Story
Meet Speed – A Brave Little Guy Finding His Confidence Speed is a five-year-old Mini Poodle who weighs 9 pounds and has already come so far since arriving at Dogsville. When he first came to us, he was frightened and shut down, unsure of the world around him. Today, his personality is beginning to shine, and it’s been a joy to watch him discover that life can be filled with good things. One of Speed’s favorite places is the play yard, where he happily explores, follows interesting scents, and enjoys spending time with his dog friends. He’s also become quite good at reminding the staff if he thinks breakfast or dinner is running just a little behind schedule. He’s not shy about voicing his opinion when food is involved! Speed is still a little difficult to pick up, but each day he grows a little more trusting and a little more confident. He has already made incredible progress and simply needs a patient adopter who understands that confidence is built through kindness, consistency, and time. Because he takes comfort from other dogs, Speed may do best in a home with a confident canine companion who can continue showing him how wonderful life can be. Having a dog friend to learn from will help him keep building courage as he settles into his new home. This sweet little guy is looking for an experienced adopter who will let him continue his journey at his own pace. With patience and understanding, Speed’s adorable personality will continue to blossom, revealing the happy, curious little dog that has been waiting all along. 📍 Available for adoption at our Dogsville location in Humansville, MO 🖱 Apply to adopt at www.nmdr.org (select Missouri) ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

Story
Penn is a 3-year-old Poodle weighing just 12 pounds. This little guy may be small in size, but he has a big future ahead of him.   Penn is shy when faced with new people and situations, but he is friendly and eager to build trusting relationships at his own pace. He finds comfort in the company of other dogs and would love a home with a canine companion to help him continue gaining confidence.   Penn came to rescue after his former owner, who was struggling with health challenges, realized she had more dogs than she could properly care for. Her difficult decision has given Penn the chance to find a family of his very own.   Penn is looking for a patient adopter who understands that the best things are worth waiting for. Given time, love, and a little encouragement, he's sure to become a loyal and loving companion. ##2771556##

Story
Houdini is a 1-year-old Poodle weighing 16 pounds. As the youngest of the trio, he has his whole life ahead of him and is ready to discover what it means to be a cherished family member.   Like many dogs coming from large groups, Houdini is a bit shy at first. Once he has time to settle in, his friendly personality begins to shine through. He gains confidence from other dogs and would do best in a home with a canine friend who can help him navigate new experiences.   Houdini's previous owner made the difficult decision to seek help after becoming overwhelmed caring for multiple dogs while managing health issues. Thanks to that loving choice, Houdini now has the opportunity to find a home where he can receive the individual attention he deserves.   With patience, understanding, and plenty of love, Houdini is sure to grow into a devoted companion. ##2771547##

Story
Clifford is an adorable, scruffy Poodle / Westie mix who is 15 lbs. We do not DNA test our rescue dogs, so his breed mix is simply our veterinarian's best guess based on his appearance. Clifford is believed to be around 3 years old, although his exact age remains a bit of a mystery. Originally, the veterinarian at the New Mexico shelter estimated he might be closer to 5 or 6 years old because of what appears to be cataracts in his eyes. However, they also noted that this condition could be genetic rather than age related. Based on Clifford's very playful energy, and overall youthful personality, everyone who has gotten to know him believes he is likely much younger, perhaps around 2 to 3 years old. Unfortunately, without knowing his history, there's no way to determine his exact age. While Clifford's vision isn't perfect, you would never guess it from the way he approaches life. He never bumps into things, loves playing fetch, easily finds his toys, and enjoys life to the fullest. Clifford is certainly not fully blind, and his visual limitations don't slow him down one bit. Clifford requires a home with another young, playful dog. He gets bored easily when he doesn't have a buddy, and he really really really thrives with other dogs, so we are requiring he go to a home with another dog. Clifford is wonderfully social and gets along great with everyone he meets, both people and other dogs alike. He has a fun-loving, playful spirit and is definitely on the higher-energy side. Toys are one of his favorite things in the world, and he can happily entertain himself for hours or invite you to join in the fun. His goofy antics, joyful attitude, and puppy-like enthusiasm are absolutely contagious and guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. From Clifford's foster: * * * * "Oh Clifford is so fun! He has a lot of energy so would do best with someone active. He also definitely needs another playful dog in the home! He thrives on play time. Clifford is very very social and friendly and loves every new person and every new dog that he meets! He is potty trained, and crate trained, and does need to be crated when I leave the house or he will try to chew on things. He sometimes chews on things even when I am home, because he is young and bored, but as long as he has lots of toys and another dog friend, he will not feel the need to chew on things! When Clifford first notices someone new approaching him, he may let out a little bark at the unfamiliar figure due to his vision not being the best. But the second they get close enough for him to realize it's a friend (person), he gets excited to meet them! As soon as he realizes you're a friend, his entire body starts wiggling with excitement and happiness. Clifford truly has never met a stranger and absolutely adores people. His loving, friendly personality shines through with everyone he meets, making it easy to see why so many people fall for him so quickly." * * * * Clifford is truly the best of both worlds...a sweet, loving companion who also brings fun, laughter, and playful energy into your home. He's resilient, happy, and ready to share his big personality with a forever family who will adore him just as much as we do. Farfel's Rescue would love to see this wonderful boy in a home with a family (older kids preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and open heart for a very loving and sweet little guy. We'd hate to see this social pup left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home. An individual who works from an at-home office or is retired would be a far better choice for Clifford who would be thrilled with periodic loving up and hugs over the course of the day. Clifford has been fully vetted and vaccinated to support Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. He has also been neutered in support of Farfel's work to end canine euthanasia due to overpopulation. Clifford is available for adoption now. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet and loving best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Clifford please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
