Julius is an adorable little Miniature Pinscher who recently arrived at FDHS after his previous owner could no longer care for him.This small guy has one very clear opinion about life in the shelter… he would really prefer not to be here. Julius is happiest when he is with people and is hoping for a home where he doesn’t have to spend much time alone. If you’re looking for a shadow, a sidekick, or a professional lap warmer - Julius is ready for the job.He is a sweet, curious little dude who has been friendly with staff and volunteers and is always interested in what’s going on around him. We were told he hasn’t had much exposure to other dogs, but he does show interest in them here at the shelter. He is also reported to like chasing cats, but has never ever tried to hurt one. Julius has not had much experience with kids, but his sweet personality suggests he could do well with the right match and proper introductions.At the end of the day, Julius is looking for the simple life. A cozy spot on the couch, a person to follow from room to room, and someone who thinks a tiny dog taking up 90% of the bed is perfectly reasonable.Retired, work from home, or just in need of a constant little companion? Julius is ready to be your new best friend!

Meet Nola 🐟This gal here is Nola. Don’t let the images fool you, she really isn’t a big dog at all. She’s a little short stack with the personality of a dog double her size and a heart just as big. She is estimated to be about a year old. Wondering what breed she is? Well, our best guess would be a terrier mix of some sort, though we really are not able to tell. Regardless, she should stay right around the 40lb range. She’s still quite a young gal, and she definitely has a bit of that puppy energy. She likes to be moving and playing and doing things. She’s got “tippy toes” and always seems to be prancing around waiting for the next game or adventure to start. She doesn’t necessarily need a large piece of land or fenced in yard, though. So long as she has some proper enrichment (snuffle mat, stuffed kongs, treat dispensing toys, etc.) and the occasional walk, she would do well in any living situation. She hasn’t shown any destructive tendencies and once she has gotten worn out, she tends to just curl up in her pile of blankets and make herself right at home for the day. We are unsure how well she does around cats. She does well with other dogs, though! She came from a home where she was living with 2 others, and she has done well with the few of ours she has interacted with. She loves all things people and loves to soak up the attention and affection she can get from you. She travels nicely, does well on a leash, and tends just to want to stay velcroed right next to your side. She’s a sweetheart of a girl who has a lot of potential to be the best family dog you could ever ask for. 🐾

Meet Cleo! Cleo is a 10-year-old Chihuahua–Miniature Pinscher mix weighing about 12 pounds — the perfect little companion for your lap and your heart. This sweet girl was surrendered to our local shelter and is now safe in foster care, waiting patiently for her forever home. Cleo is a total lovebug who just wants to be cuddled and adored. She listens well, loves to snuggle in your lap, and has a calm, gentle nature that makes her a joy to have around. She currently lives with other dogs and does very well with them. She hasn’t lived with cats or children, so we’re not sure how she would do, but her sweet temperament suggests she might adjust well with proper introductions. Cleo is a smart little lady who already knows a few commands such as “come,” “no,” and “leave it.” She hasn’t used a crate in her foster home and has had very few potty accidents — she’s doing great with her house manners! Cleo would fit beautifully in almost any home — whether you’re a single person looking for a loyal companion or a family wanting a gentle, affectionate addition. She can be a little vocal when meeting new people (she likes to say hello in her own way!) but quickly warms up once she knows she’s among friends. Although a fenced yard is preferred, it’s not a dealbreaker for this little lady — what she really needs is someone who will love her, keep her safe, and make her feel like part of the family. If you’re looking for a loyal little sweetheart to share your days and your couch with, Cleo is ready to steal your heart and snuggle right into your life. ??
