Story
COCO IS HOPING TO FIND HER FUR-EVER HOME ❤ Coco is 4 1/2 months old. Weighs 15lbs UTD on vaccines and monthly preventatives. She is said to be a miniature poodle/ boston terrier, miniature bernadoodle mix. We believe she will not be big full grown. She is already 4 1/2 months and only 15 lbs. Coco is a sweet and playful puppy with a cute and busy personality! She and her brother are some of the most affectionate puppies I've fostered & both give kisses like there's no tomorrow. Coco is a bit timid & nervous but once comfortable her adorable, active, and inquisitive personality shines! She is looking for a home where she can be with people most of the time. She will be your best-friend. Coco loves playing with all the dogs but especially LOVES and craves being around and playing with people! When left at home she & her brother stay in a puppy proof room with a baby gate on the door. She and her brother panic terribly & wail if put in a crate. I'm guessing they were kept in one most of the time so no crates for them. Coco spends her days hanging out with us and our dogs and isn't a dog that's going to need to be contained once past the puppy-phase (if in a dog-safe environment). Coco prefers her food on a paper-plate or flat surface and sometimes will just look at it until you hand feed her to get started. She likes someone to be with her when she eats. She's a good eater if given enough time. She doesn't eat well from a bowl, so I'm thinking that whoever had them before the rescue got them might have just dumped food on the floor. She was a little underweight at intake but have overcome that and is doing great now. She likes a variety of foods and treats. Coco's perfect home will be one where she can be with someone most of the time. She also loves being outside and enjoys a fenced in yard. As a bonus, she would love an easy going dog friend. Coco is a little joy and has been a wonderful and easy dog to foster. If interested in adopting her please send us a message or fill out an application.

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Philadelphia, PA for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Rocky! Rocky is an 11-year-old, 23 lb. poodle mix who was left at the shelter by his owner. He was weak, scared, and in a lot of pain before we lovingly brought him into our rescue. Rocky was quickly groomed to fix his matted fur and had to be treated for urinary and ear infections. He was also neutered and received a dental. Rocky has good hearing but limited vision. He gets along well with cats and other calm dogs and can handle a few stairs. Rocky wears belly bands and diapers. He requires frequent potty breaks so an owner who is home most of the time would be ideal. When he needs to be alone for several hours, his foster mom will diaper him. Rocky is eager to please but not super fast to learn so he will need a very patient owner. He gets scared and defensive at loud, angry voices so he would do best in an adult-only home or one with dog savvy children. However, Rocky also responds very well to positive reinforcement. It will take Rocky a bit of time to get adjusted to a new environment, but with much patience and praise, he will love you forever. Thanks to his amazing foster mom, Rocky has transformed from a scared dog into a sweet, happy boy who dances for his dinner. He loves to play, demands belly rubs, and wags his tail whenever someone enters a room. Rocky enjoys exploring and taking “sniff walks.” At night he likes to be patted on the head so he knows you are nearby. All this sweet boy needs is a patient, understanding family to help him live his best life. Can it please be you? Apply today!

Adoptions must be about within a reasonable commute from Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit Meet Blackberry! Blackberry is a 10-year-old, 10 lb mini Poodle mix who was surrendered by his owner. He had been sadly neglected and it was time for a new beginning. Blackberry was brought into our care and immediately received a sedated shave and was neutered. It was discovered that one of his eyes was missing, and the other one was so damaged, it had to be removed. Although Blackberry is deaf as well as blind, he doesn’t miss a trick. This amazing pup can wake from a sound sleep, sniff his way across the room, and jump on the sofa to find his foster mom eating cereal without him! Blackberry is very close to being housebroken. He will wear diapers, but only if he needs to be alone for several hours. When he is kept on a schedule, he remains accident free! Blackberry can’t do stairs, but very quickly learned where the front door is and how to step down out of the house. Blackberry doesn’t require any monthly prescription medications but will take Trazadone on occasion when he needs to be alone for several hours to avoid separation anxiety. Due to being both blind and deaf, he would be happiest to have an owner who is home most of the time. He likes to know his people are near and will cry out if he feels lost. Blackberry gets along well with other dogs but doesn’t like cats. He would do best in an adult-only home or one with dog savvy children that are aware of his special needs. Blackberry walks on a leash but tends to criss cross and would be happier with a fenced-in yard. Blackberry is a super sweet pup who enjoys greeting people. He loves to have his belly rubbed, get picked up, and enjoys lots of cuddles. He happily sleeps in bed with his foster mom and is a certified couch potato. If you need an adorable, furry friend to keep you company and make you smile, please apply today!!
