#45 isn’t just a number. He is one of the sweetest seniors you will ever meet. He was confiscated from a cruelty case. This did not break his sweet spirit. He is an 8 year old 20lbs miniature poodle mix. He will need help with potty training, regular grooming, fed soft food as he has no teeth, and he can’t hear well, but has a lot of love to give. If you want to help him forget his past and start a loving future apply at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TNK/Dog

All Pet Central Helps animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. Records are sent via email. Paper versions are available upon request. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile above. After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!

Story
Meet Rupert, an 11-pound Miniature Poodle mix with a fluffy coat, boundless energy, and a heart that's just waiting for the right person to understand him. At only 1.5 years old, this adorable little guy is equal parts playful, intelligent, and sensitive. He's looking for a patient adopter who will let him adjust at his own pace and celebrate every little victory along the way. When Rupert first arrived in foster care, the world felt like a pretty scary place. Thankfully, he landed with an incredible foster mom who gave him exactly what he needed: time, space, and zero pressure. The change was remarkable. Within an hour of arriving, Rupert was already beginning to show his sweet, affectionate side. Once you've earned his trust, you'll discover a loyal little shadow who loves pets, cozy naps, and being close to his people. Rupert is house trained and has wonderful manners around the house. He happily sleeps wherever he chooses, tolerates baths like a gentleman, doesn't chew on things he shouldn't, and enjoys relaxing with a small bone. He's even mastered the adorable "all done" cue, complete with tiny jazz hands. Meal prep is one of his favorite spectator sports, and while he'll politely supervise every bite you take, he's content to simply hope something delicious finds its way to the floor. This young boy has plenty of energy to burn and is happiest when he has room to run, sniff, and explore. A secure, physically fenced yard is a must so Rupert can safely stretch his legs and enjoy the outdoors. He's also quite the fence inspector, so his future family will need to make sure the yard is secure without any escape opportunities. Rupert absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with an equally playful canine companion. On walks or when watching the world from the window, Rupert has plenty to say whenever he spots people or other dogs. His excitement comes out as barking and reactivity, not because he dislikes them, but because he gets overwhelmed and doesn't yet know how to channel those big feelings. His ideal adopter will be committed to continuing his training and helping him learn to focus on them instead of everything happening around him. With consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, Rupert has all the potential to keep making wonderful progress. Because new people can still make him nervous, Rupert is searching for a calm, patient home where he'll be allowed to approach on his own terms. Most people become friends within about 15 minutes when they respect his boundaries and let him decide when he's ready. Older children who understand how to give him space would be the best fit. Rupert isn't looking for perfection. He's looking for someone willing to meet him where he is and help him become the confident little dog he's meant to be. In return, you'll get a goofy, affectionate companion who will make you laugh, keep you company, and remind you that the best relationships are built on trust. If you're ready to cheer on every milestone and give Rupert the loving home he deserves, he'll reward you with a lifetime of loyalty. His minimum adoption fee is $400 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
