Please read the bio in full for answers to common questions. If you have a question not covered here, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Because all of our dogs live in foster homes, meet-and-greets are scheduled only after a completed application is received. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance of Middletown, DE so our volunteers can conduct an in-person home visit. Teddy is a sweet 14-year-old Miniature Poodle weighing just 11 pounds, and he is the definition of easygoing senior charm. This gentle little gentleman may be mostly blind, but he navigates the world with quiet confidence and a whole lot of heart. Teddy is fully housebroken, leash trained, crate trained, and perfectly content living the cozy couch potato lifestyle. Teddy came to us from a shelter and has settled beautifully into foster life. He has chronic dry eye and will need daily eye drops for the rest of his life, and he currently takes cyclosporine. While he’s not a fan of his eye drop routine, he tolerates handling well and is otherwise a very low-maintenance companion. Because of his limited vision and mobility preferences, Teddy will do best in a home with very minimal stairs. He can manage a couple going up but does not like going down and will need to be carried for stairs. The good news is he does not require a fenced yard. He happily goes outside to do his business and comes right back in. Teddy is wonderful with other dogs and gets especially excited when he sees them. His little tail goes a mile a minute when friends are nearby. He is also good with kids and enjoys a calm, loving environment. Whether he is sitting quietly with his person or snoozing in his dog bed, Teddy is content simply being near his people. His favorite things include naps, mealtime, and the company of other dogs. His least favorite thing is definitely eye drops, but he forgives quickly with a cozy cuddle. Teddy’s ideal home is one that appreciates the gentle joy of a senior dog and can accommodate his need for minimal stairs and daily eye care. In return, he promises to be a quiet, loving companion who brings warmth and sweetness to every day. If you are looking for a mellow, devoted little shadow to share your couch and your heart, Teddy may be your perfect match. 🐶💛

Story
Marty is being fostered in PA. 1-17-2026 Update for Marty Marty is doing really well in his foster home and is still a spunky little man with a bit of arthritis in his backend but it doesn't slow him down. Marty's hearing continues to be pretty good for his age and he is right in the mix of his foster siblings when Mom comes home after being out for any time. Marty's hair has grown in nicely on his back. He was almost bald when he came to his foster home. Marty's foster mom had never seen a change in a foster's personality quite as drastic as she did following Marty's dental, when all of his teeth had to be removed. Some teeth were so badly decayed that they had begun to calcify and attach to his jaw bones. After a few days of recovery, he began to eat and to be interested in the world. Marty eats soaked kibble with some soft food mixed in and eats every bite of each meal. He is now on 4 medications for his congestive heart failure and is doing very well with just an occasional cough. Fun facts about Marty: -He LOVES burrowing into beds that have a flap for him to crawl under -He is not safe when on furniture because he will quickly decide he wants off and give no warning and has no fear. -Marty never barks -Marty is smaller than the two cats in his foster home and really doesn't care. :) Little Marty is a sweet, easy-going little mini poodle guy who gets along with dogs and cats and people of all ages. His breed is guessed at as a full blooded mini poodle. His estimated age is about 13 but he's a very quick-stepping little man and enjoys exploring his environment, especially outside. He can find his way to the door and he was doing a great job at pottying outside until his foster mom went back to work a couple weeks ago. He will be very easy to get back in the habit of eliminating outside with a forever family who is home more. He's fairly easy to figure out in that, if he's up and exploring, he needs to go out. :) Marty has a very thin coat of fur on his torso but he does not have any visible skin issues and does not itch. His thyroid levels were checked and were fine. We know little about his past life so he may be recuperating from a past issue. Marty is leash trained and does well but because he's a small and older guy, walks won't be very fast. He also rides well in the car. At this time, he seems to enjoy dog bed hopping over being on a lap and he will walk right off the edge of a chair or bed. He needs to be carried up and down stairs and has no awareness of being at the top of stairs. He will remind his foster mom if his breakfast or dinner is overly late. Marty has had a slight cough since arriving in his foster home and following an xray on September 16th, it was discovered that his heart is slightly enlarged and he has a small amount of fluid in the upper portion of his one lung. These are both signs of congestive heart failure, which is fairly common in little old men like Marty. He will probably need to take Benazepril, Lasix and Pimobendan for the rest of his life. These medications run about 50.00 per month. Marty will have a dental on September 26th. He will probably need to have most, if not all, of his teeth extracted but it will be so much better for him to have a healthy mouth again! Marty will make a sweet little companion for some family. He's very excited to be spoiled and doted on for the rest of his days. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
✨Meet Nina!✨ Nina is a 5-year-old Miniature Poodle mix who came into us as a surrender from a commercial breeding facility (aka Puppy Mill) in Lancaster County. Nina had a very difficult life before coming to us, being used as a mill mama her entire life. She is shut down at this time but is slowly starting to give us her trust. We are confident she will make a wonderful family member for a very lucky family, who understands her past and gives her the time she needs to trust them and her new surroundings. Nina loves other animals, and will thrive in a home with at least one other dog. Adopting a puppy mill survivor is life-changing—for you and them. For these dogs, everything is new and often overwhelming: people, houses, stairs, leashes, food bowls, collars, toys, TVs, ovens, doorways, pavement…the list goes on. They need adopters who can move slowly, be patient, keep expectations reasonable, and provide the understanding and tools they need to grow into happy, confident companions. Patience, positive reinforcement, and understanding are key! We promise there is nothing that compares to gaining the love and trust of a mill mama, but it requires intentional effort and commitment from their new family. With the right guidance, puppy mill survivors can blossom into well-socialized, joyful dog- so our goal is always to ensure every adopter is fully prepared to give them the life and environment they need to truly thrive! If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org 💕🐾 Angel’s Retreat West Chester, PA PA Kennel License 17335

