are still rare occurrences but something to be celebrated. She will follow people around for treats so she knows people have good things to offer her. We have recently discovered after setting up a camera in her kennel that she likes to play with stuffed toys at night! They are her treasures.Nina is a delightful girl who is ready for a patient, quiet and predictable home. If you would like to meet sweet Nina, please apply at NMDR.org. - - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Story
Meet Isabelle, the serene female Miniature Pinscher tipping the scales at 23 pounds. With a gentle disposition and a heart full of sweetness, Isabelle is slowly learning to embrace the company of humans, observing their kindness in every interaction. She finds joy in the companionship of her canine friends during outdoor play sessions and has been adapting well to various environments, spending time in staff offices to acclimate herself. However, Isabelle is currently overweight and will require a dedicated family willing to continue her special diet and provide the exercise needed to return her to a healthy weight. Eager to lavish her love on a devoted companion, Isabelle awaits her chance for adoption at National Mill Dog Rescue, yearning to share her affection with a forever family.- - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization.
