HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.---- Came from a situation where she did not get the socialization and exposure to the world that dogs typically get from a young age; because of this, she may struggle with new situations, show uncertainty with novel everyday objects and need patience and structure with housetraining and other dog things - Once she's comfortable, she's a sweet, happy, playful girl full of puppy energy - Loves treats, and they are a great way to earn her trust and show her new things are not so scary - Will seek pets and affection from those she trusts, and if her foster family is on the floor, she'll sit next to them or on their lap while she chews on a toy - Has a great start on sit and (hand) touch; can stay focused for short periods and loves treats, so she'll be fun to teach - Does very well getting a harness and leash on to go outside; loves sniffs in the yard and picking up leaves and sticks - Has been mostly potty trained in her foster home by staying on a schedule to go out every 2 hours during the day; goes all night without an accident - Would love a confident dog friend and playmate that is OK with her puppy energy (and sometimes lack of personal space) as she continues to work on her puppy manners (dog intro recommended) - Young or noisy children may be too much at first; will do best in a home where all family members have calm, soothing voices and kind touches, and who are mature enough to give her time to open up- We don't know her history with cats All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Black Weight: 10.6 Age: 0yrs 8mths 2wks

Story
Sam is a wonderful mix of intelligence, energy, and sweetness. He is a typical Mini Poodle; very smart, eager to learn, playful, and curious. He loves playing fetch and tug of war. When he’s had enough activity, he settles beautifully and becomes very affectionate and cuddly. He’s still a young puppy, so he’ll need continued training, structure, and regular outlets for his energy. With consistency and time, Sam will grow into a loyal and well-mannered companion. He is 3 months old, healthy, and fully up to date on vaccinations. He is crate trained and has started potty training with a good foundation already in place.

If you have ANY QUESTIONS or are truly interested in adopting any animal from PAW Animal Shelter Please, fillout an adoption application FIRST!   WE are a high intake No Kill Shelter ran by a staff of 4 and do not always have time to answer every question asked by so many. If you are a good fit for the animal you are interested in -we will call to speak with you, If we feel you are not a good fit , we will contact you about other pets that may be a good fit for your home. Many people are losing the opportunity to adopt the animal they want because they fail to put in an application and the pet was adopted before we could answer your email. .If you have applied for an animal in our facility and have not received a response within 7 days, PLEASE call or contact us again. Though we do our best in trying to answer all emails in a timely manner, sometimes things get away from us, get lost or misplaced. It is never our intention to ignore a request about an adoptable animal in our facility. Sandy Brown, Director, PAW Animal Shelter 319-372-2274 ##2574249##

Story
Meet Coco. She is a senior Poodle (born 2014).  Coco comes as a package deal with her bestie, Oliver (born 2013).  Oliver is a Maltese. Coco is very sweet and good with cats and other dogs. She is mostly housetrained, but uses a potty pad at times.  Oliver is nervous around younger children.  He is good in a home with older kids (age 13+). He is on prescription kidney food. Both Coco and Oliver love to snuggle! Check out how different Coco looks after her salon appointment! The suggested adoption donation for Oliver and Coco both is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2552314##

Story
Welcome to rescue, Ellie!  Ellie is a senior Mini Poodle mix, born 2010.  Her previous owner developed health issues and can no longer care for her.  She is adjusting to her new surroundings and getting to know her foster family.  Ellie is a very sweet girl and just look at that face!!  She is only 16 pounds and needs to be in a home with older children only (age 13+).  She seems to fine with other dogs and cats, she just doesn't interact with them much - possibly because she can't see too well.  She has shown no aggression towards them.  She also has some hearing loss.  She walks great on a leash and she will go to the door when she needs to go outside - she just won't be able to wait long if you're not there to let her out.  She is 14 after all!  Ellie also take a Potassium Supplement every day. Ellie is looking for someone she can hang out with because she just seems to want to be with her person.  She follows her foster mom around and wants to stay close.  If you're looking for a sweet senior girl, Ellie would definitely make a great buddy!  The suggested adoption donation for Ellie is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