Story
Meet Snowman Sam ❄️🐾 Snowman Sam came to us from ACCT Philly after his beloved elderly owner became ill and could no longer care for him. At just five years old, Sam has had his whole world turned upside down — and while he’s understandably feeling unsure right now, beneath that uncertainty is an incredibly sweet and loyal little guy just waiting to feel safe again. Snowman Sam does well with other small dogs, but big dogs can be a bit overwhelming for him. Because he needs time and patience to build trust, he would do best in a home without young children and with experienced adult owners who understand that love sometimes takes time. Once you’re “in” with Snowman Sam, you’re really in — he is the ultimate snuggle pup and will happily soak up all the cozy couch time you’re willing to give. He just needs a calm home, gentle guidance, and someone willing to let him adjust at his own pace. If you’re ready to give this deserving boy the stability and compassion he needs to bloom again, please apply to adopt at: 🌟 www.angelsretreat.org Snowman Sam is ready for his fresh start — could it be with you? ❤️ Angel’s Retreat West Chester, PA PA Kennel License 17335

Hello, my name is: ZoeyApprox. DOB: 02/23/2021Weight: 30 lbsSex/Breed: Spayed female poodleRescued From: Breeding kennelZoey is a beautiful poodle who came to All 4 Paws from a breeding kennel and was incredibly shut down when she first arrived in her foster home. Everything was new and scary at first—but with time, patience, and the help of her canine foster siblings, Zoey began to learn that people can be kind and trustworthy.Watching the other dogs confidently interact with humans helped Zoey come out of her shell. Because of this, Zoey will need a home with a resdient dog to help her continue to build confidence. She did well with the cats she met. Zoey is a gentle, sweet girl who has been wonderful with kids who understand how to be respectful with dogs. She loves being part of the pack and happily joins her foster family on neighborhood pack walks. She’s also doing great with potty training and seems to instinctively know that outside is the place to go.Zoey just needed a little help learning how to be a dog. In the right home—with patient humans and a canine companion—she’ll continue to blossom into an incredibly loving companion!Help us continue to step up for dogs like Zoey and consider donating towards their medical care: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/donate-to-make-a-difference-in-animals-livesAll our dogs are microchipped, spayed/neutered, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.Interested in adopting? DOB: 5/8/2015Sex/Breed: Neutered male Miniature Poodle/Pomeranian Weight: 18 lbsRescued from: Owner surrenderRogi found his way to All 4 Paws after his family went through some big changes and they were no longer able to offer him the care and attention he needed. We were happy to offer this sweet boy a soft landing and a path to a new home while avoiding a shelter. Rogi has been nothing but sweet since the day he arrived. He is great with other dogs of all sizes and is an all-around easy-going guy. Rogi is house trained, crate trained, and loves to go for walks. He has a couple pounds to lose, so daily exercise will be important. Rogi was recently diagnosed with underactive thyroid and takes daily medication. He will need a home without younger kids who don’t understand to give a dog space.
