Story
Meet Amelio, a distinguished senior gentleman with a heart as warm as his favorite cozy blanket. This charming older pup is looking for a low-key home where he can truly relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of life, like curling up on a comfy dog bed and watching movies by your side. Amelio is a companion for someone who appreciates a calm, steady presence. He enjoys the company of adults and thrives in an environment without too much hustle and bustle. While he’s affectionate in his own way, he’s not the type to be constantly picked up or fussed over. He prefers gentle companionship and quiet moments shared together. If you’re looking for a laid-back, soulful companion with a touch of old-soul charm, Amelio just might be your perfect match. We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support. April 27, 2026, 1:03 pm

Story
Meet Dottie May This very senior little lady may be just 4 lbs, but she still has so much love left to give. Dottie is looking for a special kind of home—one that understands she’s in her final chapter, but not ready to say goodbye just yet. She has a significant heart murmur, is blind, and has little to no hearing. But what she does have is a gentle spirit and a whole lot of love. All she’s asking for is a soft dog bed, kind and patient hands, and someone who will let her spend the rest of her days feeling safe and cared for. Dottie doesn’t need much—just comfort, understanding, and a quiet place to rest. She deserves to know what it feels like to be truly loved in a home of her own. Note: Dottie does have a few mats in her fur, but they aren’t pulling, and we don’t want to cause her any stress trying to remove them. Do you have room in your heart and home for Dottie May? If so, we would love to hear from you.We do not have a facility for you to visit. Story
***Adoption Pending*** Bella looks just gorgeous after her trip to the groomer, and she feels so much better! She is estimated to be about 8 years old and weighs 18 pounds. Meet Bella, a sweet senior girl who's full of life and love! She may be in her golden years, but don't let that fool you - Bella still has a spring in her step and a twinkle in her eye. Her adopter must love to take little walks, as this is Bella's favorite thing. Bella enjoys the simple pleasures in life: a quiet, more predictable type home, and plenty of belly rubs and chin scratches, those are the best! She's a well-behaved lady who keeps her crate here at the rescue clean and tidy. Bella really likes spending time with her favorite people, watching all the goings-on, she doesn't like to miss anything! She also did great in the car in her travel crate on all her adventures to the vet and to the groomer. To be honest though, apartment living would not be good for her as she can be quite loud sometimes when she wants attention, but who can blame a girl! Bella would love it if you came to meet her, she can't wait for someone to love her again. We sure hate to see the seniors at the kennel, so hopefully her forever family finds her quickly. Bella will need an adult only home as she can be a little particular about some things. If you are interested in Bella and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Hi my pet is named como and he is a male miniature poodle 4 years old approximately 9-10 pounds. We bought him in 2022 from Teacups and Toys in Birmingham. In a new home we are looking for a calm environment, preferably no young children and an owner with experience and patience. Como is fully potty trained and even learned to do his business on a towel that we have outside on our porch also opposed to be taken on walks. Como is very independent and doesn’t love lots of affection and snuggles yet he prefers to be independent but still enjoys being played with. Como is calm, smart, curious, independent, playful and intelligent also a bundle of cuteness. Having young children at home como wasn’t the right fit for us, as he doesn’t care to be snuggled with, held, or fondled with which is what younger children crave. Como thrives at his dog sitters home who is an older single lady with a dog of her own. We believe this sort of environment would be a perfect fit for Como.
