Story
Part-time couch ornament, full-time bubble enthusiast, and unofficial member of the cat community… this is Honey! And yes, she fully believes the back of the couch was designed specifically for her. With soft eyes and a gentle soul, Honey is the kind of dog who doesn’t rush into your world, but instead steps into it slowly, thoughtfully… and then decides you are her whole world. Go watch her in action on YouTube—Honey | Couch-Perching, Bubble-Chasing Sweetheart—then come right back, because there is more to read! https://youtu.be/4t039eOgadU Honey is estimated to be around a year old and appears to be a Miniature Pischer mix, weighing in at a perfect 26 lbs of sleek, snuggly goodness. She’s currently living in a loving foster home with two dogs, two cats, and two young children, and her foster describes her as an all-around lovely, gentle presence. The kind of dog who doesn’t demand attention… but absolutely earns it. Let’s start with what makes Honey special, because there are layers here, and each one is sweeter than the last. At home, Honey is easy. Fully house trained, respectful, and naturally well-mannered, she moves through the house like she’s been there forever. She’s gentle with the kids, curiously polite with the cats, and playful with the dogs in a way that feels balanced and thoughtful. Not pushy, not overwhelming… just the kind of playmate/companion energy everyone appreciates. And then there’s her cat identity crisis, which we fully support. Her favorite place in the world? The back of the couch. Perched up, rotating between observing and dozing off. It’s equal parts hilarious and endearing. She also has a playful little sparkle tucked into that soft personality. Toys? Yes please. Bubbles? Even better. Watching her chase and catch bubbles is the kind of joy that sneaks up on you and makes you smile without even realizing it. Now let’s talk about her heart, because Honey is a “slow bloom, forever bond” kind of dog. She can be shy at first, especially with new people and in new environments. Not fearful in a panicked way, but gently cautious. Observant and taking it all in. Her foster shared that it took about two weeks for Honey to fully open up, and once she did… she adored her person. That’s Honey’s way. She doesn’t hand her trust out quickly, but when she does, it’s deep, loyal, and lasting. She does especially well when allowed to approach on her own terms. Ignore her a little, and you’ll likely feel a soft little nose boop as she comes in to say hello. It’s her version of “I think I like you.” Honey would thrive in a home that understands the beauty of a dog who takes her time. She’ll need a decompression period when she arrives, and she’ll do best with a patient, experienced adopter who can guide her gently as she builds confidence. A home with another friendly dog is a huge plus, as she really takes comfort in canine companionship and opens up more quickly with them around. She’d also prefer a home with a yard, where she can feel safe and explore at her own pace, and of course, to chase bubbles! Kids are welcome and she is clearly a wonderful family dog. Kids who can understand her warm-up time would be the best match for her comfort level. One more thing to know about Honey… she bonds hard. Once you are her person, you are her person. Your shadow, your quiet companion, your little couch-perched observer who just wants to be near you, trusting you, loving you in her soft, steady way. If she stole your heart the way she did ours and you are the kind of person who understands that the best things in life take a little time… Honey is ready and waiting for you! Story
If you’re looking for a puppy who will make you smile every single day, Chia might just be your girl. This adorable little sweetheart is full of curiosity, playfulness, and puppy charm. With her bright eyes, wiggly tail, and lovable personality, it’s almost impossible not to fall in love with her the moment you meet her. Chia is the perfect mix of sweet and playful. She loves exploring the world around her like a tiny adventurer, sniffing every corner and discovering all the fun things life has to offer. Everything is exciting when you’re a puppy, and Chia approaches life with that wonderful puppy curiosity that makes every day feel like a new adventure. Watch her YouTube video now!! https://youtu.be/hjS2on19Qn0?si=FQ0p8rsKJgKqcAO4 Playtime is one of Chia’s favorite parts of the day. She plays in the cutest way possible, bouncing around with toys, pouncing like a tiny little fox, and happily entertaining herself or anyone nearby who wants to join in on the fun. Watching her play is guaranteed to brighten your day—she has that joyful puppy energy that makes everything feel a little happier. And if there’s one thing Chia absolutely loves, it’s treats. The moment she hears a treat bag crinkle, her attention is locked in and her tail starts wagging with excitement. Treat time might be her favorite time, and it’s also a great opportunity for bonding and training. With how much she loves snacks, she’ll likely be a quick learner when it comes to learning new things. Chia also has a very sweet and affectionate side. After she’s had a good play session and burned off some of that puppy energy, she enjoys being close to her people and soaking up love and attention. She has such a gentle, loving presence that makes her a wonderful little companion. Because Chia is still a young puppy, she is just at the beginning of learning about the world. She will need a family who understands that puppies require patience, guidance, and commitment as they grow. Things like house training, learning manners, and basic training are all part of raising a puppy—but those moments are also part of the special journey of watching them grow into an amazing lifelong companion. The family who adopts Chia will get to experience all the wonderful stages of puppyhood—her silly playtime, her sweet cuddly moments, the excitement when she learns something new, and the incredible bond that forms between a dog and their people. Chia is ready to find a loving home where she can continue growing, playing, learning, and being the adorable little puppy she is. In return, she promises a lifetime of loyalty, love, laughter, and plenty of happy tail wags. If you’re ready for a sweet, playful puppy who will bring endless joy to your life, Chia might be the perfect addition to your family. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69b19628f30bbcfeaf03b5c4 Questions? Story
Zoey is 5 years old. She was adopted early November from my local Humane Society. A month after her adoption she had complications & was diagnosed with Mega-esophagus. No underlying condition has been found. We have been taking care of her very diligently but decided we can’t handle the emotional & financial stress of her condition. Zoey needs a home with an adopter who has experience caring for dogs with special needs, preferably Mega-E dogs specifically and is ready to take on the responsibility of her. She needs a calm, gentle environment. She is on a prescription diet & two medications right now. She does not have a bailey chair. She is a bit under-weight but we have been trying to help her regain it. Zoey is a very sweet, playful, intelligent, and needy dog with a lot of love to give once she has gotten comfortable. She picks a favorite person and sticks with them. Zoeys very nervous, jumpy, vocal, and has bad separation anxiety. Somewhat kennel trained, and a very good girl.
