Story
Ethel is a 6-year-old, 17 lb miniature poodle with a truly sweet and gentle soul. She adores people and loves nothing more than cuddling up for pets and affection. Ethel will happily ask for cuddles and attention, making it clear when she’s ready to be close to her humans. She is also food motivated, which makes treats a great way to bond with her or teach new tricks. She has a calm, easygoing nature and walks beautifully on a leash, making her a pleasure to take out for strolls. Ethel also gets along well with other dogs and would make a wonderful, calm companion for another friendly pup in the home. If you’re looking for a loving, gentle dog who enjoys people, snuggles, treats, and peaceful companionship, Ethel could be the perfect match. A meet and greet at the shelter is required to ensure she’s a great fit for your family and any current pets. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

Not good with kids, Good with dogs,
Story
Meet Cookie, a 1 year old Poodle who is basically a 12 lb walking, wiggly, and cuddly sugar cookie with legs. She’s as sweet as her name and seems to know just how adorable she is. Cookie came from a home with at least 12 other dogs, so she’s very dog-friendly, but we don’t think she got much socialization with people. She is shy with new people and needs some time to warm up to them. Once she learns that she’s safe, she has so much love to give. She can be a bit skittish and sometimes enjoys playing a quick game of chase before being picked up, which feels part playful, part nerves, and fully adorable. This little sweetie is the perfect blend of playful puppy energy and professional snuggler. When it’s time to have fun, she’s all in. She plays with toys, gets the zoomies, and chases her tail like it’s the best thing ever. When it’s time to relax, she’s more than happy to curl up on the couch with you or keep you company while you work. She loves being near her people and kindly requests furniture privileges for maximum cuddles. In her foster home, Cookie has been learning that potty time happens outside and she is making steady progress. She is also working on leash training and will need someone who will help her continue building those skills. While she prefers to be near her people, she is free roam trustworthy when left alone. Cookie hasn’t been around children, and because she can be a bit mouthy when she’s super excited, we recommend a home without young kids. With patience, consistency, and lots of love, Cookie is going to blossom into an amazing and adorable companion! Cookie is in foster in Loveland, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/cookie You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
Merle is an 8-year-old miniature poodle weighing about 10 pounds, and he’s a gentle soul looking for a calm, loving home to call his own. Merle does well in playgroup and gets along nicely with other dogs, making him a great companion for a home with a friendly canine sibling. When meeting new people, he can be a little shy at first, but with patience—and especially with the help of food and tasty treats—he quickly begins to open up and show his sweet personality. He is still learning his leash-walking skills and will benefit from continued gentle guidance and positive reinforcement. Merle does well with grooming and handles it nicely. Because of his sensitive nature, he would thrive best in a calm, quiet home environment where he can feel safe and build confidence at his own pace. If you’re looking for a small, sweet companion who blossoms with kindness and understanding, Merle may be the perfect match. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Good with dogs,
Story
Meet Tank Tank is a 25-pound, 6-year-old Poodle with a gentle soul who is still learning that the world can be a safe and happy place. He’s taking his time adjusting to his new surroundings and is looking for a patient, understanding family to help him continue building confidence at his own pace. Tank does well with other dogs, especially in a calm, low-key environment. In fact, he may truly thrive with a confident, friendly dog in the home to show him the ropes and help him feel more secure. He takes comfort in canine companionship and blossoms when he doesn’t feel alone. Right now, Tank isn’t comfortable walking on a leash, so he will need a securely fenced yard where he can safely explore and enjoy the outdoors. With time, patience, and positive reinforcement, he may continue to make progress — but his future family should be prepared to meet him where he is. Tank is looking for a quieter home that will give him the space, stability, and kindness he deserves. In return, you’ll get a loyal companion who just needs a little extra love to truly shine. If you have a calm home, a fenced yard, and room in your heart for a sweet dog finding his confidence, Tank may be the perfect fit. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet.
